    The contest

Conrad Heinrich Adelbrecht Carsten von Eisenstein II

The trip to Hargeon town was uneventful and when they arrived their boat seemed to have been compromised so they were tasked with finding their own. Vance immediatly started to once again assert his dominance. He had to admit it was getting the work done when it had earned them a boat trip. Vance wielded his name like a cleaver inspiring fear and thus yielding cooperation of people, the name Dorian seemed to carry a lot of weight with it. He doubted his name was suitable for such usage since his family was renowned for it's fair treatment of it's workers and associates. It might be used to get advantages elsewhere, but Conrad was reluctant to try that. He just walked on board and sat down on the boat as another group of people joined them, he only recognized Malkira out of the group someone spoke up trying to start a conversation among them, he didn't recognise them or had the slightest idea of what their name would be, but after all cut short conversations he had it was a welcome sight and hoped this one would work out. So the other group was headed to Sian? Interesting. "
Good luck in Sian, then. Let's hope all will go well for both our parties now, shan't we?" He added to the conversation.

"Both our parities?" Zephyros laughed. "Only one person in our group can win, what you should really be hoping for is that their party, and yourself has enough luck to win the hand of Lady Nessa."

Calxiyn turned a white colour. "Sorry." She said to Malkira. She wondered who she could go talk to, and then saw Thea looking out at the ocean as they sailed. "Do you think we'll see dolphins? They're supposed to be good luck, though I don't know if we'll need it." Calxiyn asked Thea, smiling. "Ohhh, or maybe even a whale. Wouldn't that be amazing? Have you been on a boat before?"

Johanna had no idea what to think of Sara, could anyone be so stupid? As nice of a person as Johanna was, that was the first thing that came into her mind. She didn't feel like arguing with the girl, it would just humiliate her. "Thank you Silva, I don't know if Esuna will work, but it's a good idea. Very good of you." Johanna gave her a small smile, trying to change conversation. That's when the carriage jolted, and stopped. "That doesn't sound good..."

"Calm down everyone." Cassandra chuckled. "Similar to us, their Guild won't have all the members either. We'll be able to go after Erigor and whatever men he has brought with him just fine." She continued. "Erigor is silver haired, and it hangs down in front of the left side of his face. His eyes are dark, and his features are sharp. He has a lot of markings on his person. He is called the Reaper, or Death Bringer, and dresses like a Shinigami. But that's all I know of him. Try not to worry. You are some of the strongest of our members, though as new as you are. You'll be fine. You are free to explore the train, or stay in this car." Cassandra told them, before closing her eyes and leaning back on her chair.

Vance stood at the helm of the ship, staring into the sea beyond. His coat flapped gently behind him in the sea breeze as he watched the waters. It was rare that he travelled on a ship, and he planned to enjoy the novelty. That said, he wasn't fond of the constant rocking motion. He was not however, going to allow himself to be seasick. That would be very, very ungentlemanly. It was a finely crafted veneer and he didn't want to let it slip. He put his hands on the railing of the ship and continued to stare dramatically at the sea.

Caliborn decided that it was time to find out what the other group was doing exactly. There wasn't an S-Class around, so what were they doing out of the Guild? He approached the group that Conrad had joined to find out.
"What are the rest of you doing?" Caliborn asked. "I'm taking my group to Sian, but I'm not entirely sure what you're doing here. And without an S-Class no less."

So, that was Erigor's appearance. She was a little worried about fighting him now in truth. A man didn't become known as Reaper, or Death Bringer for no reason. He was a cold hearted killer, that was for sure. They'd have to stop him. No matter how powerful he was, he had to be brought down, or else everyone was in great danger. The Lullaby would allow him to be able to kill with ease. There'd be nothing they could do. It looked like Cassandra was done talking, given that she had leaned back and closed her eyes. Alessia took that as a sign to go do something else. She stood up.
"I'm going to look around the train a bit. I'll see you all around." She said, and then walked away. She turned left and started walking down the train, trying not to knock into other passengers walking around or hitting the seated people. It was so cramped in here!

"Suit yourself." Boreal shrugged. Damn, that was such a good idea. He'd have to figure out another way. The patience of this child was... Questionable. He remembered another one, Trevor. The one that was there before Derk. He wondered if he would come back, or indeed if there were others in there. So many people... He couldn't help but wonder how that happened. He'd heard of people with that condition, but certainly never seen them himself. Considering Derk's instability, he wasn't sure if he wanted to meet any others, although perhaps that was just one of them. Maybe the other ones in his head would be... More reasonable.

Jack's pov: So he got ignored that most like ment Cassandra didn't know the answer. "You also don't know were these items are." Then something occurred to him. "If these items are actually in the place we are going this Erigor or the the second guild might be on this train or both might be." He got up looking at everyone in that cart seeing if anyone matched the description of Erigor. They might already have the item. He carefully looked at the items people had to see if they could be used as a weapon or somehow could be the Lullaby. He walked down the train looking at everyone and seeing what they had on them. If the people or item were on the train he hopped he would spot them. If not at lest he know if Erigor was on it. He walk down the train making sure he look at everything as he went. He made sure he was carful enough in his looking at the people that he wouldn't rise suspicion as he passed by. He didn't want Erigor or the other guild know he was looking for them.

Cassandra, said things about Erigor and Alessia, and Jack left the cart. "Cassandra, sorry to bother you, but can I ask you something? Privately." He wondered if she knew why he was on this train in the first place.

The Carriage had stopped, that was odd. Looking at his colleagues he realised none of them were going to take the action to investigate, sighing he folded
"Don't worry I'll give it a look" he assured, he mumbled something about sending the least combat proficient into a potentially dangerous situation but he was certain nothing could go wrong. They were in a darkish forest in the mid afternoon. His heart started thumping nervously, what could possibly have happened? Was it dangerous? He searched around the carriage and found...

"Oh my!" Minx stated. "It looks like we accidentally stopped this carriage."

"Oh my, my." Jinx looked at the carriage curiously. "It looks like that it's a Wizards Guild too. That's a Crescent moon and a Star, I wonder what that means."

"Oh my, my, my. Master isn't going to like that one bit." Minx pouted, whispering to Jinx. They then saw Damian.

    "Hello!"

    "Hello!"

"AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" Damian shrieked in fear as the girls popped up out of nowhere, he sighed and breathed heavily, he was very easily scared "Sorry, sorry, I was just expecting some kind of monster, uh, hello" he waved to them, still in shock. "Uh... who are you? Did you stop the carriage? Because... yeah... we kind of need to get going..." he trailed off uncertainly.

    (Damian rolled a 2)

"Oh my, Jinx" Minx whispered to her. "I have an idea. Master will like us so much more if we..." Minx said something inaudible to Damian. Both girls turned around, and then ran forward, locking arms with him.

"Oh my, my." Jinx chuckled under her breath. She lifted the side of the dress, and took out a knife, putting it up to Damian's throat, now her arm around his front. "Too bad no one else came out there with you..."

"Oh my, my, my. Indeed" Minx laughed quietly. Then, using Copy magic, she transformed into Damian.

"Sleep now..." Jinx mumbled, using Sleep Magic on Damian. It was very effective (rolled a 9). Jinx then disappeared into the trees.

"See you later, Jinx." Minx spoke, then hoping back into the carriage. With Copy Magic, she now also had access to Damian's resent memory. Wizards that were supposed to go to a Wedding, and guard the Prince? No, Master wouldn't like that at all. She would have to talk to her once she got into the castle with them. They were close by, and hopefully she could sneak away. "It was just a tree branch, Johanna."

Johanna smiled at Damian. "Thank you for clearing it out of the way, let's keep going!" Johanna gave him a nod.

"They bring good luck? I have never heard that before." Thea said as Cal walked up beside her and began to speak to her about what they might see in the ocean as the sailed. "I really hope that we see something, I don't care what, animals in the ocean are so pretty!" She exclaimed. Thea was slightly glad for Cals company though the girl slightly scared her due to the events that brought her to the guild. However talking to a person who she could only speak when spoken to and only answer what has been asked, got boring at times, she wanted to talk freely. Thea then turned to answer Cal's other question. "When I was younger my daddy took us on his boat all the time. It was so much fun!" She told Cal.

Silvia had not gotten up to go check out what happened, she was too nervous to go out by herself. When Damion went out she got prepared to follow him out but he came back in before she got around to it. "I heard other voices, what where those about?" Silvia asked, sitting right near the door she could hear out of the carriage slightly, she couldn't hear what was being said but it concerned her slightly just the tones she heard.

Derk looked around for something else to destroy. "This is so boring! Why did George make me do this?" He shouted out stomping his foot. He was not a happy camper at this time.

It was then that a mysterious knife had flown into the carriage and shanked Sara. The blond soon collapsed on the ground and bleed out to her death and no one cared at all.

Now before someone has a fit about the above sentence, it didn't happen. Moving on Sara was clearly determined on her one sided hated of royalty and it was clearly not worth the trouble of dealing with her. It'd be much simpler to ignore her existence all together. On to more important things, when the carriage had stopped Damion had been the one to go check it out. A scream followed before silence. Then Damian had returned.
    "What was that scream?"

Leo had drunk the potion that Silvia had prepared for him and it had actually helped him a bit. The sickly look on his face had slowly vanished and some of his strength had started to return. All that plus the carriage coming to a stop had really served to help him. "Just how big was the tree branch for it to stop a carriage?" Despite them now moving and his motion sickness slowly started to come into play again, he was still able to speak without sounding sick. Still, it would have to be a pretty big branch for a carriage to now be able to jut drive right over it.

    ~The Outlands~

Footsteps echoed on the sand. Panting breath rang out in the air. The blond mage ran as fast as he could. Nothing was visible to the eye, but he knew that he needed to run for his life. He was being hunted. Something burst from the sand in front of him. A pincer? A talon? He couldn't tell what it was. He didn't have time to look. It swung down, attempting to crush him. Ezekiel leaped into the air, firing a missile of arcane energy at the appendage as he passed over it. Diving into a roll as he reached ground once again, he kept up his full sprint. When he had struck the part of his pursuer, a deafening screech rang out through the desert landscape. The ground shook. From beneath the earth, the hell beast that chased him burst from the sand.

He didn't turn around to look at it. He knew that if he stopped running for even a moment, it would be the end for him. He panted heavily. He was running out of stamina. He would be caught eventually. If he were in his ascended form, he could defeat it. In fact, he it was entirely possible he could simply break out of this prison. Although, there was no proof to that theory. Even if he could have, that would defeat the purpose of the punishment if he were to simply force his way out. In any case, there was no point to thinking about this now. He was faced with a horror of this land in his unascended form. He'd been playing cat and mouse with this creature for what seemed like days. it caught up to him. There was only one way he was getting out of this. He had to kill it.

He leaped backwards into the air, using his magic to vastly increase the distance he jumped. The beast passed under him and he fell onto it's back. It looked like something out of a nightmare. The moment it realized its prey had stopped running and mounted it, it swerved. Beginning to move in a circle, it turned on it's side, evidently attempting to wrap itself around him. Though it hadn't expected to turn and find itself pelted with a primordial burst. The force of the arcane blast knocked it back, stunning it momentarily. This was his chance. Kneeling, Ezekiel punched the body of the creature where he stood. The air around him crackled with arcane energy. Raw magical power flowed out of him in visible form. Sweat poured down his face at the sheer effort of sustaining the magic.

"Arcane Barrage!" He cried out. He called upon the power he had while ascended. Humans weren't meant to use this kind of magic. The sheer amount of magic flowing through his body caused his muscles to scream in agony. Not only that, but it was almost unheard of for someone to have the power to even attempt a spell of an ascended. Ezekiel remembered what his father had told him. That he was unimaginably gifted in the art of magic. With enough training and discipline, he could eventually rival the strongest of the wizard saints, although Ezekiel had always believed that comparison had been overly flattering. It was only due to his memory of the spell during his time of ascension giving him the ability to cast it with less effort than most that it was even possible. A groan of effort escaped his mouth as he called down the spell. Streaks of blue cracked the sky. Three blinding pillars of raw power struck the ground, causing the desert sand to explode. The force of the blast managed to blow even the enormous creature out of the ground and out into the open. The full scale of its body was unimaginable. Were he in a less dire situation, Ezekiel might've stopped to stare in awe at the sheer size of it.

But he couldn't afford that. It was vulnerable. This may well be his only opportunity. After throwing several spell fluxes along the ground at it, he fired a primordial burst beneath it. The explosion knocked it into the air. Ezekiel swiped his hands. At his command, arcane runes wrapped themselves around it, suspending it into the air. This would be the finishing blow. He gathered up energy in his hand, wincing in pain. This was even worse than when he had cast. While he was ascended, he had experimented with arcane magic. He refined it, improving upon the spells in the texts. Before the assault on Sapphire Eclipse, he'd been in the process of creating an entirely new spell. He'd never cast it before, even while ascended. He summoned up as much energy as he possibly could. He poured everything he had into this attack. His knees nearly gave out beneath him. Even with the additional power of a second origin, it wasn't enough. It was simply to impossible to be cast by a mortal man.

No. That wasn't right. True Ascension was not what he had. He'd cheated his way to power. A ritual to convert his physical existence into magical energy had indeed granted him immense power, but it wasn't how it was supposed to be achieved. He knew from the texts that it was a taboo to perform that ritual. Ascension could be achieved another way. By expanding one's magical power to encompass their entire being, one can achieve a natural ascension. He would regain his ascension, but this time, it would be the proper way. "How am i meant to achieve a power like that if i can't even cast this?" Screaming in effort, he pushed harder. Gathering magic that was better left unused. A blue flame danced along his body, crackling with energy. "Transcendent Arrow!" He thrust his fist forward, and there was a silence. An unnerving silence, like the calm before a storm. All at once, the magic burst from his palm in an earth-shattering torrent of power. The beam was blindingly bright. almost white, but with a slight blue tint. It looked as though it were on fire. The same kind that coated the caster. The air around it was ablaze. It seemingly ceased to be, destroyed sheer by the act of touching the beam. The spell achieved its purpose. It pierced the creature's center, splitting it entirely in two with ease. A scream of agony came from the hellish beast as it too was lit ablaze by the blue arcane fire, burnt away into nothingness. Not even ashes remained. There was simply nothing where it used to be under the destructive force of the spell.

After using the spell and defeating the creature, Ezekiel collapsed onto his back. He tried to move, but found himself unable to feel his body. it was likely that using up such an incredible amount of magic all at once had put too much stress on him for his body to handle. For the moment, he was paralyzed. He let his eyes slide closed. He would sleep for days, his body trying to recover the energy that had been used up. If he survived this sleep, it would be due to luck of the creatures not finding him. Perhaps they had seen the death of the largest of their kind and now feared him. If only...Ezekiel let his consciousness slip away as he fell into a deep sleep.

Quinn sat on the train, listening to Cassandra. He'd heard of this guild briefly, but didn't really know too much about them. From the sounds of things, Erigor was a real nutjob. Just the fact that he was messing with a dark artifact was enough to tell him that. There was magic that shouldn't be disturbed. This was one of them. A dark guild...He'd had experience with that type of guild before. He'd eradicated it too. He looked around at the others there. They were all pretty young. He hoped that he didn't have to repeat his actions in order to destroy this guild...

Scarlett turned towards Caliborn, a little confused and a little annoyed by the fact that the other group had managed to go without an S-Class. "I thought you said it would be a while before we were able to go on missions on our own?" It was mostly just inquisitive, yet one could clearly tell that she was annoyed by her body language. Her arms were crossed tightly across her chest and she was leaning back against a mast of the ship. Scarlett's eyes were squinted slightly in annoyance and her head cocked to the side, her eyes glancing from Caliborn to the other group members.

Johanna payed the carriage driver as they arrived in the town square. "It looks like there's a festival going on here!" Johanna exclaimed.

"Indeed, a wonderful display if I do say so myself." Samantha chuckled. "It's a jousting of sorts, our Prince seems to be enjoying himself quite a bit."

"Hmmm... a jousting. Someone should go up and beat him."

"Surely it won't be so easy." Samantha told Johanna. "He is a master."

"Well we're Master Wizards." Johanna boasted slightly.

"Ohhh you must be from Sapphire Eclipse. My apologies. My name is Samantha, I'm the Princes tutor and mentor. Very pleased to meet you."

"I'm Johanna, and this is Skadi, Zwei, Silva, Sara, Amanda, and Damian." She smiled.

Cassandra was trying to have a vision. She was trying to see where Erigor might be, but she was unfortunately interrupted by Ander. She opened her eyes quickly, and then turned to him. "Of course." She stepped out of the train cart. "What do you need, Ander?" Cassandra asked. Ander was an odd one, so she wasn't sure what to expect.

Scarlett seemed to take the idea that they had gone out on a mission without an S-Class quite personally. She was... Eager. To say the least, but perhaps a little entitled. She didn't realise that he didn't know anything about this either and largely suspected that they weren't on a licensed guild job. Edric was still at the Guild, as was GexIn, Mikasa and Dale. They would have led a mission if they were going out on a guild job, that was for sure. So... Something wasn't right here. And still, who was that man they were with?
"That only applies if you're going on a licensed guild job. I actually have no idea what they're doing. Whatever it is, it wasn't on our notice board. GexIn, Mikasa, Edric and Trevor are there, keeping an eye on Dale and Boreal. Two of the S-Classes could quite easily leave and accompany them." Caliborn replied. "And don't give me that look Scarlett. You're directing irritation at the wrong person. Perhaps you should ask that man over there that our Guild Mates are with? I'm sure he'll explain exactly why our wizards are out here, after all, he's with them." Caliborn pointed at Zephyros. He shrugged,
"Or you could ask one of your fellow wizards. Vance is over there, Thea is over there, Conrad is around and a couple of others. They're there to ask. Find out yourself." He pointed out each of the people in turn and allowed Scarlett to make her own decision about what to do about it.

He followed Cassandra out of the cart so no one could here them. "Sorry again." making a slight bow to her. He did not need the guild member to be mad at him is some magical mystic way. "Did you know I would be on the train?" Is it some odd fate that I am here?" he looked at her and the one question that he really wanted to know he had to ask it. "How did Evanora become guild leader?"

    Sara's pov:
Various things happened. They were stopped by a tree branch and other odd talks on the ride.
"Jousting, how does it work? Like I do not get the concept of it, like do you get points or something? I rather not. I do not know how to Joust much less use a sword." She was watching the so called Jousting, but was still confused.

"You forgot someone." Leo said, stepping out of the carriage. His motion sickness practically gone now that he was off the moving carriage "I'm Leo." He sighed before looking around at the festival that was being held. Jousting, he'd never seen it up close before but he did have some knowledge on how the game worked. Some being the key words there. Johanna seemed to have confidence that someone could beat him, which naturally the princes's teacher refused this claim. "How is the prince fairing?" Leo questioned.

Cassandra listened to Ander intently. "I thought you came with us." She told him. "Evanora was chosen by Precht Gaebolg." Cassandra explained. "He was one of the founders, so naturally he was chosen after Mavis. After that, he was entrusted to be the second Master. When Evanora was old enough, Precht made her Master of the Guild, saying that love for her allies and her capability to believe, would make Sapphire Eclipse into a good Guild. He then went on a journey. And he was right. We're one of the strongest Guilds, and he was right to put faith into Evanora."

Was Sara that Daft? "Oh, sorry Leo! I'm not usually accompanied by you, I forgot..." Johanna giggled a little

"The Prince is fairing quite well." Samantha smiled.
