Kingdom Hearts Is Sora a jerk? Something I noticed...

Sora's not a jerk. I might not like him, but I'm not going to say he's a jerk.
He was probably just too concerned about Riku and Kairi. After all, he saw Kairi just dissolve into the darkness and Riku submit to it. Since he actually knew what happened to them, he probably wanted to find them first before anyone else.
Meh, that's my take on it anyway.

 

Hmm.. About Tidus and Wakka, I remember when Kairi talks to Selphie in KH2, and she says that Wakka, or Tidus, or Wakka and Tidus, are off somewhere doing something on the island.. So they're both on Destiny Islands in KH2.

It wasn't exactly Sora's responsibilty to find anyone at first, he was just as lost as anyone else might have been. When he joined Donald and Goofy, learnt of his power, and had access to his two new friend's gummi ship, Sora had the choice about looking for his friends. He had begun his keyblade quest, and he decided to get more use out of the quest, by using as a way to look for his friends. He couldn't go off on his own to find his friends, so wherever he went he looked for them, and he could have had the hope of finding Wakka and the others as he looked, not just Riku and Kairi.

Sora wasn't friends with Selphie and the others as much... Selphie proves this when she says, on Destiny Islands near the start of KH1, that she hasn't seen Sora around much. Obviously the two didn't hang out a lot. Sora, Kairi and Riku were a very close, little group of friends, just as Selphie, Tidus and Wakka would have been (seeing those other three fought as a team on DI).

Anyway, if you and your class (or one of your classes) had the same thing happen as Destiny Islands, who would you look for? Would you look for your really close friends, or search for the whole class? It's not your responsibility to save everyone, and with Sora, it wasn't his responsibilty to save people like Tidus. Also, Sora was only fourteen. At that age he was fighting monsters, standing up to powerful adults and getting involved in massive, dangerous affairs. What more can people ask of him?

Tidus was in Traverse Town.
Selphie was in the Kh2, when she's walking with Kairi...

Sora sees them in CoM anyways..lol

But why doesn't he search for his mom?
Wonder if she's still alive?

important to them, the memories of people
important to them. Sora doesn't give a crap for his mom.

 

Sadly, this is the way some video games are in which the main character has his close friends and well, -often- family is forgotten for some reason. In KH, the only real mention of family is at the beginning of the first game. We never even see any adults and we only hear Sora's mother for a bit. It can be assumed that Riku had parents or at least one as well since he says they might never see their parents again. Kairi was raised by the Mayor of DI after she arrived there. So we know there are adults there for the kids but it's clear that the way the game was meant to be was that the 3 kids are important and friends with one another and though Sora recalls his friends from DI, in CoM, we don't see any of his family unfortunately. I can only surmise that the intentions of Nomura were to not have their families matter so much so he didn't have to focus on them and could add things later if he wanted. I wouldn't blame Sora for the plot hole that we all see is there.

I don't believe Sora is a jerk.

If I were ever in his position, I would probably look for my friends more than my family. And don't get me wrong, I love my family to bits, but I would have no idea if they survived. Riku faded into darkness, which would give me the impression that he was alive somewhere. Though Kairi "faded" I would still think she would be out there. Sora did see her on the island before he was taken.

Perhaps he simply assumed that his other friends and parents disspeared along with his island. I don't think he ever stopped looking for them, but he knew that he may have a better chance of finding his best friends.

 

well he knew kairi was safe home until he heard she was kidnapped..then he kept asking for her..he even told the xemnas guy shes important to him more than anything and went on his knees so he cared for her alot

what i didnt like was he cried for riku which pissed me off

but overall he cared for her more..or thought of her more
remeber he imagined them dancing..he kept saying kairi im coming..or i gott save kairi...he even asked to be brought into darkness for her

 

Yeah...and I don't think it was a bad thing he was looking for his friends, but the real question here is...what we all wanna know...why didn't he look for his other friends? I think I can answer that. One, he didn't know whether they were alive or not. Two, what more could he have done in the position he was in at the time? And three, he did care about them, but he cared more about his important friends...I bet, if he had found them faster and sooner, then he probably would have gone to search for his other friends and his mother.

 

lol. i was going to choose "No" at first but now that you think about it.....why didn't he go lookin' for his other buds???does he not care???i dont care if he didnt come back with wakka and tidus, just find selphie!!! lol. "Nothing's changed" "Nope. and nothing will" YEAH RIGHT!!! DID THEY FORGET ABOUT THEIR OTHER FRIENDS?!!!

 

Well, wasn't Tidus in Traverse Town? I remember him being there. Another thing is that Sora knew that Kairi and Riku had got out with him because they were on the island. The others weren't. They were on the mainland were Sora's house and such was. But wait, if Tidus was in Traverse Town...? Idk, all this speculation is making my head hurt.

your BEST friends! the other people are just in the back of your head. ^^
So of course Sora's not a jerk! =3 We love him.

 

Well Tidus, Wakka, Selphie, his parents etc. Were not at the islands the day they was destructed, so why worry ? If you noticed, they didn't live at the Islands, the just went there to play!

 

Sora is a little naive, and I think he is easily distracted, like a kid. So I think he just forgot about them, and went off to the shiny new worlds, making it as an excuse to find Kairi.

 

i dont think he's a erk i ust think he has an uncanny way of handling things sometimes.:)

 

Hmm thats a tough question but i do think hes a jerk because all hes looking for is riku and kairi.. lol he forgot about wakka! and tidus.. come on tidus and wakka are so cool and how can he doesnt evn think about his parents ^^

 

Sora can't be a jerk. Well, at least not in the way we see him as anyway. He is too much of a goody-goody in the games to get called a jerk. Besides, Riku and Kairi were the whole reason he was going around to the other worlds in KH1 and KH2. Although, it would've been nice to see Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie in the ending movie or something like that.

 

No, I wouldn't say Sora's a jerk. The reason he worried about Riku and Kairi the most is because he actually saw them disappear, Kairi in his arms and Riku right in front of him. He had no idea what happened to his family or other friends, so he went after the two closest friends he had because he knew they were out there somewhere, when he had no idea what became of everyone else.

 

No, Tidus, Wakka, & Selphie look more like his acquaintances...but why didn't he worry about his MOM!? didn't he liked her or something? even if he didn't wouldn't he worry about her? i always wondered that.
