I've watched some trailers and previews/clips of the game on my Wii last night but I don't know how I feel about it. I've encountered some AR cards in the April issue of Nintendo Power last Saturday and the illustrations for them looked interesting. It looks fun and all but Im not sure. It is rare that I buy a first party Nintendo game (Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Donkey Kong for example) unless it's a Super Smash Bros. game then Im sold but sense Kid Icarus: Uprising is a first party Nintendo game I am not really sure if I should get it because not many first party Nintendo games interest me or get my attention as they did when I was a child. I am getting a 3DS soon and Spirit Camera The Cursed Memoir is my top priority for the system but I don't know if I should be hyped to get Kid Icarus: Uprising. Are all the positive things about the game true?
I picked the game up a day or two ago, and have been playing it nonstop since. It's definitely one of the best 3DS titles released so far. The controls definitely take some getting used to, especially during on-foot segments, but once you get the hang of it, it's a fun and exhilarating experience. In terms of length, the game will keep you busy for a while if you're a completionist. The story mode is pretty lengthy, plus there's the whole weapons aspect of the game where you collect different weapons during gameplay through treasure chests or by defeating enemies and bosses. Plus, the higher difficulty you play on, the more likely you are to find a better weapon. The story is interesting, especially as the game gets closer to the end. Plus the voice-acting is never dull. Characters are always cracking jokes with each other, and there's even some 4th-wall breaking thrown in there from time-to-time. One more thing, the game is made by Masahiro Sakurai, the genius behind Smash Bros. You can tell just by looking at the main menu that he made it. All in all, you'd really be missing out if you didn't buy it.
I thought it was pretty interesting making a sequel so many years later. if pit weren't in ssbb, then this wouldnt even exist.
Kid Icarus is one of the reasons I actually got a 3DS. The story is funny, The gameplay is great (after you get use to the controls that is), and the multiplayer is phenomenal. The voice acting is really good too. I highly recommend the game. Oh and one more aspect that made me break down laughing was all the breaking the 4th wall jokes. Priceless.
Since this got bumped and I never gave my opinion: It's easily the absolute best 3DS game out. It's the killer app, much like Gravity Rush for Vita. The gameplay is fluid and changes consistently, the humor is fantastic when it shows up, and the story and characters are actually fairly well made. Plus, the online play is still going strong and feels like an original experience in the shooter world. Kid Icarus: Uprising>>>>>Ocarina of Time 3D.
