This would be way before Katniss was born, but also different since any tribute would be able to win despite there ever being only one Discrict 12 winner. Anyone interested?

So there would be no spoiler for those who haven't read the book yet?

Only if you count the rules as spoilers.

Oh, I adore the Hunger Games!

I would love to join! Do you have a storyline planned out already? Maybe some plot twists?

This sounds interesting but I'm curious how it would work. It's just to go all the way through it, as it requires the majority of the characters to die. People won't want their characters to die, how would you decide a winner? Also you'll decrese in numbers as you go along, which makes it more likely to die, unless you have something in mind for people once their characters have died. I may join but as I said before, I'm unsure how you'd do it. Also on the OOC thread, I'd suggest putting up a list of what each district is famous for to make it easier for people to have characters that have skills that relate to each district.

When a persons character dies, the user can become either a spectator, such as a family member, or a gamemaker, to make it tougher for everyone. And yes, I will put that in, as well as the Career Districts are.

Seconding what Midnight said, some people won't want their character to die. They'll keep them alive at all costs, even if it means doing some odd.

    For example:

Andrew grabbed an orange knapsack from the Cornicopia, sprinting toward the forest. "I can make it, I can make it!" he said to himself with glee.
Midnight eyed the boy curiously, picking up a spear and running toward him. "He's mine!" she murmured. She tossed the spear at the boy's back with all her force. "No way he can dodge that," she chuckled.

Now, this can go one of two ways:

    1. Andrew felt a sharp pain in his spine as he fell onto the ground. Turning his head slowly, blood dripping from his mouth, he saw it: a spear! He didn't even notice it! His vision was becoming hazy as he said to himself, "W-why...?"
    2. Andrew, just as the spear was almost a foot away from him, "felt a presence". Without looking back, he made a sharp turn to the right, the spear whizzing past his left ear.

The second one seems a little... odd, doesn't it? That's what some people may do to stay alive, make up improbable reasons to avoid death.

I'm not exactly sure how you will ensure people will roleplay fair, maybe a rule or something. But anyway, just putting that out there.

It's a very interesting idea, but as discussed above, it might be fairly tricky to pull it off fairly and effectively

But if that was to be done well, then I would see no problem with this. It will also give us a chance to shed some light on more of the backstories of certain
    characters, like Haymitch

I had actually thought of making a roleplay out of The Hunger Games, but there are quite a few repercussions to this idea. If this were actually to happen, I would rather it be very well done, and with some style. I'm extremely picky when it comes to the aesthetics of something.

For a second point, this idea is just screaming for godmoddery - we would need, depending on the number of players, at least two moderators.

Third, The story on this would take quite sometime to develop on the part of the makers, and then after, it would take a long time to get to the actual Games, depending on how you want to do it. Preferably, I'd like to have the story start where tributes are not chosen yet and background story to each character would be fulfilled.

If the third point were to be the case, it would take some dedication to get to the actual Games, seeing as it would take a lot of time for the tributes to even reach the Capitol, depending on them.

If this plan is to be executed, it had better be done properly. I'd rather take over the engineering of the roleplay myself, or at least play a major role in it's creation, but . . .

Exactly. Although, in most rps that can also be seen in godmodding on the terms of the person attacking as by making your character do an unblockable/undodgable attack as it leaves no room for the other person to react realistically. The thing is that means most people would have there character survive if given the choice. So in this rp where people need to die, you kind of need that. Which leaves the dilemma, who makes the choice in a fight who wins and who dies. It's half worth having it as a semi competition with judges and everytime there's a fight they judge and pm them both saying who needs to die. I have no idea if that would even work but I'm still sceptical how you'd get around god modding and power playing.

Also, I'd suggest only having the first few posts with them getting chosen as rps where you're not interacting with anybody else is less fun and tend to die quicker. I'd have one or two posts per person with their back story/getting picked then quickly move on to the train and the capitol. Once you're in the capitol and people are interacting, you can keep that going longer.

I thought of this and I have a plan.
Haymitch will not be in this unfortunately.
The first posts will be remembering the reapings and they will be on the train close to the Capitol.
You and I will rule this Roleplay. I'll PM you what I have as soon as I get to use my computer. Saxima is now my second in command because she asked nicely.

even the the hunger games have horribly scarred me, I would be open to the idea of a hunger games based RP. As long as you have the tedious technicalities that woyld come with this style RP woeked out, then I'd be totally down for it. May the odds be ever in your favor.

    UPDATE 6-26-12:

    Things Worked out:
Where do we start?: We start on the train, just about to get to the Capitol, and each of the Tributes start remembering the Reapings.

Tedious Points: Just like in the book, important stuff (interviews, parade, etc.) will be shown, and a day of posting those parts will occur 'till we're done. Then there will be a timeskip to the next event.

What happens if we die in the arena?: You become A) A Gamemaker or B) A spectator.
Story: This will NOT be in any of the Quarter Quells. It will be in the 40th Hunger Games

Things needing to be worked out:

Mods to make sure there's no godmodding?: I'm still looking for mods or "RP Makers" to help build the rules and help moderate deaths. If you would like to help, PM me for more info.

This idea makes me very curious. Having the ability to actually have some suspense and signs of death in an RP completely interests me. Though the fear of people not posting would become an issue. You would have to counteract that with some sort of death. Only if it was drastic as in not posting for a week or two. Dying and becoming gamemakers also brings a new life to the entire game for the surviving individuals.

I call becoming a gamemaker after dying "Sweet Revenge". It's a great way to stay in the RP, even if you lost the Games.

Will District 13 still be around during this time? And to Myst. If people decide to stop posting, or haven't post in awhile,I would assume Saxima or Ventus would VM or PM them about inactivity and if they don't respond in X time, TrackerJackers randomly appear and they will be either A) Gamermaker or B) Spectator when they get back. It goes with the flow of the games and Rp

    I'm assuming not
because the games started after the rebellion that finished with district 13 being "destroyed", so they never parciptated in the games.

I would be willing to play, and let my character die at some point, but I wanna go out like a boss. Haven't read the books, only seen the movie, and have heard from my friends talking about it.

As long as my character doesn't die too soon, I'm willing to participate.
