http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14089843 South Sudan has been ratified as a sovereign nation. It is certainly not as small as Kosovo - indeed, this is quite the geopolitical change. I am quite happy for the people of the nation - only previously were they in conflict with the north due to differences over religion and quite possibly background, if I am not mistaken. At least one part of the continent shall be free from more direct conflict.
All of my history teachers were especially obsessed with all of the genocide going on in Southern Sudan, and the civil war - they loved to talk about it. Good for them, I'm glad to see that a people can still stand alone. Now it's time for them to face the challenges that lay ahead.
