When its happening make a list of various things in your head that could be way worse. My most recent medical "issue" was kidney stones. I feel for women who give birth.

not saying its better or worse. But a stone playing pinball in my bladder for weeks on end is anything but fun, especially considering my kidney stone was quite large

The surgery itself isn't that bad, it's after on the day of the surgery.

Amen to this. I was perfectly fine after my surgery for the first while, but when the pain set in, the guy didn't give me any sort of pain killers, so let's just say it was one of the most painful things I'd ever experienced. And over-the-counter pain killers didn't help a bit.

The good thing about it is you have an excuse not to go to school/work for about 2 days

My mother's going to try and schedule it on a friday, so the two days off are going to be a weekend. Which is pointless.

On the bright side (?), it's only the bottom two that need to come out. They're completely impacted and I'm kinda pissed about it, as the X-Rays from 2 years ago made it look like they'd come in normally. The top two are just chilling above my gumline and apparently will probably stay that way.

Also, I'm not even bothering with the meds that make you crazy. I just want them to knock me the fuck out.
I'm not actually worried about afterwards. I've already had days when I was in so much pain I was unable to move, sounds to me like the only difference is that the pain will be in my mouth and not my pelvis.

Having recovery time during the weekend is your best bet in the long run. "Medical" time off from school/work isn't time off from school/work.

I had them out. It was a precautionary thing though. Like, "Hey, these may or may not sever the nerve in your jaw and may or may not become impacted, so we're going to pull them anyways". I was super upset too, because they scheduled my surgery for the day my bio class was supposed to dissect pig hearts and I missed it. *totally still bitter*

I wanted to dissect that pig heart...

Anyways. Went in under general anesthesia, and spent my entire recovery with no pain and almost no swelling. They gave me Tylenol 3s though, so that might have done something.
