I've noticed...

... that sometimes there will be a thread that's getting post after post after post, and like 20 people looking at it. Then I post, and suddenly, no one says anything and there's no one looking at it. Or, they completely ignore my post. Do you people just not like me or something?

 

It's just the odd chance that no one's really interested in what your thread is about. I mean this is the spam thread, so flashy, funny, and interesting will usually catch the eye more than "Oh so today at school........". It has nothing to do with who you are as a person. Why does everyone jump to that conclusion a lot here?

 

No I mean I'll post in a thread that's really active, and then as soon as I post, it dies. Or they ignore me.

I doubt it's because of you specifically. Hybridized Spotlight Effect/False Uniqueness Effect ftl.

 

I was going to go with fundamental attribution error, especially since it involves a criticism of oneself when they're unsure of their actions. We tend to observe ourselves as others would should we feel confused about a situation, so naturally there's a reflection on disposition as opposed to the effects of the environment.

Yeah, you see, I'd say Fundamental Attribution Error, but that's only applicable when the person is completely aware of the environmental factors, but overestimates the dispositional (or undermines the environmental) factors. In this case, it didn't seem apparent enough to me that amber was aware that "it happens to other people as well". Rather, she's not disclosed this 'environmental' information--which by under the Fundamental Attribution Error, she *should* be aware of, but simply overlooks its importance and prioritizes dispositional factors.

As well, I always thought Fundamental Attribution Error was more relevant when we judge other people, not ourselves?

 

Well when we're unsure of our attitudes we tend to observe ourselves as someone else would. Which is why one would assume in such an event that other are observing their internal dispositions as opposed to the situational circumstance (i.e. that the SZ is busy and people rarely pay attention to everything).

Sorry, guys, I'm a little depressed. I'll probably feel stupid for making this thread later on. I'm sure people look at my posts, and I'm sure more than 10 people care I exist.
