Is it legal to move in with an 18 year old when you're a minor?

I was thinking about it, 'cause I'm moving into an apartment this coming spring. My bro is 18, and he'll have all 18 year-old roommates (aside from me) living there. I'll be 17 during that time.

Is it legal to do something like that? I heard that you have to have one legal guardian of at least 21 years of age to do it.

And since we obviously don't have one I dunno how that'd work. @_@

Well if you are still a minor, technically he would have to have custody of you... which I don't think is legal. (At least in Michigan...)

My sister thats 15 took care of me when my mom died and that was before my dad got out of jail.. he's out now he takes care of me now i never got in trouble when my sis took care

Its not Illegal. My brother Is living with his friend In a house and they are both 18, and police have come over to their house and said nothing when they told their ages.

(The only reason the police came over and asked for details was because their supposed 'Friend' Is a thief so they had to give details about him and their friend)

 

It is completely illegal, do not tell the cops! DO NOT TELL THE COPS!!!

In the US i'm not sure, but in the UK that is perfectly fine.

My step sister (who is 17) has moved in with her boyfriend who is 18/19, and there was no problems there.

 

No its not illegal at all, since technically he is your brother, I don't know if he counts as your guardian though or if your parents are still your guardians until you turn 18. But one of my friends had moved out with her sister when she was 16, no one said anything to her about it.

side note.....your only 16? i thought you were older than that.....at least to me you always came acroos as early twenties....

Naw, I am out in California and there are some pretty strict laws with minors and adults, so it won't matter especially since it is with your brother.

If he is your brother and you are 17 you will be fine. Lines are hazy at the age of 16, but at 17 if he's willing to assume some responsibility for you, everything should work out. I moved out of my home in with friends at 17. It was not illegal.
