Well I've never heard of the terrorist bit, but I agree that he could be a good president, but I wouldn't want to risk it considering the current state of this country. I think the safer bet for this time is McCain...

Not only does he understand it and have a history in it, but his father and grandfather served in wars, and he's making sure his kids enlist. His time as a POW showed the most just how much this man loves his country, and while this isn't what will make him a great president, it shows us that he is a true patriot, which is always important.

on top of that still his time spent as a prisoner of war can only have shown more loyalty to america because they tourured him sencless and he still never turned on america and didnt tell the viatnamese a thing. even when they offered to send him home he declared that he wouldnt leave without his fellow troops i meen how is that not nobal

True, but we never know what they will really be like as our president... I just hope whoever it is doesn't put our country into another state of panic such as 9/11 and Bush did...

Well POW means prisoner of war. xD

Anyway, yea. That part of his past only made me more confident in him, though I'm not a huge fan of either's political policies to be honest.

I think that if he had a supporting Vice-Pesident, he would be ready to become president.

    >_>

This argument is really old. Bush stood up for America. If he didn't, there would be just as many people saying he should have done something.

Unarguably true, you're right, I still think no matter what Bush said, our country was still in a state of panic >.>
Either way, Bush kinda went a bit wierd towards the end, no offense.

Especially cuz of this... maybe a new prez isn't the best thing for our country right now...

Haha, don't worry. We're all mature here, so no one will take personal offense over this.

Anyway, I kinda get what you mean, seeing as how even though Iraq didn't have the weapons of mass destruction that we still stayed there and liberated them, but I still think the war was necessary up to a point. Maybe the time we've spent over there is too long. But now we're stuck there for the time being. We have to stay there or all of the Iraqis that were loyal to us are as good as dead, and I for one believe in loyalty.

I understand what you're saying, because if we left then we'd be kinda screwed, plus I'm very sure those Iraqi's that are loyal to us would be turned against automatically not by us, but by Iraq... And Iraq would never take us seriously and like we were saying before, the terrorists would not be afraid of us, and i shudder to think what they might do.

Exactly. 9/11 would have been very avoidable if Bill Clinton would have just stood up and laid down the law, showing the terrorists that we won't take it. People complain about the casualties and price of this war, but it's the same thing with every war. Sure, the economy is in pretty bad shape, but it's the cost of not being the puppet of terrorists.

There was a time when war triggered an economic boom. WWII did just that. People building tanks, airplanes, arms, and munitions. That time is over and the outstanding cost of a high tech war is just too much for our nation to bear. We need to focus on our homeland, not waste money on more scrapped prototype weapons.

You make a good point. I agree we should have pulled out earlier, but now the ability to do so is... limited, for lack of a better word. There are rather steep consequences if we pull out now. If we pulled out earlier we could have avoided this, and Congress and the Bush Administration obviously take the blame for that, but now I personally just feel that we need to stay in Iraq for just a few more years to make sure our allies there aren't killed and maybe even keep them dictator-free.

A valid response. I'm not saying we shouldn't finish what we start. I'm just saying we should reduce the number of troops we have out on the front. Even if we reduce the number by a thousand that's quite a bit of money we would save on vehicle ammo cost. I understand the reason why Obama altered his statement when he said our troops should stay in Iraq a little longer than his initial plan. He also stated that this can be done effectively even if we reduced the number of troops by half. Smart weapons and strong American armor will be a key factor in this.

actually President Bush plans to withdraw about 8000-10000 troops next February even though it really IS up to the next president.
