I'm going to try being the more peaceful one here.

I gave Sword Art Online a try, and I even finished it, despite season 1 getting boring or laughably bad at times (don't get me started on the whole Yui parenting thing again my God) and season 2 just being complete trash.

You can at least give Cowboy Bebop a chance. Put away your "distaste for western series" (which is just a poor excuse in my opinion,) and it's not even that violent. I'm pretty sure there's at least one or two episodes without any shooting or violence at all. THERE'S EVEN AN EPISODE OF THE CAST TRIPPING ON SHROOMS. INCLUDING THE CORGI.

Tripping on shrooms?....trying to figure out if that's worse than Sumia somehow always managing to trip in Fire Emblem.....

And if you're saying my distaste for western series is a poor excuse, tell that to every person in the world who doesn't like a specific genre. And believe me, it's nothing about it being violent, I enjoy violent(or at the very least action-packed) shows, but I've never been able to get into westerns. Saying anything about why I should watch it isn't going to change my mind. If I watch it it'll be on my time for whatever reason comes up and nothing else.

You sound like you're just doing this whole thing to be contrary. Very much like a person saying, "I won't try broccoli because I met a ton of people who loved it and it creeped me out." Maybe you really just can't trust that people want to help you and enrich your life experience. Fine, paranoia isn't uncommon. But honestly, all of your arguments have been flimsy as wet tissue and you should admit that you're being either closed minded or mistrustful at this point.

But I do tell that to people iffy about trying things just because of those things being a certain genre :\

I'm sorry, I realize that this is pretty much the same thing that happened to me when my friends got on my ass for not finishing Sword Art. I won't get my jimmies rustled by you not trying it. I do hope that you give it a try sometime without feeling obliged. You might really like it ^^'

You can go ahead and think that, but I know why I do what I do. No one said I was great at making an argument, but I am great at is knowing what I want to watch, what I like, and what I want to do, and no one else can tell me otherwise.

You did remind me that I needed to start Sword Art Online though. The finally started the next bit on the manga, but I know they're a lot further in the show

Honestly at this point it seems like you guys are all just ganging up on Vivid for not wanting to try it. He just doesn't want to, and that's that.

I haven't seen Cowboy Bebop either, so I invite you all to give me **** and move on. I frankly just won't care, is all.

No one said I'm mistrustful. If you want to put words into my mouth-er...posts, go ahead, but if you meet anyone else like me, but they don't have the patience that I do, good luck

Hey, I won't lie, I contradict myself a lot, which is why I hate typing what I say, but at least I TRY to put what I mean. Granted, speaking doesn't make much difference, but I can say a lot better than type. No one's perfect, so you can't berate them for something they do or don't do.

(yeah yeah, pot calling kettle black again, and contradiction in and of itself, but like I said, no one's perfect)

The no one is perfect argument presupposes that no one on earth wants to learn anything or improve themselves in any way over the course of their entire life. That's clearly wrong, because people go to school and value education enough to base job offers on it.

That's not entirely true. Actually, there's a few things in there that aren't true, but I'm not going into it. Plus, no one is perfect because there are so many things people can and can't do compared to others. You can't say people go to school and value education just because of a job, since everyone goes to learn something for different reasons. There are people out there that even drop out of school and have great lives without a base job; I've even met someone who dropped out and has a great life. Plus, it doesn't mean that a person is saying they don't want to improve. They sure as hell can improve, and they might even want to in something, but not everything. I know I want to improve on stuff, and I know I'm not perfect at anything. You can't say one argument means something for "people", because then you're just grouping in humanity and speaking for them, which you shouldn't be doing.
Are you going to say you're perfect? Are you going to say you went to school for education just because of a job? I highly doubt it. I actually hated doing school, but I did it because I wanted to do something I enjoyed, which has nothing to do with a job. The reason people grab jobs is because of money; if there weren't any jobs, then people could just do what they want without having to worry about that crap and study what they wish to study. I want to learn how to draw and animate, but while I also want to go into 3D animation for a career, that's just because our world is built around jobs, so it's just the field I want to go into. I honestly don't give a crap about the job itself, I just want to learn what I want to. Saying "no one's perfect" doesn't say they don't want to learn, it just means they can only do what's possible at the moment, even if someone else can do something better. I was working in a kitchen for a whole year, I still had some trouble, and everyone compared themselves to me. You shouldn't relate one person to another because no one is the same, and everyone is capable of different things.

I don't understand what you're saying in this post.
Are you asking us to do something?

And frankly NOBODY is ganging up on anybody here.
Vivid said he didn't wanna watch Bebop
    We asked why
He didn't give us an answer and said "just because"
Obviously there's a reason because not wanting to watch a show goes beyond "just because" there's obviously something turning him off from the show and I think it's reasonable that people who enjoy the show would like to know what it is so that they can atleast...

    A) Refute whatever claim the person may make about the shoe
    B) Have an understanding of why the person does not like the show or not want to

    Different kind of tripping

    You'll understand when you're older

Ok, wrangle 'em up for me

If someone said that exact same sentence to you, except replaced the word "westerns" with "anime," how would you react

Would that not be really confusing to you

Would the gross generalization not strike a foul chord with you, not tempt you to demand some sort of explanation

Would you not at least try to change their mind

I OBJECT SIR! YOU CANNOT PROVE THERE IS A SNAKE IN THAT BOOT

    sorry I had to

This sounds like a reason to me? He doesn't want to invest time into it right now when he's convinced it's a genre he won't enjoy. That said, the best way to convince him otherwise would be to explain why that impression is wrong.

I can see why Cowboy Bebop might not be everyone's cup of tea, personally. It's definitely an important piece of anime history though and I would also +1 to giving it a shot, you might be surprised. You really need to see a few episodes before you can judge it based on the genre imho. But yeah, let's please not get too heated about this guys.
