Ah let me rephrase that; do you hate the invisible function?

He does. It doesn't let him stalk people and make threads when they haven't been online in two days.

    No, I don't.

I hate the reasons people use it for. Using it because you're in a bad mood and don't want to be bothered, are busy, etc. are legitimate reasons. However, most people here do it just because or because whether they're visible or not doesn't matter. And if it doesn't matter, why not just leave it on the default visible?

Some people like privacy and prefer when people can't just see what they're doing at the momet

I just use it because I don't like people to know when I'm online.
Yeah, that sums it up nicely.

But why? And give an actual reason. I don't consider "because Amaury is creepy" a real reason.

Some people prefer the privacy of invisibility. The thought of anyone "stalking" them, whether or not they're you, can creep them out and so they go invisible.

    It's just how humans are.

My therapist says that I like having my privacy because my mother was too protective of me when I was a child.

The thought that normal members dont know that I am on is somehow comforting. I can't explain it, but knowing that people dont know that I am on, when I'm on, or how long I am on makes me feel good for some reason.

What about using it because it's a feature that's included, and I want to use it? Why let it go to waste?

That's a very good statement, which is why I liked your post, but I still question it.

I mean, all the person sees are things like "Viewing forum list." It's not like they see their address and whatnot.

The person viewing the activity may as well be standing behind the other and glancing over their shoulder then :/

And I don't really see why you'd need to know what people are doing. As for the Staff, okay, I get why you would need to see, since they help out the site a lot, but I don't understand why it's so important to look at regular users' activity. If you're waiting for a PM, then at least realize they have other things to do at times. A lot of my friends on here are invisible, but I don't really care since I know they'll get back to me as soon as they can.
