The way I remember it is "feet" is one syllable, so one little mark, "inches" is two syllables, so two little marks. Yay never forget again

That's one heck of a way to remember. Makes it seem so complicated to me. I just remembered it the way it is, since feet is always first, and 1 comes before 2....or something along those lines. I guess it's like how you just remember multiplication to a point without having to think about it

I'm not even sure whether or not you seriously spelled that title as wrong as you did or you're just joking.

Brains are strange things. Our brains probably just comprehend things differently. Though similar. I remember a lot of things because one comes before two, a letter comes before another, etc.

I just learned that trick recently myself, except instead of just writing them both to be feet, I had it backwards and wrote it inches first, then feet.

I also very recently discovered that I've been writing dates wrong (for my being a citizen of these United States) my whole life. I wrote the day first, followed by month, then the year. 24/03/14, The 24th of March, 2014. Apparently, here in the United States, I'm supposed to write the month first, followed by the date, then the year. 03/24/14, March 24th, 2014. My dad noticed it when he saw me date some papers, and pointed it out to me. Now I have to try to break the habit. Honestly, it makes more sense to me the first way.

Waiting for someone from across the Atlantic to call out the blatant reliance on a systemic form of measurement which utilizes units the rest of the world hasn't even touched since the 19th century. American savages, et cetera.

    In jest.

"Asian" is a very broad term that encompasses an entire geographic region and so presenting yourself under such designation does not give much away with regards to cultural/ethnic identity (and subsequently the system of measurement of whatever country you reside in). The term thereof is mostly only utilized by nonnatives, or second/third-generation immigrants. Technically, Pakistani people are Asian. Yet they possess distinct physical characteristics that separate them from Asians in say, China.

I am weary of people who say they are "Asian" because I've never met an "Asian" that referred to themselves by such. But this is rather besides the point, isn't it.

Friend, you're so Asian I might as well start addressing you as Yellowface.

I'm also perhaps ~4.99% Irish from my maternal great-grandfather. I really like potatoes. Maybe this is a sign.

Here in Great Kingdom, or United Britain as some call it, we declare that is the right way to tell the date. Move country, and we shall forget the whole incident!

We still use imperial, even if metric is taught in school. I use inches even though school taught me centimetres.
    I'm Asian, CAUCasian. Eh, eh?

Over here, Indians, Pakistani's, etc identify as Asian as well as those of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc decent.
I think Oriental would be a better encompassing phrase of Eastern and South Eastern Asians in my mind, and Asian for Indian, Pakistani and so forth.
Or change the continent of Asia to separate the racial majorities.
    Or just call people people.

I tend to just spell them out as opposed to using abbreviation. I know the correct abbreviation I just don't like using it. I also have a similar issue with abbreviating numbers -with their numerical form- in writing unless their total is something massive, for instance ... Ten trillion, three hundred seventy-two billion, nine hundred forty-eight million, one hundred seventy-two thousand, seven hundred thirty-four.

Yeah, it just encouraged my fam in the running gag that I somehow came out British. For around ten years now, strangers have asked me if I'm British due to my natural slight accent (that and New York, while I've never been to either) and I've always enjoyed stereotypical "British" humor. That and I can be rather blunt, I have a hard time softening my statements in such a way as to not offend most of the pansies living here in these United States.
