And I'm already halfway through. This is kind of what I was worried about when I bought it. I feel like I'm flying through these zelda games without much to do. At least I got it for 30 dollars instead of the usual amount.
The puzzles are the exact same, it's just made less tedious by the fact you can switch your boots so much quicker
They're actually 100% of the issue. THEY'RE SO TEDIOUS. They bring any attempt at exploration to a HALT.
luckily for me the menu on the 3DS is on the bottom screen, so it's much easier to set items and use them, plus having 4 item slots makes it very quick to use. Though they didn't do any favors with shutting up Navi. And this time you have the word "Navi" flashing across the screen whenever she wants to say something, and it doesn't go away. Plus, if you don't go straight with the plot, eventually she'll say the same thing, over and over
Think of it this way... Without Navi, you can't target enemies. She also gives the game a lot of structure, she's just incessant with it. Honestly, Navi is more meme than game mechanic these days.
Hard to look past the annoyances with her, especially because she really doesn't have anything to do much with story except the very beginning. And yeah, game wise she is what lets you target, but let's be real, the targeting didn't need Navi, they just wanted a reason to have her follow you
Actually, Navi was created by Miyamoto to justify targeting. He didn't think a mechanic like that could go unexplained. Why isn't the player always locking on? Because they need Navi to focus his vision.
