This is what I get from you guys when I say I don't plan on watching Cowboy Bebop
    [IMG]

Most people outside of here actually have a normal reaction because they understand that watching one anime makes the fan. And saying "what is potentially the greatest achievement in Japanese animation" isn't going to change a thing, whether that's an opinion or a stated fact. It's like someone saying they hate steak. There's a lot of meet in the world, but even if they don't like one that most people do doesn't mean they're in the wrong. Sometimes it's really annoying dealing with people who are in a cult following.

    Oh sweet mother of god
Did you tune into Adult Swim ONCE during that time?

    No
It's more like an American saying "Steak? What the **** is steak?"
It's not even a matter of Cowboy Bebop being "THE GREATEST ANIMU EVEEEEEEEEER" or any of that ****
It's more that you haven't watched something that's literally aired over and over and over again for the last 13 years.
It's like not watching The Simpsons, you don't have to be a fan of it, but for gods sake it's the ****ing Simpsons. How could you have NOT watched something that's been syndicated that much?

I've been lurking this thread for a while just waiting for a time to jump in the discussion and I didn't want to judge Vivid for not watching FLCL because I personally don't remember much of it since I saw it on TV ages ago but then HE SAID THAT NOT ONLY HAS HE NOT SEEN COWBOW BEBOP BUT HE DOESN'T WANT TO!

WHAT'S NEXT, HAVE YOU NOT SEEN TRIGUN? INUYASHA? OUTLAW STAR? SAMURAI CHAMPLOO?

    Kids these days, man.

I'm not even a fan of anime and I've seen Cowboy Bebop and loved it, and I know many other people would say the same thing. Cowboy Bebop is required watching for anyone who enjoys visual entertainment. Culture yourself and go watch this masterpiece. Stop being anime fanboy and go watch something worthwhile.

Was the only way I even learned of DBZ, yuyu hakusho, Gundam....maybe it was where I learned of Zoids, can't be sure, and even once I watched an episode of Trigun with my brother at 2AM while we were moving to SC. Wasn't on purpose, but it was a random coincidence. My mom didn't like us watching Toonami, because she thought it was a bad influence on us (please don't ask how, my mom still things she heard pokemon say s***, which is absolutely wrong); so my brother and I only really managed to sneak in to watch DBZ without her knowing, but that was it. Really the only reason I knew of Toonami at all.

Not really, since I know what Cowboy Bebop is, I just choose not to watch it. An even better analogy if you want one is someone who decides to be a vegitarian even if they can eat meat. Now that's a life choice sure, but the principle is still the same. I can choose to watch what I want and don't want, and frankly, it really doesn't matter if I'm 1 person out of the entire world that doesn't want to do something; if I don't want to, I won't, end of story. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, and I can enjoy plenty of other good anime.

Read all of Trigun, seen half of it (lost netflix, got it back....sorta, and just kept getting distracted. I get distracted easily and procrastinate), inuyasha yes, as well as read, Outlaw Star I've heard of, haven't seen, Samurai Champloo I've questioned watching.

Quoting doesn't help when you edit......*pot calling kettle black*
But I actually haven't ever seen Cowboy Bebop on TV yet. So what if it's aired for 13 years, I've probably never tuned in to something that's aired longer. Hell, I only found out about Doctor Who a few years back with "The Fires of Pompeii", and how long had it aired?
Simpsons on the other hand I did have the unfortunate pleasure of catching glimpses of, since it had an annoying habit of playing all the time. I don't watch much TV anymore, since i don't really have a way (not kidding on that, only have online, and that's where my list-that-keeps-getting-longer is), so meh

Tell an 8-year old he shouldn't be watching shows that he finds enjoyable, let me know how it goes.

New Who has been running for less than 5 years in America, it's not even vaguely comparable.

It's comparable when they've been showing the show itself for years, especially long before the new ones, as well as all the videos they have in the library. Plus, it depends on your criteria for comparing. It might not be 13 years, but hell, even 2 years can be a long time for a show of any sort.

You weren't alive for Old Who and it didn't have consistent reruns between its close and the opening of the new series.

See all of this would be a perfectly normal reaction

if we weren't talking about Cowboy Bebop

    It's actually that good

Also let's get one thing straight I would never consent to being in a cult with Jube so you can be sure it's not a unified conscious there

This is understandable, because people have different tastes. However, expanding one's horizons beyond their current boundaries generally seems to be a treat. This is not simply in the high-flying world of Japanese animu, but this goes for many things. Books, television, sports, even food (especially food). From my personal experience, this expansion helps one refine their own taste and strengthen or evolve their views on the various aspects of this whole wide world. It certainly makes life a more enjoyable experience, if you are willing to be open to new things.

So it certainly does not hurt to at least take into consideration recommendations from time to time! It is one way many things around us gain such popularity, after all. Especially if you may miss things in your childhood. Like myself and the Metroid games.

I'm not saying I'm not expanding my horizons, I'm just not watching one particular show out of the many I'm already watching, and that's including more than just anime. I'd rather not start something else when I've already made myself lost on so many other shows. I usually end up starting something, stopping in the middle, going to something else, and just forgetting about finishing it altogether.
That's one of the main reason's I don't want to watch Cowboy Bebop. One of the others is that I'm just not too interested in watching another anime with a ton of gun shooting/western feel in it. I won't be able to convey this very well, but I just haven't found it too much fun watching western like shows, no matter what they are.

And considering that people have tried to get me to watch this show for years now, it's not like I haven't been recommended it, I just don't feel like it. No one said I'm just completely throwing their recommendations over my head......Although you did remind me that I should probably find Ender's Game and Fire Logic, since I was told those were both really good.
