    Titel says it all...

all it does is piss off everyone.

if they REALLY want to off themselfs they would make the thread in another section of the fourms...one that can ACTUTALLY HELP

its BS and it gives trolls an instant gateway to make a **** strom...

please, think about it and discuss.

    No.

You know what would actually help? If people in the spam zone took something like that seriously. It's a threat for a person to end their own life, and when people are like "HURRR DURRR PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN" how do you think that makes them feel if they truly are suicidal?
It's not like Help With Life is an obvious section - it's a subsection, wheras the spam zone is the MOST viewed section, and is where many members are commonly found, some of whom rarely go to Help With Life.

What makes it a shitstorm is when people try to be smartasses and attack the thread maker, and when he or she tries to defend himself, the attacks keep coming.
And it's not BS; after all, if I were suicidal the LAST thing I would be concerned about is if I'm posting a thread in the right section or not. Logically speaking, it would make more sense to post a thread asking for help when suicidal where most people are, as opposed to where it can be lost in Discussion to threads like "post your picture here derp".

I'm gonna say no as well. Most people will take one look at this site and see how everyone goes to the spamzone, therefore being the place to post anything truly urgent if it is serious.

I agree, I don't think a person making a suicide thread should have it locked. Something small like that might hurt them even more. I'd say see how it goes. It's the *******s of the spamzone that make it worse, there's still going to be decent people here. If people learn to grow up and be more mature about threads like suicidal ones and realize it could be something serious then hopefully it'll help the poster of the thread.

I understand why you believe they should be locked, however I don't agree. Sorry :C

I think this thread can be locked with the answer DPwolf gave. I saw the little charade in the Spam Zone, and I must say it was quite distasteful.

Regardless of the person joking or not, we cannot take chances in those kinds of situations, and they must be treated with precaution. It's bad enough the thread starter posted it in the Spam Zone, so it's better not to add to that.

There have been instances in which this has happened. And even worse, on video sites and what not. It's really unpleasant. It would definitely be better if we add as a rule not to flame suicide threads. That would be a good solution.

Granted, I had assumed that went without saying, since there is an entire section in the rules about flaming and harassment.

I'd rather not make an independent rule for it, as it does not happen that often, but I will be harsh in return if I must and hand out warnings to whoever would like to harass someone that is possibly suicidal. Regardless of who they are.

That being said, I'll lock this now.
If anyone has further comments or complains on this issue, PM me.

Actually, I'm not sure why people are saying 'no' to closing down suicide threads made, whether in humor or not. Maybe you feel it is as if they aren't being addressed on the off chance that they are serious? In the Help with Life area, suicide threads were discontinued to be allowed because in simple this is a game fan site; not a suicide prevention site and there are trolls who come here or there are people who cry wolf a ton of times for attention. People do help each other out there with various issues and get help back, but we do have our limits.

If someone posts in the Spam Zone and it is someone we don't even know barely if at all... I think it's safe to say that a majority of times it's a troll. On the slender chance it is not a troll, I think still the thread should be closed so that the person can be PM'd by staff and the person can get some assistance and even guided to the Help with Life area to post something -other- than suicide, as in what's eating at the person to contemplate the act in the first place. We are not a suicide prevention place and if the person is so serious, they need to be guided to get professional or at least family help. Many people here will help give guidance for so much else but if someone just is saying they want to commit suicide, what can we really do other than that? We simply do not have the power to do anything and there are MANY trolls out there that come to sites just to do this sort of act. I've seen it happen too often and they play with people's emotions, tugging the old heart strings, and get forum members fighting amongst each other. I'm sure anyone would feel bad if someone actually did commit suicide because they were joking, regardless of where the thread was posted. This is why the threads need closed just as much as to protect the person posting the thread. We can call people cold as much as we want and frown at them but it does little good really. Trolls want you to do that anyway and cause fighting. If you want to open the thread and debate this, please do as I'd be willing to hear the counter, but I think it's a far better action to just close the thread and staff PM the person to find validity, rather than leave a thread open so if it is a troll, the person can get das boot and if not, the person can be guided to help.
