It Lies in the Heart.

Natsuki sneered at the ground, "no," she said and pushed them away, standing up, "im going to do things myself from now on, im tired of being treated differently because im a princess-" she said and winced, clutching her side, she stood looking forwards, "im going to do things on my own...."

Tadami walked into the castle,

 

The doctor nodded. "Of course, sir... Any time you wish to see her you may," He said and walked back into the room. Before Kelveras walked off, he thought he should tell him something. "Lord Kelveras... I think you should know that in her sleep, Princess June calls out your name..." He said.

"But you're my sister and I'm not going to let you hurt yourself like this!" She said. "Please, Natsuki, you should be resting!" Kimiko said worriedly.

 

Kelveras froze, "She calls out my name...." he said before looking down, "let me see her...." he said turning around and walking in the infirmary, he knelt beside June taking her hand in his, "dear....I promise you will be ok....I don't care what it takes.....you will be ok...." he said tenderly kissing her hand, "I love you so much my princess.....I will always be here by your side...."

Lanern sighed, "princess you can't expect to do everything on your own...." he said looking at her, "you have family and friends to look after you....don't be a fool like me...."

 

Natsuki frowned and started to walk to the garden, biting her lip as she began to fall again,

Tadami saw Natsuki and he dropped his bag, he ran over to her she caught her, "what the heck were you thinking Natsuki?"

Natsuki frowned again and gently pushed Tadami away, "please, let me do this.... i have to know that i can take care of myself," she said and looked at Lanern, "just like i told you Lanern, you cant protect me forever.... and when you guys arent there... i want to know how to protect myself."

Tadami swallowed thickly and let her go slowly,

 

June was still unconcious, but, as the doctor had said, she was muttering in her sleep. "Kelveras..." She said softly.

"Natsuki..." Kimiko said and looked at Tadami. Then she looked back at Natsuki. "Natsuki, please... I don't want you to hurt yourself even more..." She said, standing in front of her older sister.

 

"If I must...Tadami...." Lanern said turning to him, "I ask that you take Natsuki back to her room to rest....I won't allow her to get hurt anymore...I let it happen once I won't see it again...." he said looking over at Natsuki then back at Tadami, "prince....please don't make me make it an order....."

Kelveras slowly got up and leaned over her tenderly kissing her once, he gently kissed her hand and laid it next to her, "I will be back soon....please take your time on the surgery....and do anything and everything you can to help her...." he said heading for the door, he stopped and turned around looking at June one last time, "I love you June...tell her that if she awakes before I get back..." he said closing the door behind him.

 

Tadami nodded his head and picked up Natsuki, "i will, but with all due respect, you cannot order me, i am the one that will order you." he muttered, carrying Natsuki to her room,

Natsuki growled and bit Tadami's arm, getting out of his grip and stumbling away and leaning against the oposite wall

Tadami gasped and grabbed his arm,

Natsuki gave a pleading look, "please, PLEASE let me do this...."

 

The doctor nodded. "Of course, sir..." He said as he proceeded to start the surgery. First he removed the small piece of the arrowhead from the wound. He had other doctors look at it to see what may have caused her wound to get infected. He then washed the wound as best he could with water. Next, he wrapped up her wound with antibacterial bandages. The whole process took about one and a half hours, and June still had not woken up.

Kimiko looked down.

 

"I can not allow that Natsuki...." Lanern said before turning to Tadami, "and I believe I hold a higher authority here prince...you may be prince...but I was given title head knight to watch over this kingdom by your mother and father....upon which they also gave the job of protection over you two as well...." he said somewhat annoyed by the back talk, "so I will say it again....please take Natsuki back to her room....I have business with your mother and father...." he said heading off to the castle.

Kelveras sat on a bench outside the infirmary, "everything will be ok June....I promise..." he said quietly to himself, "I won't ever leave your side again...."

 

Tadami glared at Lanern, "you do not have a higher rank then me Knight, mother and father might have given you the job to protect us, they did not give you the jo to order us around, i dont care how high and mighty you might feel, a knight cannot order a royal." he snapped,

Natsuki starred at Tadami, then looked at Lanern, her eyes wide,

 

"Then perhaps I should let you protect yourself young prince...." Lanern said becoming annoyed, "do not get all high and mighty yourself....you are still a prince...your mother and father rule this country...I take my orders from them...." he looking over at Natsuki then back at Tadami, "do not think that your father and mother would not side with me on whats best for the two of you...." he said heading inside the castle and towards the throne room.

 

Natsuki stepped to the side and went to the garden, ive never seen either of them act like that...... she thought and limped through the garden,

Tadami glared at Lanern, "oh, so putting down Natsuki on what she feels she has to do is doing whats best for her....that probably puts her down even more.... dont think i dont know whats good for her too," he muttered to himself and turned around

 

Kimiko looked between the two, her eyes wide. What's gotten into them...? She wondered. I've never seen them act like this towards each other...

The doctor came out of the infirmary. "Sir, we've completed the surgery," He said. "June's still unconcious, but I have no doubt that she'll wake up soon. You may come in and see her if you like."

 

Lanern shook his head, "I guess I should have seen this coming....they aren't going to be kids forever....." he said annoyed, "to back talk me like that....thinking just because he is a prince he can do anything he wants....he doesn't hold the crown yet...and if he doesn't learn what it takes to be a king then this kingdom won't fare well in the future...." he knocking on the throne room door.

Kelveras nodded and entered the infirmary, he knelt down beside June and took her hand in his, "you look so peaceful love...." he said moving a few strands of hair from her face, "I love you June..." he said tenderly kissing her hand.

 

Tadami picked up his bag and walked to Natsuki's room, putting the mango and flower on her bed

Natsuki limped over to the rose bush,

Syn sighed and walked into the castle,

"you may enter," the king said,

 

Kimiko didn't leave where she was. She just kept staring at the spot where they had been. What just happened...? She wondered, hugging her notebook close.

June breathed steadily as Kelveras grabbed her hand. She then winced and opened her eyes a little, looking up at Kelveras. "K-Kelveras...?" She said softly.

 

Kelveras smiled gently touching her cheek, "yes love...I'm here...." he said gently kissing her hand,"you're going to be ok dear.....everything is going to be fine...." he said gently squeezing her hand, "I love you June...."

Lanern entered the throne room, "your majesties....." he said bowing, "I believe in our archives there is a law stating that if someone leaves the kingdom and visits the other kingdom...the punishment is to be given by the head knight and carried out by the punishment group of soldiers..." he said continuing, "I would request that there be a gathering announced sometime today or tomorrow...and that the law be read to the land again.....I have found out that a few people have been engaged in such a act....and have had the defences around the kingdom built up to prevent further action...."

 

Syn walked by the infirmary with her hands in her pockets, noticing the door was open she glanced in, noticing Kelveras and June, she sighed boredly and walking into the doorway, "well if it isnt the inseparable two themselves," she said,

Natsuki sat down and picked a rose

Tadami walked to his room and shut the door

the king looked at Kelveras, "yes, that would seem like a good thing," he said, he must be talking about Natsuki... she is the only one that would travel to the other kingdom, but......

June smiled. "Kelveras... I'm scared..." She said, gently squeezing his hand. She noticed Syn come in the doorway. Well there's someone I haven't seen in quite a while... She thought.

Kimiko shook her head and walked to her room.

 

"Everything is going to be ok dear..." Kelveras said gently kissing her hand, he noticed June looking at the doorway and turned around, "Syn....well well...." he said turning around but still holding onto June's hand. "Where have you been all this time....."

Lanern bowed again, "Thank you your majesty...I will see the people are well informed of the meeting...." he said before leaving and heading down the hallwall, "perhaps this will make people realize what the law is about..."
