Plot: With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, must forge new alliances -- and confront powerful enemies. In my opinion, the plot seems a lot weaker than the first one's. But hey, I'm gonna see it anyway.
I can't wait to see it. Black Widow's in it as well, and so is Nick Fury, but I had hoped for a better villain than Whiplash like...Mandarin, of course. I'm not sure how I feel about him telling everyone he's Iron Man. I feel like they strayed on that just to have a plot point. But I'm still excited for this. And I love Don Cheadle, love the roles he plays, but I think the other guy made a better Rhodes than he did, but eh. EDIT: And War Machine is win.
I'm going to see this as soon as I've seen the first movie. I'll be renting it on DVD xD Anywho, it does look good, and I can tell that the ending will be something with Tony's unsafe generator being replaced by a combination of his and whiplash's generators or something. I'm not bothered whatever happens. I'm in it for War Machine xD
The same week I get a job at the movies complete with 2 free movie passes a week, this comes out. Perfect timing, I can't wait to see it, and I also can't wait to see what happens after the credits.
Whiplash may not have been the best villain choice, but Mandarin...he's been done to death. He is THE supervillain/anti-Iron Man, that, well, there isn't really any other villain in the same league as him except another iron man, and to go with another one (Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, etc.) would be a repeat from the first movie. I don't like that they (the writers) had Tony reveal himself to the public as Iron Man in the first one; they could've waited til the 2nd movie to do that. I am looking forward to Fury and Romanoff's roles in the movie, though; see what else this means for an Avengers movie. Eh...not too sure about either of them; the first guy didn't seem to fit the part. As for the second guy...Idk, I just don't see him as Rhodes, either. Rhodes seemed rather 'regular army' in the comics/cartoons, kinda macho. These two don't really seem to fit the bill.
Ohhh I can't wait to see this. I just saw the first one a couple of months ago and I thought was clever and hilarious
What? Tony's dual identity as Iron Man has been public knowledge amongst citizens in the Marvel Universe since 2002 and it was a decision no one has regretted and one that completely makes sense to the character. The film makers revealing it in the first movie was a great decision and I haven't heard anyone anywhere criticise that decision. Tony Stark in the movie-verse is a narcissist with self-destructive tendencies. Of course he would tell the public he's Iron Man. What greater way is there to gain more fame and publicity than by telling people you're a ****-awesome superhero? Them doing that also allowed for exploration in some great plots that haven't been done before in superhero movies. And let me tell you, they do follow it up rather well. I saw the movie last Wednesday at a staff screening at the cinema I work at. **** was pretty good. A real nice exploration of Tony in the middle of the movie and the chessboard is getting set up for the Avengers movie.
Tbh I didn't like the film all that much. Not it that wasn't entertaining or overly terrible, but I liked the first film better. Still looking forward to the whole Avengers shtick Marvel's got planned.
What I hate and love about Tony is the fact that if he didn't announce that he was Iron man he'd probably have only three villians because they are all villians due to him being a public hero. So without him doing this the story arc wouldn't be long enough. Does anyone think they are going to make Iron Man 3?
If this movie gets them cash, they will definitely make a third one. But I think the Avengers movie will come first. Also, IF they make a third one, it won't be made by the same director, I read somewhere that after devoting 4 years of his time to Iron Man, he wanted something else. OMGOMGOMG can't wait to see it. Loved part 1, and the trailer looked awesome. I am not that familiar with the Iron Man franchise, but I think that Whiplash looks promising. Like a real villain should be.
I just got back from watching it, and in my opinion, it adds to the collection of great superhero movies out there. Don Cheadle is good as Rhody, but I will admit I preferred the other guy more. War Machine, while undeniably awesome, annoys me as he invokes what I like to call "The rule of reload." You'll notice that his guns never require reloading. Ever. Even Iron Man needs to charge up his... Force Palm thingies. Blarg. Overall, I enjoyed the film immensely, althoygh two things in particular annoyed me: **************SPOILERS********************** 1). TONY FRIGGEN' STARK USED CAPTAIN AMERICA'S SHIELD TO BALANCE HIS MACHINE. HOW THE **** DID HE GET HOLD OF THAT?! 2). Final battle was too short. Whiplash just sliced at them a few times, then gets foiled by the power of Friendship Hax. Come on man! ************END SPOILERS********************* Otherwise, fine film. Loved it. EDIT: Also, looks like the next film will be Thor. Go figure.
