Interest Check – The Jakyou Manor (A livestream about musical composition)

But Lappy, what is just exactly The Jakyou Manor?

The Jakyou Manor is a stream oriented those who are into musical composition or just into music itself. I shall stream myself composing musical pieces and maybe shine some light on my ways of working as you are free to join and chat with me. I might also stream myself doing some Photoshop one of these days.

Why “The Jakyou Manor”?

Because I like Shin Megami Tensei references (Jakyou Manor is also known as the Cathedral of Shadows, where demons gather AKA where you fuse them in the mainline SMTs). c:

Will this actually happen or…?

We’ll see. I need to test my sampler/DAW without the drivers which take all the audio sources and focus it on the DAW, and hope it doesn’t has enough popping when streaming/The CPU doesn’t implodes. I also still need to setup my streaming site account. I will keep you updated if any technical or personal difficulties arise.

When this will start, and how often?

It will start in around… A week and half maybe, providing everything works right, I have fully learned to use my new DAW (I'm changing it) and I have my upgraded PC by then. It will be streamed as often as I feel like doing (I have to be inspired in order to do a musical piece, after all)

Where will it be?

I have though in streaming it on Justin.tv. If you have a better idea to where to stream it do share it with me.

I'd also be interested in watching! I've had passing interests in music composing for fun & have never really sat down and gone through tutorials because I have no patience for that, so a more hands-onish thing like this could definitely be useful.

Yeah about that, I'll try to be as explanative as possible for those who had never composed music (Like the concepts of Velocity AKA how hard a key is pressed and how it affects the volume or other stuff, Automation AKA changing parameters like Tempo, Volume in middle of a song via curves and stuff, and so on), but if you don't understand anything I'm saying feel free to ask! c:

Also, while I'm going freeflow on the day and time I want to stream (Because streaming when I'm not inspired is kind of meaningless), I want to know, what day and time would be the best for you all? I'm down with any hour as long it's between 11 AM and 5PM (Right now it's 11 PM), but on Friday and weekends I'm completely free (But I still wake up around 11 AM). So do throw me some suggestions what time you would feel less tired/more comfortable with this. I'll try to follow your times as much as possible.

Just saying because I don't want to stream at a time nobody will be watching lol.

 

You're only about an hour ahead of me, and my classes throughout the week end right around when you're done for the day. :C M/W/F I don't have to be out until 12:30pm, so I could make the earlier showings throughout the week (~11 AM) and the weekend ones.

 

I could actually stream past 7 PM when I'm done with my classes/therapy on the week days, otherwise I think a weekend stream would be the best. How about around 1-5 PM? Or maybe after 6-7 PM?

And alright, no Thursday then. Anyways I'm more tired on that day because I just want the weekend to start lol.

 

I'm partial to 1-5pm, but either of those timeslots would work well for me haha.

Also, in the meantime why we wait for the week to pass out (Because I still need to upgrade my PC which I'm doing on Friday), anyone has questions they want me to answer now or on the stream with a demonstration? If is the latter I'll keep them on a Notepad document or something of the sort.
