Actually, I'm pretty sure there is a theory were there is infinite universes, each covering every possible combination of possibilities. Not a collection of ideas about other universes, but one idea that there is infinite universe covering all posibilities.

Theory implies a certain degree of understanding in the working of the mechanisms behind a phenomenon. At most physical and astrological sciences have hypotheses which involve speculations of infinite probabilities, but these in turn explain nothing truly scientific or empirical.

Personally, I referred to it as a theory because a hypothesis is something than can be tested. I can't exactly test the idea of Infinite Possibility, so I jumped to the next best thing.

A hypothesis is simply an educated guess. It only becomes testable if the means are present to do so.

The whole idea about alternative universes or possibillites is a real question with real physicists and scientists right now, though. There are so many possibillites in our lives, it's just the idea that the possiblillites break off and become reality seperatly. But it is a question right now, so either side could be right. We could be the only universe, the only way of things happening or we could be one of infinate possiblitlies.

It's kind of scary. That means you have no free will because you're just acting one way because another one of you in another universe is acting differently. No choice. And then there's the fact that it means you are destined to get hurt and there's no avoiding it.

Well since any action has an infinitely probable facilitation most are indeed inclined to the idea of multiple branches in the time-space continuum.

I do not think so...... If your saying that we all are predestined and have no free will then how would
a dude in a less advanced reality (like you mentioned) type on his computer to kh-vids.........
And wouldn't we feel repercussions of this enslavement by being forced to do things for no reason...
And if there are other dimensions..... They are all different..... There is no alternate world that is
a mirror image ours.... And I hardly doubt that there are fictional characters in existence.....
Fiction is created from our minds..... Just because I draw a picture of a guy I thought up, that
doesn't mean that he really exists..... If I make up a character called Jonny the mystical crap man...
I would not think there is a alternate reality were a guy made of crap is walking around....
So, there might be alternate universes, but they aren't anything that we could ever discover...

Well, the fictional character would be real since it is a possibility, and according to this idea, there are infinite numbers of universes, covering every possibility. And we wouldn't feel enslaved because we wouldn't know that we did this because of fate. We would think it's our choice

But the idea is that with every outcome we know to occur in reality there are an infinite number of alternate outcomes. Who is to say that in one of these outcomes that Mickey Mouse isn't designing a character named Walt Disney.

    Every little thing we do...

    Every little move we make...

    Every thought, action or inaction...

There is a possibility that it happened in a different reality/timeline.

Just by standing still, the world will move around us. Just by existing, there is a reality out there that someone or something else has already been considered.

Fantasy's reality is another way to put it. With the twitch of a finger or a tremor through your toe, it'll effect everything around you.

That's the possibilities of the universe.

The gist of it is right but it's not like every action/inaction etc. produces a profound and romantic effect on the universe. The minute details and events certainly have to potential to add up (i.e. What if Hitler was an alcoholic and "immoral" by the German peoples' standards?) but on their own they are simply a specific value equated a certain probability for occurrence.

any of you guys ever played chrono cross? there are alot of points in it where it focuses around alternate/parallel worlds/universes, time, fate, cause and effect, stuff like this. i can't explain it.

You sort of just did except it was more of an alternate time-line where Serge had died instead of being saved by FATE.

Well, this idea of infinite universes compliments yours. Every action does leave a little mark on the universe. Maybe not significant, but the present is made by the past. The future is just possibilites.
