No Thanks Is there a possibility of...

..."Religious" subsection in discussion section.
Usually i would like to give my opinion constantly on religious matters and such but the whole religious debates thing is going out of control.We need a section for it.

 

I don't see the point in havin' an entire section dedicated to Religion. I can see it provokin' more flame wars between different beliefs n' views on religion.

You may think if the staff watch it closely that it would prevent arguments from arisin' but it only takes two or so members to start an argument that is way outta hand, n' a member of staff may not be on. Members can get waaaaaaay outta control when it comes to beliefs.

If you want to give your opinion on a religious matter than create a thread 'bout it in the ID section.

 

Kitty's right, a religious section could cause a lot of flame wars because of different beliefs, so probably a bad idea.

 

I actually like the idea.

More and more religious threads and debates are coming up and I think it could help organisation if we had a small subsection for it.

 

i would say no because i personally dont' like all these religious threads in the first place because they invite arguments so easily. i don't think we need sub-section for it.

Most of it will just be 100 threads of 'Proove god exists' or along the lines, a neverending debate on the same thing.

 

I dont think its a bad idea, it shouldnt have 100 threads proving wether or not God is real, you make one and others should all post their thoughts in the one.

 

i would also say no...for one thing many poeople will debate over their religion and it will get out of control

 

I like the idea.
Though we may want to wait until we clean up most of the spam floating around, that way it'd be easier to watch the subsection and make sure things don't go crazy.
Honestly debates aren't bad, but flaming each other is, and if people can be mature that won't be a problem.
And if they can't be mature about it, then there'll be consequences. Simple as that.

Also there wouldn't be 100 'prove God exists' threads; if someone makes one others will post there. If subsequent threads about the same thing come up, it can be merged, so it won't be totally out of control.

 

I like the idea of having them all in the one place, but surely we will reach the slippery slope where every major topic of discussion will need a sub-section?

 

We only had new sections when it would actually be a benefit to a section and to the site in general, therefore if at a later date we do end up adding new subsection, it would only be done if they would be advantageous, meaning it would be a good thing. Otherwise we would just reject the idea. Look at how many times a religious section has been brought up before.


I am not going to make my decision just yet, I want to see a few more ideas first <3

 

I think that's a pretty good idea.
We need a section where we can talk about what we believe in and stuff.

 

I'm not so sure, I mean, Im not against it, but It could get out of hand and the word "Religion" centralizes it too much.


I would say no, but not completely against it. I believe that it might only give inmature members(or tempted mature members) to flaunt their belief on others and it could lead to a lot of flaming and also oppinionated statements. I don't mean to sound harsh by saying this, but a LOT of the people at KHV would just bash and burn any member that differs their believe. Not only that, but if we add that we have christian children in the website, older members flaming them and downright overpowering them with their advanced cognitive abilities could just make things worst. We can all say that it could be avoided , but there will aways be someone who will destroy any effort to order.


So to conclude, I would say. No.

 

I disagree with adding a specific section for 'religion' as really it just is not needed and the Debate and Discussion area would probably have more issues because it would be centralized. I do not want to have segregation etc and would rather things stay as they are where people can say things as they will and have varied discussions instead of singling out this topic. Also if we do it for this, we'd have to add a section for 'paranormal' for ghosts/aliens etc and other things people could come up with that are common topics. It just doesn't seem a positive thing at all to me to do and I agree with others that it will only cause flame fests.

 

Agreed. Also having a specific section for anything will cause it's frequent browsers to feel more control over the discussions and god forbid an argument broke out, it probably wouldn't be pretty.

 

I like the idea. Mainly because not all of the religious threads are about debates and such. A while ago Repliku made a poll asking if people would be willing to take a class centered around religion at school. And it seems most people here are atheist/agnostic anyway.

 

That would just be stupid.

I like the religion section idea myself.

Make a brand new section on just SPORTS
have sub sections on different sports, high school, college, professional, etc.
