J. K. Rowling's Big Announcement!

Around the time the newest Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two trailer went live, another youtube page seemed to make itself known. Visit the page, which is entitled "J.K.RowlingAnnounce's Channel" and you will only see a number of owls surrounding a countdown clock. By the time the countdown clock reaches all zeros (which is around 4 AM PST), it is said that J.K. Rowling, writer of the Harry Potter novels will make an announcement of her latest project.

So, what is this brand new project; one that is so close to the premiere of the final Harry Potter film, where we can finally see the long awaited battle between The Dark Lord and The Boy Who Lived.Various sources have had their own speculations, from the thoughts of another Harry Potter film (which is unlikely), to an eighth book in the franchise (even more unlikely), or it could be a completely different work of literature all together. Kept under greater security than Gringotts vaults, we are only hours away from finding out Ms. Rowling's biggest secret to date.

 

Oh wow. I never really read the Harry Potter books but my speculation is that whatever this announcement is, it has something to do with owls. Duh. If it was another book unrelated to Harry Potter then would it really have all this? I want to think it has something to do with Harry Potter, hence the owls but I could be totally wrong.

Well 21 hours 55 minutes and 26 seconds until we find out.

 

I wonder if she'll give into fanservice and write about the adventures of

the children of Harry and company.

Which, to me, would probably diminish the magic of the original series.

Maybe it'll be some sort of coverage of the first wizarding war that preceeded the series. Or maybe she'll be endeavoring to give more on Dumbledore's early life in novel, seeing as there was so much to build on with that (unless she feels she's given everyone plenty on that); I think there's plenty more that could be covered in that ballpark. It's hard to imagine, as Ienzo has said, that her next project, given the owls, is going to be something unrelated to HP. Personally, I think a prequel/prequel series of some sort would be a pretty cool deal.

Which is nice to know, but I haven't the foggiest idea of what else it might be. D': Guess all we can do is wait.

 

Well, some people actually believe that it could be a social networking site for Harry Potter fans. In the novels and movies, owls are used to send messages from one wizard to another. It isn't that far of a leap to guess that, but it is out there to actually be one of the contenders. I hope it's not a new book that takes place after the original series, although a prequel to the books does sound interesting. Although, I remember watching a documentary about Rowling writing the final book, saying that she was working on something else completely unrelated to Harry Potter.

 

I think it is something Harry Potter related, because what you see on the page is of course, owls.

what happens after. I haven't read the book, but I know how it ends, but if she chooses to continue writing about their children, we'd all know she would be milking the series for whatever she could. I'd say it'll be an epilogue or something similar.

 

I seriosuly hope it isn't a sequel series, because that would just ruin the feel of it, I think. Although a prequel about Dumbledore vs Grindlewald could be interesting.


Or maybe its the Harry Potter MMORPG fans have been asking for.

Okay... considering the owls it could be something like a prologue to the Harry Potter franchise. I mean, we could read up on James and Lily's time in Hogwarts tormenting Snape both physically, AND emotionally! :=D:
This is just a hopeful guess though...

 

Wonder if its a prequel of Snape's life as a teenager and the love triangle between James Potter, Lily Evans and himself 8)

 

This would be a mega fan's dream. The fan-fic writers could stop making things up and actually know what REALLY happened between the three of them.

I mean, sure J.K. Rowling went back and looked at this a bit in the Deathly Hallows, but a little novella wouldn't hurt. Kind of like Stephanie Meyer did with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner...

Not a new book.

Actually though I had a similar idea about an MMORPG, which would tie in a social sort of thing for fans. :x Other ideas I've had were things like comic books, another HP park (maybe this one in Europe?), or of course that they're opening a real Hogwarts*.

* but not really. it'd be cool though. :c

 

Well... I'm sure whatever it is, it's gonna make Harry Potter fans flip. Big secret stuff like this always does. I just have to make sure that my mom doesn't see it. She'd...freak out.

lololol I have no idea if it's not a new book. All the owls made me think more of Guardians of Ga'Hoole instead of Harry Potter, though. o.O All I know is that I'm now waking up at 6:30 tomorrow to be ready for the 7am announcement. :lolface:

Pottermore. I don't know what to think of it really, I'm still slightly confused by it but if it's providing extra background information about the Harry Potter books then I look forward to knowing what that is.

It appears that Pottermore lets you read the books online, and while you're reading, it generates some, apparently, crucial images to the Harry Potter series.

Also, she seems to be going to share some information about the Harry Potter world that she's been keeping from us.

Overall, I'm not sure whether to be impressed or disappointed.
