Though it is too far. It's the blame of the parents who buy without knowing. That happened once when my step sister asked if she could get GTA3, at first my step dad was about to buy it without noticing until he say the age rating. And my step sister was 11-12 at the time.

But it's also the blame of the staff in stores. Lots of people take a blind eye to the games ratings (Though once when I was 15 i was restricted from getting a 16+ game) but in general they are more leanient for games than alcohol, cigarettes and DVD's, though they should be just as careful with them.

I couldn't agree more. From my experience I rarely see the adults even glancing at the games ratings on the boxes. They just take it from the kid and pay for it. I do look at the ratings and find out about the games. A lot of parents seem to have absolutely no idea on the content of the games. Maybe the adults should be brought under control more?

The only reason I agree is because, kids are stupid enough to get in trouble for it. I ain't buyin nothin at New York. Staff shouldn't sell anyway. But sometimes I would get mad at the system. It was M for Violence and Blood. I'm 17, i'm not stupid enough to bring a gun to school. Good thing i'm turning 18.....

It's so hilarious that they make laws like this because people are always going to find a loophole.

Well, that sucks for New Yorkers. Note to self, I guess I'll never move there.

But that is mad, though. Everyone one else pretty much explained why.

They are rated M for a reason and should not be sold to minors. Also, if someone sells crystal meth, they aren't just getting a lesser charge than someone who sells a video game rated M to a minor. However, if parents don't mind their children playing the video games, they could always judge that and go buy the game for the kid any way, so I don't see the problem. There is a 'paranoia' around by some morons pertaining to video games, but seriously, I don't see what the deal is that people are so annoyed at. Unless a teen actually has a job, which many seem not to get, how do they afford video games any way without a parent knowing? I do think the M rating though should be moved to 16 as that is also the age when a teenager can get a legitimate job.

That's very reasonable, actually. MY mom HAughting Ground (my fist M rated game, wooo) for me, and I can planly see why it's not a game for minors. Especially games like grand theft auto, they shouldn't be bought without the permission of adult. Think of what could get into the minds of children these days! I agree with his law, sadly.

There was stuff like that in their minds anyways >_> Whether they had the game or not. It's just another way of showing it, hence, making it more enjoyable.

Thats not necessarily true, you would get major imprisinment for selling drugs to anyone, so dont say things that arent true, ok?

second off, I think its good. Theres a law saying 'don't do it' so there should be punishment for it. If the ESRB wanted kids to play a game rated M, they would have made it something else like T or E10+.

That sucks. Well here, they don't sell Mature games unless you're over 18 or have a parent around. And I get GTA games.

Where'd you find this out Cin?
