No, you didn't specify. I'm specifically talking about content being generated for user enjoyment.

If the end goal here is for more people to give content, then I have news for you: it takes ambition and an attempt at being interesting. Everyone has access to that "post new thread" button, and boy, if you want more people to create content, then press it. Because I got news for ya, we're not going to make a chore wheel for thread creators so everyone gets a turn. You want to see more diverse threads? Make them. Encourage your friends to make them. Complaint threads are even less useful than sitting around and doing nothing.

 

Incorrect... Complaint threads are more or less equivalent to prodding others to make them, which is clearly better than doing nothing.

 

Prodding others to do work isn't what I meant when I said encourage your friends. When I said encourage your friends, I meant don't say "MAAAN MAKE MORE THREADS YA HOMO, YOU FUNNY," but rather support them when they want to and convince them to make a thread around their random thoughts if you think it's good enough. Complaining has no specific target. Are you suddenly going to convince all the users here by whining? No, look, nothing changed with this thread. No one took this as a message.

Where are all the threads? I don't see them. Can't be the same then, right. One mentality got a 3000+ post thread to exist, fun conversations being posted and commented on, a revival of the fun and games section. One resulted in NOTHING.

IT'S ALWAYS NOTHING WITH YOUR BITCHING PEOPLE. You know why rep is getting done? Because we sat there and offered a way to do it. We showed so much passion that we even gave them instructions on what we wanted done. You know what we didn't do? "i miss rep. we should bring back rep." and just BITCH and then get mad when our complaints fell on people who didn't care to answer them. You know why the mobile interface is being looked at by staff? Because I showed them why it was piss poor and didn't work. I took action and did something. I didn't just bitch take action or encourage others do but don't just whine.

One of my favorite streamers once said he hates when people ask "Why is chat dead?" and responds to it every time with "that's why chat is dead" which is true. Encourage conversation or get out in that instance, it's not something that will be fixed with complaining. Guess what? That scenario? Very similar to this one.

Let me give it to you straight.

Your thread is a joke as far as true enjoyment goes. You do not allow anything especially serious to take part, no drama happens, and there is no topic. It is one thread with an 'acceptable' level of enjoyment. Not that this is a bad thing. We didn't even have that before and now we do. But do not get a swelled head; your 3000 post thread is nothing compared to a single 100 post thread about a particular thing.

Nova's game is great. I commend that one for drawing community involvement of all types into something with both risk and reward.

You are right. Complaining does not generate a lot of content, aside from arguments like this. However, arguments like this are enjoyable and fruitful in their own right! Had this thread not been made, I wouldn't have had much to post here this week.

I am glad that this thread was posted because it is in fact more interesting than nothing. I can contribute more to this thread than I can contribute to nothing.

If what you want is for the site to die out gracefully instead of with people making note of it every once in a while, come out and say it. Meanwhile, arguing with you about it is giving me the kicks and giggles that nothing is not offering.

I don't make my own threads because I'm convinced that no one wants to hear about my useless mundane crap. I have a tumblr and a twitter for that. I mostly keep my posts to Atlas' Lounge thread because I actually feel sort of comfortable there.

Some of us don't really want drama.

What's with the name calling? That's totally uncalled for.

 

Not trying to add fuel to the fire here, but to a lot of people drama is a great source of enjoyment. I'm not agreeing with it, just saying.

Much drama is true enjoyment, but not all true enjoyment is drama.

My point was that niceties and idle chatter are much less enjoyable than a more polarizing high note, if you will.
