I've always pondered this...sometimes I think it is alive, and sometimes I dont think it is. There have been many times in which it has moved on its own, against its masters will even (Roxas throwing the keyblade). It even pointed itself at a nobody when Roxas encountered one...

personally, I think its like water. Water isnt "alive" but it moves on its own. it also supports tons of living things and helps them like fish or whatever coral live in it. So does the keyblade, in a sense...when Sora travels to different worlds, he uses the keyblade to fix its problems...

Still, its weird considering the keyblade has influenced some of Sora's/Roxas actions...

it also makes you think if TVA's keyblades are "living" or not too...

They could be. Seeing as the keyblade had just appeared out of nowhere it could be just a living thing. But it has no body so we cannot say for sure at the moment.

I think it has a sort of spirit of its own but I don't know if I'd call it sentient. It does 'choose' its wielder apparently by the Heart of the wielder so I would say it has a base intellect by magic of some sort. I don't know whether though it would be considered an 'intelligent' weapon though at this time. That is a good question to think on though.

I believe the keyblade has a 'spirit' and is, technically, 'alive'.

The keyblade 'chooses' it's wielder so it has to be alive. xD

You just took what Repliku said and really just reworded it to make it short, sweet, and simple....

And Repliku, I understand and think the same xD
I mean, it HAS to be magical to be able to choose it's own wielder correct?

I do believe that the keyblade has its own spirit...so yes, I do think that it is alive.

Well, since it's magical, maybe it doesn't have to be alive to talk and choose.
But yes, I agree that i think it's alive also ^^

i think the keyblades have a spirit and have a connection with the heart of it's weilder.the reason roxas could use the keyblade was his somebody was sora, but i don't don't know if it could have a connection with roxas's heart, seeing as how he didn't have one.

Depends. I have multiple theories, most concerning the Voice you hear in the awakening.

    1. The voice is Kingdom hearts, the keyblade is an offshoot of kingdom hearts.

    2. The keyblade has the same "thought" as a heartless. Fair enough?

    3. The keyblade was the voice.

    Interchange as you please.

The keyblade is not alive. It responds to the wielders heart. In theory, it only moves becauseit is enchanted with ageold magic.

Yes, that what i think too, the keyblade has a spirit that enables him to choose its wielder.

I think it has a will of it's own, but I dont think it's...ALIVE. Like, when Riku took it and Sora had that whole 'I have my friends and light defeats darkness...blahblahblah...' 'monolouge, it went back to him...:3

Btw, When I saw this thread, this scenario came to mind:
"Oh my Gawd what is that thing...?"
    "It's...a Keyblade...?"
"OH MY GAWD IT'S ALIVE, RUN! ITS ALIVE!"

    :D

Him? I think not. The keyblade has no soul. It's just enchanted by a powerful magic

i think that the keyblade has a special magic to it, such as appearing in the hands of the people with the strongest hearts, and unlocking doors.

I like those two theories most. That would make the keyblade a little similar to the ring in LoTR, which 'channelled' Sauron, except that the keyblade would interact with hearts or spirits instead of one person.

I'd like to think that the keyblade's alive. But I'd also like to think that some ships in sci-fis are alive. Even though they're not, but they have a feel to them of life that we sorta impress on them.
