In The Times Of Fairy Tails

Back at the guild hall, Ren was in a thoughtful mood. He was thinking about Astedia, the Kingdom, and the monarchs that ruled it. The team had completed the task they had been handed, exceptionally so, to be sure. And yet, Ren wasn't completely happy with how things had ended. The Kingdom, while now safe from an immediate threat, still faced a slow decline due to the faults of it's ruling family. The King and Queen hadn't changed much in their attitude, which was to be expected since there had been zero chance to discuss things with them, even if it had been welcome. There were still some unanswered questions as to how Wenlock, their own family member, had been allowed to run loose in the first place, or how the monarchs hadn't made much of an effort to put an end to his deeds. But perhaps that didn't matter any more, and they could lead the Kingdom to greater prosperity now that Wenlcock was dead.
The greater concern was Annika. She had started out as a frivolous, scatty girl with no concern for her subjects or their cares, instead preferring to spend her days ice skating. And during her time with them, she hadn't particularly grown wiser. This was evidenced by the fact that the last action of significance she had taken when in their company was to try to utterly destroy Wenlock with a tool not meant for that purpose. In a word, the princess could be described as impulsive, and the entire experience had done nothing to curb that.
When Annika finally came to power, the precipitation of the kingdom might soon follow. Ren would have preferred to have stayed to help prevent this danger rather than the threat of Wenlock, of which the former was probably of the most concern. However, they had only been requested and hired to deal with the immediate threat to the kingdom, and they had done so. Grudgingly, and uneasily, Ren decided he would have to settle with that. The Guild couldn't be expected to fix the domestic politics of every small kingdom.

He was roused from his pondering by a young man asking about how the mission had gone. His name was... Jack? Yes, it was Jack. Ren hadn't really spoken to him before, but he seemed friendly enough, and he was a guild mate too. Chatting to him for a bit wouldn't hurt.
“Yeah, it went pretty well actually. Nobody was seriously hurt, and the bad guy basically walked right into our hands,” he grinned. “So yeah, it went pretty well. Not so sure about the future of the kingdom as a whole, but not really our problem I suppose.”
He was about to ask Jack about how is mission had gone, but he was distracted by Thea's sudden outburst in front of Evanora. From the sounds of it, the mission hadn't gone too well, and the child seemed to blame herself. Ren frowned at her, wondering what she meant, and what had happened on that mission. Come to think of it, Jack had been on that mission as well. He was about to ask the other man what exactly had happened during their mission, when another voice caught his attention.

Arriving back from the mission, Mizuki was pissed. As in, very much pissed. More pissed than usual. And the focus of this anger was the Guild Master.
“Evanora,” her voiced boomed demandingly. “Where the fuck were you?” With long strides Mizuki marched up to the Guild Master, a black frown plastered across her face. “Where were you when everyone in the entire fucking mansion were reduced to the size of mice, and had to fight the fuckers? Where were you when the child killed all those fairies, and burned her team mate? When half our team was caught in that trap? And where were you when the Prince was tied to the stake, burning to death?”
Finally stopping a few feet away from Evanora and Thea, Mizuki thrust a finger at her accusingly. “You're supposed to be the leader of this guild. And you left us with a child that you should have known could flip out at any time. Explain yourself!”

 

"Hush child. You have nothing to apologize for." Evanora came down from her throne, and patted Thea's hair. "Why don't you go ask Johanna for a drink of water, it will make you feel better." She then turned to Mizuki, and in the hall, there was an eerie quiet. No one ever dare swear in front of the Guild Master, never mind too her. Even Johanna and Cassandra were surprised.

"Are there any other words you would like to throw around, call me a ***** perhaps?" Her voice was calm, and not challenging. "I am a Guild Master, but make no mistake I am no baby sitter. Listen well, all of you." Evanora called. "Anyone who is in this Guild is my child, but children need to learn on their own. You cannot hold a child's hand, or do everything for them the whole way. Let me ask you this, Mizuki, if I had protected any of the members of the guild, every step of the way, do you think any of them would be where they are today? I am the Leader of this Guild, but I will not be there to hold your hand. I will not be here every time something goes wrong. Johanna is a perfect example of this. I watched over their mission by means of Cassandra, as I do, and she was turned to stone. The group had to manage without her, just like you had to manage without me. As a Guild, you were learn and you will grow. Mistakes will be made, and this is the lesson you will learn from. It is our choices, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

 

Zéphyrine used Blitz. She attacked 5 times, dealing 4 damage (Total 20). With Strength she dealt 31 damage.
Rho used Blitz. He attacked 4 times, dealing 5 damage (Also Total 20). With Strength and Weapon he did 36 damage.
Malkira used Blitz. He attacked 3 times, dealing 3 damage (Total 9). With Strength and Weapon he did 27 damage.
Zephyr used Quick Blitz. He did 1 damage. But with Strength and Speed and Weapon he dealt 15 damage. Wow MoK, good job.
Aoki used Aero on the bookshelves. They collapsed on top of the maid and dealt 16 damage. If you're disappointed, you should be. On a 10-50 roll you managed to get a total scrub score.

Maid 1's Defence stopped 2 damage.
Maid 2's Defence stopped 1 damage.
Maid 3's Defence stopped 4 damage.
Maid 4's Defence stopped 3 damage.
Maid 5's Defence stopped 5 damage.

Maid 1 used Iron on Zéphyrine. She dealt 7 damage, but with Strength and Weapon she dealt 23 damage.
Maid 2 used Polish on Rho. She dealt 6 damage, but with Strength and Speed she dealt 22 damage.
Maid 3 used Iron on Malkira. She dealt 1 damage, but with Strength and Weapon she dealt 8 damage. GG Malkira XD

Mikasa and Caliborn walked down into Hargeon Town, which wasn't quite used to Wizrals. "We need a boat." Mikasa said simply at the Docs. There were a murmur of whispers as Mikasa removed her green hood. On the back of the cape had the Sapphire Eclipse Wizards.

"You won't be finding a damn boat here, not after your Guild stole one!"

"Wizrals!" "Sapphire Eclipse's whore!" "Get moving!" "**** You Wizral!"

Mikasa was ready to take out her blade, but then she remembered Caliborn was here. When looking at him, her cold frozen stare turned into a normal one.

 

“Bullshit,” Mizuki snapped at Evanora, completely disregarding her explanation. “We didn't need you to hold our hand. We were safe. It was the fucking fairies that kid murdered, and the fucking prince that got hurt. Do you understand that? Do you think they now care about how you feel we should grow stronger? Fuck no.”
“When the people hear of this, and the name of this guild is cast into doubt, who do you think they're going to blame?" She aimed a finger at Evanora. "You. You're the Guild Master, the one responsible for running this guild. And when that happens, are you going to explain it away in the same pathetic manner as just now, or will you instead shift the blame onto us, and prove that you aren't a good leader? Take your pick, or give us a new reason to believe in you, because right now you're treading on thin ice.”


Ren had been following the conversation so far closely, and what he heard so far was... troubling. A dead prince, and a group of fairies murdered by the little kid. And Evanora just kind of bullshitting out an excuse. Whatever had happened on that mission was not good, and nobody was happy with it. Well, aside from Jack who didn't seem particularly upset about things, seeing as the first thing he had done was come over to chat.
But enough of him, Ren had other things to think about, like how Evanora was going to deal with the inevitable backlash generated by the terrible outcome of that mission. There was also the matter of the little girl. Thea was her name, right? And a killer from the sounds of it. Ren looked long and hard at her, trying to see whether those tears were real or not. They seemed to be legitimate, and yet, she had stilled killed.
At the very least, she was dangerous.

Before he could introduce himself to Taylor, Lucia had shown up and did that for him. "I'm not all that familiar with the song." Zwei replied, just as Thomas arrived to 'borrow' Lucia. That's right, he did technically have a date with her. Five bucks says he screws it up somehow. Not surprisingly, he had little faith in Thomas. So those two had gone off to the bar. While Zwei had been standing there listening to the song that Taylor was playing, something unexpected had occurred.

Meow~

That cat that he'd had on his person had just woken up and mew'd while still within his jacket. Well hopefully Taylor would be the only one to hear it.

Man RNG hated him, still no where near as bad as how the universe hated Aoki. I mean the maid that he was fighting had somehow managed to hit her with her attack form all the way across the library. Geez that was some godly range. So if RNG would cooperate, he just need to finish his fight as quickly as possible so that he could go help Aoki out.

Zephyr used Quick Blitz on the maid again. Come on RNG, give me something good. I'll find you if you don't. *cracks knuckles*

 

Rho used quick blitz, Aoki used cure. 10/10 quality.

 

"What happened on the Mission, was your responsibility. It was not I who couldn't save the Prince, who knew the risks of asking any Wizard for help. The other Mission went just fine. They were able to save the Kingdom, without Johanna, without even I. You all had with the responsibility of helping those people, and you were the ones entrusted to do it. It is not my place to step in. I do not blame you for what has happened, because I cannot judge the action of anyone but myself. I need not prove myself to anyone. You are new to the Guild, so you are unaware that the members of this Guild have the faith in me that over time you may develop, or you may not. Now if you wish to usurp me, try."

At this point in the conversation, it was clear that Evanora wasn't prepared to taken any responsibility for her guild members. Figured. Right now Mizuki could only looked at her with contempt, both at her total disregard for her duties as Guild Master, and her paranoid fear that Mizuki was actually trying to overthrow her. Fool!
“You frightened little bitch,” Mizuki spat out. “You actually think I'm so egotistical that I believe I'd be capable of taking on both you and your S-class puppets? And that I thought even for a second that I should be Guild Master? Fool! I haven't said one word this whole time about my own abilities, my capacities as a leader. I have been criticizing yours! And if you for one second managed to be a competent leader, you would have listened! But no, instead you would prefer to harp on about how only we should judge ourselves, how that isn't your job. And yet, with every enemy we face, are not we, are not you, casting a judgement upon on them, and condemning them to their fate? Hypocrite!”

Mizuki was enraged now, but not violently so. She had honestly never seen a more incompetent person posing as an authoritative figure before. And the fact that the woman didn't even seem to care about what her new guild members thought of her, instead relying on... what, some future event? to increase their respect for her.
“Fool,” Mizuki finished quietly, this time her tone betraying merely disapproval. She turned away, having given up on arguing with the Guild Master. She walked slowly enough though, in the event that Evanora have anything else to say to her, whether that be a mere verbal attack, or a disciplinary action against her in punishment for the way she had spoken to her. Much as it would hurt her pride, Mizuki wouldn't fight Evanora and her S-class mages, and whoever else decided to join her. She would prefer to live on, rather than die in a mere dispute over incompetency.

 

To the surprise of most, Evanora did not falter nor say anything to Mizuki, nor did she punish her. She did smile a bit when Mizuki called her a *****, as she had said before that maybe that was one of the curse words she needed to get out of her system. She sat down in her Throne, and held herself up with the same grace and poise as she had before.

After watching what had happened with Evanora, Cassandra finally snapped into things. "Anything for a fellow Guild Mate, Sara." Cassandra tried to flash a smile. "Come sit, sit."

 

Guild hall:



Sara's pov:
Mizuki was one strange person. She went to totally fine to an angry nut job. She sure had some issues and needed some mental help. She did not quite understand her. This said the stuff she did say to Evanora was true. She left the guild behind. She abandoned them. She was a trader to the guild. All in all leadership and whatnot. Evanora going back and forth. Then Cassandra cam and told her to take a seat. She took a seat by Cassandra not sure what to say. "She should get some help" looking at Mizuki. Were the stories of her true? Could she really reach into the fabric of time and space? Did she know why she was here? She pulled her bow out and sat it on the table. "Do you know why I am here? What I want?" She was not totally sure she could help her. Never less it did not hurt to ask. "What do you know about weapons?" She hoped that she would be able to tell her something about the bow that now layed on the table.

 

Guild hall:

Jack's pov: He seemed more sad now, after Ren herd what happened. "Ren, I did horrible, I should have stepped up, I tried making friends and having fun." He then whispered to Ren. "I am afraid Mizuki going to hurt someone, so be careful, she threated to kill the prince, so I don't know if she will fallow through one day with a threat and end up killing someone. Don't say anything to Mizuki or the s-ranks or even Evanora they won't do anything. They probably don't see a threat in her." He stopped whispering. "Pour Alessia, she like the prince and now he is dead. The mouse king killed him. I feel Alessia, and Silvia are mad at me. So many things went wrong. If there a funeral I want to go. I'll ask the others that were on the mission later. Do you want to be my friend, because I don't think I made any." He seemed very sad after he said this. "Thea accidently killed some fairies, and we fought a mouse that turned us small. I still need to apologize to Alessia. When the group needed a leader there was none. I was a leader before but I didn't step up for it. I think part of the blame was because I was the only guy there, but that is no excuse. Sorry Ren, I shouldn't bother you with my problems. I'm glad things went well for you."

 

As Gaius' fist connected with Boreal, he felt the blow hit home. It wasn't going to stop there though, he wasn't going to stop until the man was downed. If they failed, everyone else was dead. This wasn't just a battle for their lives, this was a battle for everyone else's, too. Caleb's, Skadi's, and all the rest back at the guild as well as Britney and his mother. Two of them he had no idea where they were, but he'd find them. He'd win the battle there, and he would find them one day. And until that day, he wasn't going to die. "You can summon as many things as ya like, but we ain't going to stop. You're just like Ezekiel was, tryin' to get too much power and letting it all go to your head, and you're going to be beaten to a bloody pulp here and now, just like he will be eventually and just like anyone else will that threatens me or my friends!" Gaius shouted, flying straight towards Boreal and attempting to slam his fist into him once more.

Caleb was annoyed by everything going on. Someone was seeming as though she were challenging the guild leader, something that should never happen in a guild. The guild would tear itself apart and that would be the end of it. However, he did partially agree with Mizuki. Evanora, for all the words she spoke of caring about them, had really done nothing. He hadn't seen her with them, and from the sounds of it she hadn't been with the other group either. She was here too, so she wasn't with Galuna. There was letting people learn on their own, and then there was throwing them into incredibly dangerous situations to sink or swim.

More worrying than this, for Caleb at least, was the fact that Skadi wasn't anywhere in sight. Her group had returned, but she had not. Had something happened to her? He had to know. Walking straight up to Evanora, he knew that directly confronting her would be a bad idea. "Master, I'm glad to see everyone returned safely but I noticed Skadi isn't back. Do you know what happened to her and why she isn't here? It's not like her to be late to...well, anything" he stated. This was the question he dreaded asking, or rather he was scared of what the answer may be. "Is she...alive?" he asked.


Skadi was very much alive. Physically she was fine, save for the scorch marks on her arm from Thea's outburst, but emotionally not so much. She couldn't stop thinking about the mission they'd finished. Fairies had died, as had prince eric, and she had been unable to do anything about it. The girl hadn't said a word to anybody since the fairies had died, she'd merely followed, and she hoped they hadn't noticed her absence in battles. She could still feel the warmth of Thea's flames along her arms, and everytime she had tried to use her magic it had either completely failed or had been difficult for her to control. The truth was she was scared. Skadi was terrified of her own magic, but more than that she was terrified of not being able to use it effectively. If she couldn't use her magic, what reason was there to be in the guild, and how would she be able to help others?

So while the others had been returning to the guild hall, Skadi had slipped away. She wasn't sure how sneaky she had been, for all she knew someone may have seen her, but she had set herself a task. Thea had caused great suffering to her, but the little girl hadn't done so intentionally. Despite everything, Skadi wanted to help her. Thea was scared and probably felt very alone in the guild, she may have even thought everyone hated her. Skadi wanted to show her that even though she had hurt her, even though she had caused her to be a little distant, there was no reason they couldn't still be friends; that she wasn't going to be left out in the dark to suffer without someone there for her.

Skadi had promised to get Thea's dolls, and get them she would. She was aware of the fact that travelling on her own came with dangers, and that if any of the guild members from Ezekiel's guild were still around she may very well be walking into a trap, but a promise was a promise. No matter how hurt she was, no matter how upset it made her, she would keep her promise to her friend. Climbing to the peak of a hill, she could see Ezekiel's castle. It wasn't close, but it wasn't too far. She would go in, get the dolls, and get back. If she could do that, if she could be helpful to just one person, then maybe she would feel better.

And if she failed, nobody would notice her missing anyway.​

 

Taylor shrugged as Zwei told her that he didn't really know the song. "Not many people do. It's not very well known." Laughing, she accepted the flirt's exchange. "Sorry, Lucia, but I'm super down for some food right now. Plus, it sounds as if this is semi-planned, so you probably expected something like this!" She was about to stand to head over to the bar when suddenly a dark haired girl began to yell at Evanora. She didn't know who the chick talking to their guildmaster was, but damn. She had a temper. Taylor grimly watched the serious accusations, and was so wrapped up in it that she almost missed the adorable mewing of a kitten. Taylor's eyes widened as her attention shifted gears. She turned towards the noise in Zwei's jacket and looked up at the man as her lips began to curve upward. "How in hell did you manage to sneak a cat into the guild?" Taylor asked, once again verging on laughter. "That's insane! Are they even allowed? If they are, I'm totally getting one."

Well the cat was quite literally out of the bag, er jacket. "Simple, I just hid it in my jacket and walked through the front door. No idea what the stance on cats are." He answered, right as the cat had poked it head out slightly from his jacket. Judging from how it was turning its head, it was clearly getting a look at its new surroundings.

 

"Holy shit it's so cute!!" Taylor squealed, which was very out of character for her. She was a generally happy person for the most part, but squealing was a new development. "I don't know the stance on pets either." Taylor placed her elbow on her knee, and rested her head against her fist, in sort of a thinking position. "We should hide it. In case they aren't allowed. Because if they aren't, then you'd probably have to give it away or something, and that would be one hundred percent not okay." She watched as the kitten looked around, and made sure it wasn't in anyone else's line of sight. "But where could we keep it?"​

"We could try hiding it in a room?" Zwei suggested. The cat had finished surveying its surrounding and thus went back into Zwei's jacket. Hiding it in a room should work, but the real question was which room should they hide it in. One that would have easy access would be good for them to take care of it would be good.

 

"Well obviously!" Taylor laughed. "No matter where in the guild hall we hide it, it'll be in a room. Unless hiding it outside was an option, but that'd be lame because then the cat could get cold. Hmm..." After thinking for a moment, she spoke again. "Do you know if there's a small, kind of secret room in the tops of the dorm towers? If there is then hiding him in the top of one of them would be a super cool idea. It would have to be hard to get to though and, like, only we would be able to know of its existence. Otherwise people would find it and the cat and that'd be bad. By the way, have you named him yet? Or is it a her?"​

 

Lucia was trying to think of just what the song that Taylor was playing was, but she couldn't really bring it to mind. Well, she didn't really know much about music in general, regardless, so, she felt it only natural that she couldn't figure this one out. As she was about to respond to the girl, Thomas had come over and asked if he could steal her away. Giving a short wave to the two she said, "later Zwei, nice meeting you Taylor." As the duo had started walking towards the bar, there seemed to be some argument between one of their guild members and Evanora. Lucia knew...pretty little about both of them really.

The person yelling she had seen a bit prior to their mission but knew next to nothing about, and Evanora...well other than the fact that she was really strong as proven in the fight with Ezekiel, she didn't really see much of her either. Not to mention she didn't even know what they were arguing about, so she just sort of didn't pay attention to it whatsoever. As the duo had eventually sat down, Lucia started to think on Thomas's offer until saying, "anything with grape in it is fine really." After she had ordered it she then said, "so, that was some mission we were on, huh? Didn't think things could escalate that fast really."
