The iPads are the the hottest new product out there right now, but I don't want an Ipad.
All an iPad is, is a miniature computer. Reasons why I don't want another computer?
Because I already have one of my own that works fine, and you have an actual keyboard to type on.
What are your thoughts on iPads? Like? Dislike? Stupidest idea ever made? Planning on buying one?

I've always said no. You can get a cheaper tablet that has the same, if not better, quality. People may argue otherwise, but no matter what they say, I stick to my saying.

I wouldn't mind having one, but I won't buy one anytime soon. I wouldn't mine having any tablet, actually. Just preferably the iPad because I'd be familiar with it (I have an iPod Touch and iPhone 4).

And an iDevice is never complete unless you jailbreak it so...yea, that makes it at least four times better. c:

eh not my thing, but i could see how they could be useful for college students/professors/reseachers/etc who don't want to lug around a ton of books around, then again the e-reader and the laptop do that also.....

It'd be useful, like logn4 said, for college things, like even able to type up a report of some kind on there. (I don't have an iDevice, but I assume you could do that)

I personally would not get an iPad for the soul reason that I already have a Macbook Pro. (The only downside to that is they have no good apps for the Macbooks...)

If anything, I would most likely get an iPhone. 1. It is virtually the same, give r take. 2. It's a phone as well. Plus you can get most of the same apps as an iPad.

Of course its not for me, but I can see why some people would need/want one.

I don't want one. I'll be fine with something like a Droid with apps like it. It's just a giant IPod, and it's kinda ridiculous. My friend has one, since he got it as a gift, and it's really weird. I mean, it's a pain to type on, and just the size of it is a pain to deal with.
Not too mention, it's not really that much better than a IPod. It has the same apps and everything.

    Well, that depends.

I'm browsing the site right now on my iPad. If you like high quality, big screens and easy to use keyboards (easier than the iPod's anyway) then yeah, it's worth it.

If you have the cash, then go for it~

iPads or other tablets have never had much appeal for me; my solid netbook is enough for all my computer needs. Even if I thought I needed/wanted an iPad, its price tag is too expensive for me justify any seeming benefits I would gain from buying one, especially considering what I could do with that money instead.

Here's a link to a wonderful article by someone who received an iPad as gift, and her impressions of it: click here!

Also, may I add, tablets seem like expensive toys; not something you would use to get any serious work done, but they may actually be great entertainment devices.

i never found tablets to be that useful to be honest. the Ipad's "keyboard" is a real pain for me to type on because the virtual buttons are placed too close to each other. i can only type with two fingers instead of the amount i usually use for a physical keyboard.

i think the only reason i actually want one is because it's just one of those things that are cool to have, i admit it.

I never liked the Ipad simply for the fact it's an extra large version of the Ipod Touch/Iphone. Nuff said.

I seriously don't get the iPad. Can someone explain it to me? Serious question. What feature does it profess to offer that any other Apple product wouldn't? Especially with the rampant horizontal integration of features these days. I mean, I have an MP3 player, I have a phone, I have two computers. Does it do anything I'm missing?

Either way, I've had bad experiences with Apple. I doubt I'd ever get one personally, unless it turned out to increase your chances of finding a girl/boyfriend by 80% or so. 'Bout the only thing I can imagine I'd really need right now :L

I have an iPad. And quite honestly, they're no necessity. But they are extremely helpful for projects and for reading. The word processor is actually really decent and the documents can be exported to Word or printed directly, so it's really a lifesaver.

Not to mention how it's just the size of a notebook, so it can easily go into your backpack without any trouble. And well, in my personal case, I don't like lugging laptops around. But the tablet felt versatile and "on-the go" than a laptop has felt to me.

Just remember that it's not a laptop by any means. It's different. If you're a person who favors using desktop computers and don't want to carry another computer around, a tablet should do the trick. Does it have to be apple? No. But I guess that choice is up to the person who buys.

It's not a necessity. But it's pretty convenient to have.

How is the iPad different from other tablets though? Except more expensive, that's what I don't get. I mean, a tablet is awesome, but the iPad, I think, is overrated.

In my opinion, no. They're smaller computers and bigger IPhones and most people have on of the two already.
They are also highly unhandy if you want to take it out and about as they are fairly large unlike the Ipod Touch/IPhone.
Plus they can be quite expensive.

Truth is, I don't know. Mine was a gift. There could be many reasons. Some people just like to spend their money on the label? Others just like to have consistency and just love those small details apple products have.

I honestly don't know. It's no secret apple products tend to be expensive and overpriced.

Well, as far as consistency and small details on the iPad, I haven't found anything on the iPad that you can't have on other tablets, except for maybe Angry Birds (which imo is overrated)?
I mean, the Kindle Fire will hopefully knock the iPad down a few notches. I'm quite excited about it.

How is a Mac diffent from a PC? An iPhone from an Android? It's all pretty much the same deal.

Apple products are known for being high-end, more stable machines. I personally can't get passed the high price and lack of customization though.

Ipads (and for that matter all tablets) are only good for messing around with at the store for a few minutes. I mean sure you can do a few cool things with them but they aren't nearly advanced enough yet for me to even consider getting one. By advanced I mean spec-wise, as in you can't play an mmorpg on an ipad etc. Even if I had one I would probably sell it. But for some people it may be worth it, especially if they are really into apps.

It is the future though, just look at Windows 8... its designed to be run on tablets.

I am extremely happy with my netbook computer. It's also just as big as a notebook; I take it everywhere I go and it does everything I need a computer for. So the question for me isn't, "What can I do on a tablet that I can't already do on my netbook?", but, "How will a tablet be a benefit to my own convenience?" It's the same thing with PCs (Linux, Windows, Macs), or other devices.

Just like the person whose blog post I linked to, I probably won't find tablets all that useful or convenient until I've actually used one for myself. Convenience is probably the sole good reason to use a tablet, but they are definitely not something that's going to replace my netbook computer anytime soon; I can't imagine programming or writing an eight-page essay on one.

Anyways, it's ultimately up to each individual whether or not buying or using a tablet is worth it.
