Infected

Molli was at first taken aback, but then relaxed and sighed. "I don't want to intrude." Molli breathed. 'I don't want him to think that he has to do something for me. I wouldn't want to risk his life if one of the Infected found us.' Molli thought fumbling with her arm warmers.

 

" it's fine... Alot of survivors come this way .."

 

Molli contemplated the thought of being around other people. Then, she thought of the Infected and how they were out and roaming the streets searching for a stray like herself. "Ok, I g-guess if that alright with you."

 

"Go on in"he nodded "Theres some food in the kitchen ...I just collected my weekly shopping "he joked as he looked around for any infected

 

Molli awkwardly walked into the room and merely sat on the couch by the window. Molli took off her draw-stringed back pack, setting it by her ankles, and took out a Composition Notebook and began drawing in it. Molli was always an artist, well her drawings werent nearly perfect but she did know how to draw. "How long have you stayed here?" Molli asked, trying to make conversation aside from the silence.

 

"Almost a month now...I rarely go out at night...sometimes I have others living with me...when they leave to get supplies and I dont get back- Well sometimes Its better not to let people into your life."he said "Im Rhys George"he added heading back into the kitchen after locking the door and checking it throughly

 

Molli looked down. "My full name is October Phirelli, but I'd rather like to be called Molli." She continued drawing but kept her ears open and stayed cautious, incase an unnessecary disturbance occured.

 

"So whats your story?"he said leaning against the doorway,the bottle of vodka in his hand "surely its as tragic as everyone elses."

 

Molli shifted uncomfortabley in her seat. "My mom was an alcoholic and a drug abuser. She died when I was seven. My dad abused me and I ran away when the infection went viral because I had suspicions that my dad was infected. Nothing really major or disturbing." Molli shrugged. "Whats your story? I-If I may ask."

 

"Nothing like yours" He muttered "Came from a good family,was the youngest of three,had an older brother and sister"he smiled weakly "The virius hit and Mum and Dad,well my brother had to protect us...h-he killed them...not before Mum bit him though" Rhys paused to take a large gulp of alcohol then continued "He was fine for a while...he just got angry easy...then he got bit again twice and we realised...he was a cross infected...and the virius was slowly taking him away from us...He told us to go...to run...and when we did I got lost from my sister...lived rough for awhile...that was last year ...found this place a month ago...got no hope of ever finding mysister...or helping my brother...probably dead."he said quietly.His eyes flashed back to her and he took another generous gulp

 

Molli looked down and tried to hide her sorrow. "Thats rough. Seeing that happen and being taken away from your family. Your strong though, seeing what happened to your parents and being taken from your siblings." Molli fumbled with her sleeve and tried not to look up, sensing that Rhys was still looking at her.

 

He shrugged "Life goes on I suppose....you want anything to eat or drink? I just got a load of stuff tonight."

 

Molli shuffled uncomfortabley. 'I don't want to be rude or anything. . . ' Molli thought, still looking down. "I'm sorry, b-but I don't eat. N-Not really." Molli cautiously muffled. "I don't want to sound rude, but I sort of have Anorexia. So, I don't want you to think that I am being rude or anything." Molli flipped her hair out of her eyes and stuck her notebook in her draw-stringed backpack.

 

He lowered the bottle from his mouth slowly "How are you still alive? seriously? Shouldnt you try and eat something? or drink something at least?"He said,glancing down at the bottle in his hand,he offered it to her "I dunno if you drink alcohol,I dont always...but the water cut out three days ago...been hoping for rain."

 

Molli flinched back a bit. "I eat, and drink, just not all the time. I'm afraid of gaining weight and no thank you. I'm not a particular fan of alcohol." Molli managed to force a smile. "I'm still strong and can defend myself. I've managed alone for 2-3 years or so."

 

"You dont need a to gain a ton of weight...just enough to you know help you keep warm and stuff."he said letting his arm fall back down"I hope it rains soon...as much as alot of people would like to...nobody can live on various alcoholic drinks...Im not even sure it keeps you hydrated..."he shrugged "Theres a spareroom down the hall..."He moved back into the kitchen. This girl kinda acted like she was afraid of him...she probably was...he was a stranger...but he wouldnt hurt her...not unless she turned.

 

Molli nodded and spoke a quiet 'Thanks' and headed towards the spare room. 'Maybe if I just sit in here by myself for a while, then that will take the tension off.' Molli though, sitting on the foot of the bed. She set her backpack beside her and layed back, looking at the ceiling. 'This will all be over soon.' Molli thought. 'I'm just glad there is such thing as a nice person.'

 

Rhys moved back into the kitchen "well at least I know there are more survivors out there"

 

Molli sat up and took out her Composition Notebook and opened the window, sitting on the window frame. Drawing always helped her relax and it took her mind off of a few things.
