In The Times Of Fairy Tails

"Actually, you know what never mind. You guys are too cute!" Alessia conceded, just to keep up appearances. She wanted to make sure that they didn't think there was too much wrong over here. She looked to Johanna and Ren and spoke discreetly. "Find out what's going on, then one of you come find me. I want to know what's going on here." With that dealt with, it was time to go play with them. She saw Ander over here too. He was kneeling down getting to know one child, but she had an idea. Maybe if they did it differently... What if they did it all as a group? They were wizards? They had magic, so, could they have some fun with that? With this in mind, once Ander had introdced himself to the child, she pulled him aside.
"Hey, Ander, I have an idea." She said. "Why don't we get them in a group, then we can introduce ourselves as a group. And then we can show them some of our magic. That'll entertain them won't it?" She was noticeably happy and excited. Children were wonderful! It was a nice distraction from the serious issue and besides, if anything came to hurt them, her and Ander were there to keep them safe.

 

Scarlett's first night at the guild wasn't exactly a cake walk. She had remained awake past midnight, staring at the bottom of the bunk above her. This felt weird. Wrong, almost. She had never slept in the same room as anyone else before, except for that one time she discovered a hobo sleeping in the bath tub of an abandoned house that she broke in to. Yeah, not one of my better nights. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, leaning on the wall behind her. She ran her hands through her hair, sighing. It was so quiet here. Like, a weird quiet. Not the stressful quiet, but a still silence. There wasn't a threat around, unless you count the other girls deep in sleep. Scarlett didn't really know what to feel. It was just plain awkward. And it was about to get worse.

She woke up curled in a ball, shivering. When she heard the other girls moving around, Scarlett jerked up, reaching down in between the wall and her bunk for her bow. She had hid it there the night before, just in case. As she brought it up, things came crashing back. The guild. The people. Ugh. She sat up, combing through her hair with her fingers. Day one was off to a sucky start.

She got changed into a pair of black stretched out jeans with rips in all the right places, perfectly framing her build. She through on a faded gray tank top that was probably a bit too low that necessary. It only took a moment for her to through her hair up into her casual ponytail and walk out the door, into the main guild hall area. She walked straight up to the Job assignment board and was happy to see that she was on a mission with Dale. A small breath of relief escaped her mouth as she turned to find him. She scanned the room and found her exactly where expected; in the corner of the room. Well, this could either be really awkward or really chill. Here's goes nothing.

Scarlett made her way across the room, not caring to look at anyone else. She pulled the seat out across from Dale and sat down promptly. "Looks like you're stuck with me today." A smirk crossed her face as she leaned back in her chair. It wasn't really in a flirty tone, it was almost more of a pitiful tone.

Ren raised an eyebrow at Johanna in disapproval. "You not telling us things like this is not good for the mission, or for your relationship with the new guild members. How are we supposed to trust you if we're always second-guessing whether you've told us everything? Besides, even if any of us didn't want to help with the mission now that we know more, there's nothing to stop us from leaving right now."
Ren sighed, and rubbed his eyes in exasperation. "Look, sorry if I'm coming across as lecturing you, but I just can't not say anything. Anyway, let's move on," he continued, resolved to forgive Johanna for the slip up and also move the conversation on to something more constructive. "This business about the spirit, this is serious. Can you tell us anything more specific?" he asked the Pastor. "What do the children do while being possessed, does anything in particular happen before and after this, and is there any specific time that this happens?" Any information the Pastor could offer would only help them solve this problem. Also, the fact that the children were being put through this put a bad taste in Ren's mouth. He didn't like it when kids got caught up in something strange or dangerous. They deserved a little more innocence in their lives.

 

Child's play

Skadi yawned as she walked into the guild hall. She hadn't slept particularly well, and so the girl was extremely tired. Skadi's night had consisted of trying to get some sleep but failing, then staring at the door as though she was just daring that creep to come back so she could ice him, followed by rolling over and getting maybe an hour's sleep before the cycle began all over again. It had been a very tiring, restless slumber, to say the least. Slowly, she walked over to the job request board, and was somewhat surprised to see Gaius standing in front of it, looking at the jobs themselves. "Hey, Gaius! I never got to congratulate you for yesterday. I knew you could win, you were great!" Skadi exclaimed, clearly happy for her friend.

Gaius had slept like a rock. Uninterrupted sleep, completely comfortable in his new bed. There hadn't been too much interaction between people, or at least none that he could remember, and that was sort of disappointing for him. He'd been looking forward to getting to know the people there, but he had shrugged it off and gone to sleep, figuring there was plenty of time for that in the future. After all, he was part of the guild now, and that meant he was part of something as close to a family as you could get. Apparently he'd slept too well though, being one of the last people to wake up. In just a few minutes, the boy had quickly gotten dressed, put on his scarf once again, and raced to the job request board. He didn't want to miss out on getting a good job, so he ran as fast as he could. There he had stood, looking at all the jobs and wondering which one he wanted to go on. The labyrinth one sounded like he'd be able to give a good beat down on some dark guild members, so that one stood out to him. As he had decided, Skadi had approached him and congratulated him on winning.

Flashing a friendly grin, Gaius looked in her direction and gave a quick thumbs up. "Of course I was! The others fought really well, the girl nearly had me, but there was no way I was going to let myself lose on the first day" Gaius replied confidently.

"Right. Oh yeah, you wouldn't happen to know anything about a boy being sent to the wrong dorm, would you?" Skadi asked, the expression on her face saying it all; she already knew the answer.

Gaius nodded his head slowly. There was no point in lying to Skadi, not that he would even if he could get away with it. "I sent the creepy guy there, I figured it'd be a good laugh. Was it?" the fire mage asked, genuinely curious.

"No it was not a good laugh! The guy came in and began flirting with me while I was getting dressed! He made it seem like it was some kind of game, like he was entitled to any woman he wants!"

"He WHAT?!"

"Yeah! Think about that next time you plan on sending him to the wrong dorm!" Skadi said, clearly annoyed with Gaius. She took a quick glance at the job board, decided on which one she wanted to go on, and then she went and walked over to Caliborn. "Skadi Wynter, signing up for the job. I've never worked with curses before, but if a child needs help I'm more than happy to help in any way I can" the ice mage said, signing up.

"Well geez, sorry Skadi.." Gaius said, clearly not knowing what to say as Skadi walked away. He felt bad now, he hadn't planned on things going so horribly. Gaius had thought people would have found the whole thing hilarious, but now not even he found it funny. With a sigh, Gaius walked over to Mikasa. "Looks like you get to go on a job with me. Let's beat up some dark guild mem-" he began, before he saw who else had signed up for it. "You" he growled, stepping closer to Thomas. "Pervert!" he shouted, diving forwards, tackling Thomas to the ground, and punching him a couple of times in the face.​

Ander's pov:
How this woman knew his name was beyond him. He now knew the mans name as Ren.
He was a wizard a mage of some sort. perhaps She herd it from some were. "You know who I am."
He did know who this woman was, but he still thought of her as a high rank person. High ranking people disappointed him in the past perhaps she was different.
"I don't see the harm in showing them magic as long as we are not teaching them any." He could be wrong after all he was so go at magic that he had to be thought something. He did want to pry but he was curious about this women. "Are You a mage? How old were you When your started magic? or saw it? I mean I will just shut up now." Alessia made him nervous for some reason. She was a person but the rank how far could he take it to until he got into trouble.

"Calm down there. There's a better time for these questions. I'll tell you later. Let's just get the children talking and then we'll chat. I don't know what sort of magic you can do, but I use Aero mostly so that'll be my trick. If you've got anything else then you can use that." Alessia replied. Jeez, he was a little nervous. All those questions just came blurting out. It was weird. She had just started, like he did. What was getting to him? Was he nervous around girls or something. I'm not that bad am I? Hmm, some people were just socially nervous. Maybe he was like that. Well, if that was the case then she'd have to be accommodating to that. No need to make someone feel even more awkward. She would sit down and chat to him as soon as the children were dealt with though, but until then he'd have to wait.

CLACK CLACK CLACK

She looked around to the source of the noise. It sounded like someone was whacking a stick against something, and as the sound went on, she could tell it came from the treeline. She squinted. Nope, nobody there from what she could tell. In that case... She'd have to take a look. That wasn't a normal sound. She frowned. Why would someone do that? Something just felt, weird. It had to be a child right? Adults didn't do that. Not usually. Her suspicions about this place already piqued and now the thought of a lost child when the children were in danger... That set off alarm bells in her head.
"Hey Ander, look after them. I'd better go find out what that was. If there's a child out there, I should bring them back. I'll be right back." She sounded a little distant as she said that. She was trying to figure out what would have made that and why, but child was the only thing that sprung to mind. CLACK CLACK CLACK. Still going. It didn't stop. What was going on? Were they lost? Did they want attention? CLACK CLACK CLACK. She started running toward the trees as fast as she could, acutely aware of the sword at her belt. If she was needed then she had to be there as quick as she could. What if they were in danger?

Before long she was there. It wasn't hard from that point. The whacking noise was louder, louder always louder as she got near. She searched hurriedly, trusting her ears to lead her right. Where could this lost one be? Where? Where? Where? As she searched, the noise was louder than ever. She saw something moving from behind one tree and turned around it, to see the child.

The Pastor sighed. "Johanna had the best interests of the Church at heart, for we've had many Wizards come but they all cower in fear." He explained. "The child in possessed shows normal behavior for the most part.” Father said. "But they are very much loners, and don't seem to speak at all." He explained. "No harm has come to any of the children. It only happens for a few hours at most and then everything is normal again." The Pastor explained.



"I've tried to heal them myself, but it doesn't matter how many times I do, it keeps coming back." Johanna explained. She wasn't sorry that she lied. It was an odd thing to think, especially on a church's grounds, but she owed Father her life.

Mikasa only watched as Gaius started to beat Thomas up. She had given Thomas a look when he came over here. A look that was not very nice. She almost seemed to encourage Gaius, giving him a nod.

"Tap tap." She was deep in the forest, tapping on a tree with a stick. She was sitting on the ground, cross legged. "Tap Tap. Tap tap." She just stared at Alessia, her face expressionless. She barely even flinched.

Ra had spent a bit of the night conversing with the other three guild members which shared his room. As it happened, Thomas had gone to the girl's dorm by mistake and almost paid with his life for it. That boy would indeed be a handful. The man had awoken before the others and donned his golden suit of armor. He'd eaten a quick breakfast of nothing but a slice of bread. Ra wasn't one to eat a lot at any given time. You'd find him with a small plate at a massive feast. He'd been waiting at the job board for certain people to arrive. Last night, he'd decided that those four would be who he joined with. The first out of them to arrive was Thomas. While the boy had his...flaws, there was a certain sense of potential about him. Perhaps he would grow into a man worthy of the respect of those around him. Thomas hurriedly ran to Mikasa, excitedly claiming that he was going on that mission.

"Well, there is something to be said about your courage." Ra said, approaching the group. The words would've gone well with a laugh, but Ra merely said them in a more lighthearted tone than usual. Perhaps that was the golden man's version of a joke. He turned his head to the girl who's name he didn't know and greeted her with a "good morning" before proceeding to Mikasa. "I will be embarking on your mission as well." With that information given to her, he turned to the others who had participated in the brawl yesterday, Who had all assembled for the same mission. Perhaps it was fate itself that brought the five of them together. However, there was a bit more than simply signing up for the mission. After Thomas' escapade last night at the girl's dorm, it seemed that he was in the bad graces of more than just the female members of the guild, and Gaius immediately tackled him.

Bending over, Ra picked up Gaius and Thomas, each by the back of their shirts, and held one in each hand away from the other. "Your foolhardy desire to fight could be admirable in a sense, were it not directed at your allies." Ra pointed out. "The five of us have all gathered for the same mission. I've been meaning to speak with you. Thomas, Veilen, Charlotte, Gaius. I have a proposition for all of you. After some thought, i have decided to form a team. We may start out to be nothing worthy of notice, but i will ensure we grow to the strongest team in the entire guild, and by extension, the entire world. After seeing all of you yesterday in the fight, I've decided I would like to offer you all a place on this team. What say you? Will you join me on my journey to greatness?" Ra offered, pride filling his voice. He was dead serious. He believed that the five of them together were capable of becoming a team that, at some point in the future, could far surpass even any of the S-classes. There was a certain charisma about him, something that made you believe in him. Believe that he was capable of it.

Satoya High School

Plus it was pretty hard to say no to a 6"4 guy in a GOLDEN BIRD SUIT THAT WAS SHINY ENOUGH REQUIRE SUNSCREEN FOR BEING HIS PRESENCE! Like, Jesus man. That **** was bright. Beucette had considered going on that mission, but Azir was bad for her eyesight. She needed her eyesight for looking at important things. Like boobs. Boobs were important. Speak of the devil, there was her roommate Lucia! She was totally into her. Last night, she'd played hard to get so much that it was like spelling it out in the sky! Her back still hurt from the judo flip of love. The white haired woman practically floated over to the back table by Dale.

"Hey there hon, I'll be headin' out on this mission if ya don't mind." She said in her typical southern bell accent to Dale. She then proceeded to sit back and wait for the others to arrive. She made sure to sit directly across from Lucia, and blew a kiss at her. I mean, they were practically already dating as far as Beucette was concerned. Plus, this was an anime RP. It was cute when a girl was blatantly stalking someone in anime, right? Right. This was going to be a fun mission, she could already tell. ​

Ander's pov:
He watch as the woman left was she just a meber or was he a high Rank he did not know. the way she looked one would thing she was a high rank but the way she was there was none of that power thing.
"My name is Mr. Ander I will be your fun for the evening." He then gathered the children around. "so who here wants to see a magic trick?" He pulled a Flashlight out of his bag and waited for an answer.

"I've accepted a new Job, it's a very high profile one." Mikasa explained. "The client has requested we exercise the upmost confidentiality." She told them. She was all serious now, sitting very proper. "If the Media or the Magic Council got word of it there would be panic and uproar." She flipped her hair, so she was able to see the paper in front of her. "You see, the client of our case if the former ruler of the Magic Council. This is why we should avoid attention as much as possible."

"Mizuki, I would like you to stand in for me." She told her. "There are other Guild members, from other Guilds taking up this Mission as well, and I doubt it is any surprise I'd want to be around such bottom feeders."

Caliborn heard her words and stood up immediately. He strode over to her quickly. That kind of behaviour could not be accepted in the guild. She was too prideful. As much as he liked her it was unacceptable. As soon as he reached he folded his arms and looked at her flatly.

"Mikasa that's enough. You're an S-Class Guild Member. You're meant to be leading these people and inspiring them, not putting them down like that. Remember Mikasa, you were like them once. New, not as strong as you are now. One day, these people will be powerful guild members like yourself, but we must all start somewhere. Now, you will lead them on this mission as Evanora has dictated. She will know if you don't."

She nodded. "Evanora said it would be wise to have Mizuki stand in, Sir." She answered him, almost with a sense of embarrassment. "I meant no disrespect to you or The Guild."

"Very well, but learn to speak carefully. Your words can have effects on those around you. Excercise a measure of caution in the future. These people are your guild mates, and that alone should afford them some respect. The rest they may earn in time, but you are expected to be civil."

"Yes sir!" Mikasa stood up, giving him a salute. Of course the New Members had never seen Mikasa get pushed around like that. She almost smiled after seeing Caliborn.

"When you're ready, we can depart." She said, coldy, trying to hide the blush on her face.

Ander's pov:
He smiled he done this this so many times to just came to him.
He showed the children the flashlight hand no batteries in it. He then put the top on.
"abra peanuts" He then hit the switch and the Flashlight tuned on.

 

Calxiyn had slept ok last night. She was so excited to go on her first Mission, she could barely contain her excitement. Even now her hear pounded. She had been blessed to go on a Job with Dale. He was super good looking, and looked even stronger then any of the other members here. Of course she meant other then the S-Class, who looked like they could move mountains. Calxiyn walked over, and poked Dale on the shoulder. "Hello!" Calxiyn smiled. Her golden curls sparkled in the lanterns light. "I'm Calxiyn, Sir." She told him, bowing a bit in her pale pink dress. "I'm honored to be going on a Job with you." She told him. Her voice was sweet and sparkly, and her eyes were filled with excitement.

 

Child's Play



Sometimes Mikasa could be a lot of work. He dearly hoped she learned to drop the pride eventually. She could be nice at times, but she was just so trying most of the time. One of these days she was going to get herself in a lot of trouble. He could scarcely imagine the stress that she must cause Evanora. Sighing, he returned to his seat and the people arrayed in front of him.
"Of course you are welcome on the mission Silvia. I have every confidence that your healing talents may come in useful." Caliborn answered. "And there is no need to apologise. You'll get along just fine here. Trust me. Relax and everything will be okay." She seemed nervous. He'd keep an eye on her. In the case that she needed some positive reinforcement he'd be on hand to provide it. Next to arrive, was Skadi.

"Glad to have you aboard Skadi. There's a first time for everything. After this, you should have a little experience under your belt- Invaluable when it comes to this line of work." He said. And then the next one approached. Eventually, everyone gathered around and so, he introduced them all to their mission.

"3 days ago my good friend, Zarine, contacted me with a job. There's something strange in the house. The Funiture will rattle all by itself, she'll hear knocking on the rooms when she is the only one home. Doors will open and close without any warning. As you can imagine, she's pretty frightened. She has a young daughter named Elayne and her sister Siuan in the house." Caliborn explained. "Seems to us that we've got a curse on our hands, and we're setting out to deal with it. If you're all ready, then we shall set out immediately."

"Looks like you're stuck with me today." The voice of Scarlett interrupted his thoughts. He was in thought after Johanna left. Scarlett showed up, and that was his sphere of thought around his auburn haired love shattered. He looked at her. Different outfit. Dale's was much the same as it was yesterday. Her trousers could do with a bit of fixing though. The tears were there for a reason, he could tell. He knew what she was trying to pull. She wasn't bad looking, but she wasn't Johanna. At least he wasn't that awkward around Scarlett. He didn't feel the usual sense of contempt.
"Rather you than some people around here." Dale said coolly. Yes, she was easy to speak around. That was something. He supposed that made her a friend. Now that was a first. He didn't have many of those. Then another person appeared. Another girl. Purple hair. Enthusiastic seeming. Not bad. He did however appreciate what she said. Sir? Well, she was respectful that was a good start. Such a formal greeting only warranted a formal response. The way she addressed him automatically swung his mind into his leadership mode. To assume command, you had to take it.
"Stand by for briefing then." Dale stated. Of course, his whole act got blown apart when the next person arrived. Beucette was a special case he could already tell. Hon? Who the hell called him hon? But what was even stranger was the weird as hell way she looked at Lucia. He was lost for words. Who the hell was she?
"Erm, right. Sure. Welcome aboard." Not that you're one you actually have the option to say no to. And then someone else showed up. She was nowhere near as overbearing and confusing as Beucette, so it was fine. She was enthusiastic. And obviously very excited. Could her eyes get any wider?
"Welcome aboard." Dale said simply. He wasn't quite sure how to react to this group. Two parts difficult, two parts easy. Lucia and Cal were definitely easier to deal with than the other two. Scarlett was perhaps too casual and may not listen and Beucette... She was herself. She was a special case.

She knelt down in front of the girl in front of her. Something seemed... Wrong. The way she stared blankly and just said "Tap" over and over again at her, as if she was barely there. It seemed wrong. So wrong. Something wasn't right with the child. Maybe she was a special case here? In which case, she'd best head back. All roads led back to the playground so she could take her back to the others.
"Hey, what are you doing out here?" She asked softly. She extended a hand out to the child, as if to offer her a hand up. She smiled at her in a motherly fashion. "And why are you hitting the trees with that stick?"

She awoke in the kitchen and omg it was time to leave well. her hair was a mess.
She made her way to Caliborn and stood by this would be her first time without her locket.

Mizuki nodded at Mikasa. "I will do as you ask," she told her. So she was to pose as Mikasa, and apparently at the request of Evanora. Interesting. Although if anyone were to stand in for Mikasa, Mizuki was probably the best bet. They both kept their emotions in check, they had the same pride, had the same demeanor, and they both - Mizuki suddenly cut off that train of thought. No. They weren't the same. Mizuki was here to kill one of the guild members, someone who Mikasa would have to defend. Mizuki wasn't like her, and she would have to remember that. Even when surrounded by guild members, she was truly alone here.
Then again, even back in Falcon's Claw, she'd always been alone.

"So they just act like loners for a little bit," Ren muttered. That didn't seem too dangerous. "Is that all that happens? There's nothing else you're not telling us? Because if that's all, I don't see why you would have wizards running scared." Actually, that was a good point he'd made. "What exactly is scaring away the people you try to employ, Pastor?"

"You didn't let him finish." She cut in. "All the Children are obsessed with hiding." She explained. "Like, hide and seek."

“It’s basically Hide and Go Seek, but with a Stick, instead of shouting they’ll tap sticks. One hit means they’re not ready yet and more than one hit means they’ve found their hiding place.” She told them. "The kids will hide in and not come out until they've been tagged."



The child started to run away, hiding the trees with sticks as she ran. She continued to hide.




Johanna felt a chill go down her spine. "It's happening again, can't you hear it?" She said. "We better go look for the kid, we don't want them to get lost." She explained. The Pastor and Johanna ran over to the children, along with Hasu. "Calm down kids it's alright." Johanna told them. They didn't seem to feel alright. They knew something was wrong.



The children in the playground weren't really amazed by Ander, but laughed anyway. They all stopped as they heard the stick clanging, looking at each other. "That must be Leon..." They kids looked at each other, frightened. "He's been hiding in the forest all morning." One of them said. "I just hope he's alright!" A boy with glasses pipped up.




Johanna put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Don't worry, he'll be ok." Johanna told them, her voice like a lark. "Everyone split up!" She called. "Hasu, you, Ander and Alessia look behind the church! Amanda and Therity will stay with the kids. I'll go inside and see if I can see someone from up above." She pointed at the windows. "Wait, where's Alessia." Her eyes went wide. She couldn't lose her new Guild Members. It would be totally irresponsible. Plus, She was her roommate, and her friend. That made matters even worse. "I'm sure she'll be ok." Johanna ran up the stairs, a scarf falling out from her pocket and being dragged on the ground with her.

 

Scarlett looked at each member as they approached the table, swinging one of her legs absentmindedly. She hadn't really noticed any of these people yesterday. Good. The less loud and obnoxious people to deal with, the better. She sighed, pushing her seat back to its normal position when she observed one of the members blowing a kiss to some other chick. Umm okay. Cool. It's whatever. But, that was weirdish. She leaned over and nudged Dale with her elbow and made a slight nod of her head towards the member. Plus, her accent was weird. Scarlett hated weird accents. Yet again, she leaned back in her chair, this time pushing her hair out of her eyes. "Okay so, what's the plan?"

 

Carmen sat on a corner of the table staring absentmindedly at the floor, subconsciously listening in on other people's conversations. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Scarlett and Dale conversing. 'Hmm' Carmen thought, 'Scarlett has seemed to hate the guts of everyone that has walked into this guild except for Dale...' . "I wonder..." she mumbled, letting her mind drift.

Ander's pov: He kicked himself for letting Alessia go by her self. He just let it happen. He was going to get it now. "When ever you are lost stay put." He told the children. He thought About looking for the children, but leaving the children with people that are not here did not seem like a good idea. "Alessia went to look at for what that stick noise was." He desided he was going to stay were he was. He hoped Alessia was smart enough to stay put or at least let her presents known.

"Right, ok! I'll go check out around the church," Ren announced to the others. "I'll scream like a four year old if I see anything, ok?" he grinned, setting off towards the church. The kids couldn't have gone that far. Their legs were too short, right? That, and Ren had a theory that young children instinctively gravitated to the areas where they could wreck the most things. The only available place for that around here was the church, so he figured that would be the best place to look.
"Hey, kids!" he called out to the children who were inevitably hiding around somewhere nearby. "Come out, kids! Lets play a game! I've got caaaandyyyyy!" He stopped, realising that he was probably sounding more than a little creepy. Besides, the kids probably wouldn't come out for him anyway.
Ren sighed, looking around for areas where a young child could hide. Well, that wasn't hard, they were so small they could hide practically anywhere. Perhaps even behind that tablet thing. Ren reached out with his staff, tapping the tablet to alert anyone if they were behind it. "Hey, you there kid?"
