Is it bad that I've never played a Final Fantasy game?

I think I played one at my cousins, a few years back... might have been the sixth or seventh.

Is it as badass as Kingdom Hearts?

In FF games you have a bar that goes up. Once it's full you can select an action to do again but it is still considered turn based by most so I call it Action Turn based.

Any Final Fantasy game from I to XII is worth playing, along with Dissidia and the Tactics games. (My favorites are VIII, X, IX, and IV)

Skip XIII, XIII-2, and the original XIV.

No. There aren't very many good ones.

 

It depends on what you're into. If you are into fantasy and strategy, instead of just button-mashing through games (a la Kingdom Hearts), you may like them.

And no, it's definitely not bad. You, unlike most of us, still have the opportunity to play the FFs for the first time.

Do you know what a turn based RPG is? It's like that with one addition. There's this meter that fills over time called the Active Time Battle (ATB) Gauge. When the ATB gauge is full for a character, you can select a move for that character to do. This has been how Final Fantasy has worked ever since FFIV. Final Fantasy (the best FF game in my opinion), FFII, and FFIII all use regular turn-based battle systems with slight variations on it to make them all unique.

 

Now, think of who is saying this; think of how much it means.

if you want to get in, a lot of people's bridge game was Final Fantasy IV

I too wonder how he got into a Disney/Final Fantasy crossover without being into Final Fantasy.

 

I've played every numbered title except 2, 11, and 14, and they're all good in their own ways.

Personally, my favorites are 3, 9, and 13, but to each their own. I feel like you need to play the games to see if you like them, and just because you don't like one game in the series, doesn't mean you won't like a different one. (Eg; my brother loooooooves 7, but can't stand 10.)

But yea KH is like a gateway drug to JRPGs.

 

First and last Final Fantasy I played was 12.
