So there I am, setting out to make a Kingdom Hearts II AMV, and it's all going great.

-I've got my song chosen - Aerosmith's 'Amazing.'
-I've got DVD quality recordings of Kingdom Hearts II for the clips I need.
    - And I've got an idea of how I want the music video to flow.

And so I set off, not with the beginning of the video, but then end, as those of you who have heard 'Amazing' know it has a nice, steady beat near the end with just music and no lyrics whatsoever. It is this point that has inspired me to make my video.

It's going great, I'm finding the clips I need, and setting them to the beat...

    BUT:

I can't check the timing of the music to the video without re-encoding the video beforehand, otherwise the music is treated as seperate for each seperate clip in the timeline/storyboard.

So I encode, and I re-encode again, and again and every time I do, the quality lessens each time.

I decide to solve this problem, by editing the timing according to the timeline. Basically,
    - Encoding the video
    - Adding the music
    - Watching the last clip of the encoded video for when the next clip should come in
    - Deleting the encoded video
    - Cutting the required amount from the last clip of the timeline
    - Adding on the next clip

The problem with this however, is that the further down the timeline the clip is, the longer the program takes to encode it, thus resulting in the last few clips being nothing more than still images.

Thoughts - Perhaps it is because I'm encoding to a DVD Format?

Solution - Try encoding in DIVX format.

Success - No, because whilst the last few clips no longer freeze, the program for some reason adds in extra frames which I had already cut from the video.

Thoughts - Perhaps I have too many clips in the library for the program to sort through.

Delete all unrequired videos from the Library and keep those that only relate to the clips in the timeline.

Success - No, because everything is working fine, no freezing, no extra frames, but now for some reason, the video is no longer in synch with the music.

Wit's end my friends, wit's end.

I hate my video editing software

I sympathise with you! I use wwm for my videos for youtube and the stupid thing freezes and has even crashed my computer. I am seeking advice from the vid guy at work as to the best software available! Will share the info with you if you want?

I think it all has something to do with Frame rates or something like that, it's all to do with the way it is encoded (not sure how, i'm not good in that field)

Vegas has problem using .avi files, it wither causes there to be no video and have sound or the other way round.

Are you talking about thr actually AMV project or the KH clips your importing, because if it just the clips you don't really need the original music from the clip.

Adobe Premier? or maybe Final Cut Pro?

Anyway, to keep in check with the whole 'creativity' element of the 'Creativity Corner' here's a short clip of my Vid pre-problematic crisis so you can all get some idea of what I was aiming for.

It's .WMV format, 18 Seconds in length and its file size is 1.73Mb.

    Enjoy! :)

Looks promising so far, you are using original scenes (So disney worlds) song choice is looking good so far. Timing is great so far, you are hitting all the right notes. Look forward to seeing the final version, if the problem is solved.

Why not try converting the files to.wmv or something.

Because whilst my video editing software can convert to .wmv, it can't use .wmv

As for the video itself, the music has about 48 beats in total to it during that end sequence, and whilst I've seen many Kingdom Hearts II videos, I've never seen many that use the Disney Element of the series.

If I can get it working fine again, the video would continue to include the characters from Beauty & The Beast, Mulan, Hollow Bastion...
