"You know nothing of me Calxiyn! You're a newcomer to this guild, you barely know me! What does your judgement even mean?" Dale countered. No, not stone. Fire. Fire that you are slowly but surely igniting. "You consider yourself the Dragon of Hell? Then face the Wolf of Sapphire Eclipse!" Dale said that just to challenge her. He had to challenge her claims. He couldn't allow her to consider herself superior. He had to keep putting her off balance even as he rained damage upon her.

"You will never be able to keep that mask Cal! I don't know what magic that is but it is no longer your responsibility!" Dale shouted. How did Evanora not know about this and take it? Did Cal simply not tell her in which case... She lied to the guild master. That's bad. She's carrying an artifact of immense magical power and is hiding it from the leader of the guild that she is in. There is probably a law against that. Even this betrayal aside she's done something terrible from the start. I wonder how much she knows of what she is doing right now. Does that mask overpower he senses or is she clearly aware of what she is doing? I wonder, what did my Half-Brother say to her in that time that we weren't with her. He and I will need to talk. Is this revenge? Is Boreal doing all this so he can avenge father, avenge his mother and the people that died? He can't be, surely? That would be insane, although he doesn't seem all that balanced right now anyway. Regardless of all of that, despite their initial volleys, Cal was still standing. That meant that he had to keep up the damage else they would all surely perish. He knew he was more powerful than them. He could rely on them to keep themselves alive while he dealt with their treacherous guildmate. He raised his staff and called down another Lightning Storm upon her.

As Cal had let loose her attacks and taunts alike, Charlotte had been one of the ones to be better off from the attacks. It seemed that both Ander and Veilen had taken quite the abuse, and so Charlotte realized that there was only one thing to do now. If they were going to overcome this powerful foe, they would need to use the full power of their teamwork against her. Charlotte was wondering how she was this powerful, when as Veilen pointed out, falling off a boat sprained her ankle earlier, but that would be a question to be answered at a later time. Now there was only one thing to be done. "Your unjust power, that which exists solely to harm, will not prevail over our power to protect. You who would rely on thedark moon to fight a demon, prepare to be eclipsed by the light of the sun that is Sapphire Eclipse." With that Charlotte used Barrier Surge and flung herself in the barrier at Cal. When that was over with, she then went to go and make sure that Ra would be shielded by any attacks that came his way by getting ready to intercept them.

 

The first blows had been struck. Calxiyn had hit them hard with her dark magics, but they'd withstood them and dealt a fair bit of damage to her. Veilan seemed to have taken the worst of the beating. He extended his hand toward the man next to him, and loosed a flow of healing magic to wash over him, healing his injuries. "Hold strong, Veilan. We will overcome this demon, just the same as we did against Orpheus." He turned his attention back toward their enemy. "You are correct. Ezekiel was a fool. Yet, knowing this, you follow in his footsteps. Tell me, 'dragon of hell', which of the two seems more foolish?" Looking over the rest of the group, he saw that they were, for the most part, still standing strong. "Dale, Gaius, Veilan, Therity, keep on the offensive! Give her no quarter! Ander, for the moment, you and I will heal the wounded. Should the level of our injuries change, we will switch out our roles. Charlotte, Thank you. As i am protected, i will ensure we do not fall!" Ra called out orders to the party. Anyone with a mind of tactics knew they were what needed to be done. ​

And here comes the pain for the attack that Cal had used to strike Veilen had did quite a bit of damaged. In fact, if not for the preparation taken prior to heading to Galuna, he would probably be the first one down because if it. "Sure, beat the shit out of the guy telling the truth." That mask seriously had to go and ti wasn't because Cal was actually strong and a threat because if it, though that did mess with the natural order. The power, as well as the lack of control over it, had quickly gone to her head. Nothing good comes from when power goes to your head. Despite the damage taken, Veilen was able to remain standing as Ra healed him. "You got it." His blade was held up and the red haired sword mage charged towards Cal and attack with Blitz.

Amanda's pov: There was no way Aidan wasn't gredy. As soon as they left something would happen to him. If anything he said was true way bring it up now. He either lieing or fooling himself to get rich or maybe he wanted to trick Annika. Either way she knew they would find out before the mission ended.

Drosselmayer's Mansion

Jack's pov: As badly as he wanted to kick the mouse kings butt it be stupid to attack alone. "Wait" he then fallowed Alessia and Clara to the door. "Clara do you even know were we should look or do you suggest we split up and look for them. As there is not a lot of us it might not be a good idea to spilt up, but we need to do something. And what about the prin..." he stopped himself not sure he should reviled he knew the nutcracker was the prince. "Um the nutcracker." He knew he wouldn't be able to hide that he knew. "Will the fire hurt him or can it set him free of being wood? I suggest someone saves him as we need the prince or nutcracker, whatever you want to call him. He needs to take back his kingdom and we should help him."

 

Galuna Island:



Ander's pov:
"Yes true power. Something that you forget. You use a mask that gives you something that you did not earn. The power it gives was not meant for you. Power must be gained and earned, not cheated towards. You had to cheat for this power." she was no better then Ezekiel. "Remember what happened to Ezekiel, in his gain to power? You are no better then he was. You are one in the same. The power this mask gives you is a curse. No matter what, a curse comes at a price, the power that the mask gives you in not free. The power that you have is fake. I gained my power, my skills through reading and training for more years then you been alive. I know what true power is and what you have is not power, it is a crunch to help make you feel better. Did it work? Do you feel more powerful, because of this lie?" Evanora would find out. The sad fact about Evanora was as a guild leader she would not let anything happen to her. Cal deserved to trialed for treason, but that was not going to happen. Even if they did do a trial all Evanora would do would give her a slap. She would be just like do not let it happen again. As unfortunate as that was he knew that this was a fact. "I once thought you might be strong, but this mask just shows how weak you are. Take off the mask and show me your real power." He wondered if anything he was saying was getting to her. It was kind of odd what Dale was saying. He was now saying what he had said to Dale himself. The only difference was that Dale, was getting better. He would now be able to read his team mates. The one good thing that came from Cal's treason was that it brought them together. He knew the out come of this battle. "Cal you will not win this fight just as Ezekiel lost his, you will to. It might not because we are stronger, or smarter, but because we have something you don't. Something standing by yourself you can not gain. Something you once had, but now is gone. We have each other. Wile you stand by yourself we stand together, because we are one." He watched what Charlotte did. If this worked as he thought it might then something good might happen. He would wait to see if this would work before saying anything. "Ra I have a plan, but I want to see if it works first."

Conrad Heinrich Adelbrecht von Eisenstein II, Everlue Mansion

As Zephyrine apologised to Vance even more the conversation took an interesting unexpected turn. Conrad caught on to the impression Vance had for maximum chances of succes. And he was actually surprised a little by Vance crawling back like that. "Would you mind if I were to have one after you, clearly just your reprimands and talk haven't helped with this rebelious servant." He said with a slight grin on his face and then softly muttered audibly to Vance and perhaps Zephyrine "I'll help remind you, if we agree to both not go there ever again...." the very same discomfort lurking beneath the surface of his voice. This was the exact opposite of what he was and was certain he felt more uncomfortable than Vance did, he was glad none of his family were here to hear what he just had said and hoped the truth of what had been said here would remain buried forever.

 

Gaius used Blitz, hoping to land as many attacks as Cal had somehow used despite the rule saying no more than 1 massive dps/aoe move per turn. Hopefully RNGesus would guide him to victory.

 

"Of course the fire will hurt him!" Clara snapped, sick of Jack's ignorance. "We need to go together, it's too dangerous. Plus, Beucette is distracting them."

They found themselves walking into a dark hall, filled with doors. All the doors were unguarded, by one had the keys right beside a huge door, which had lanters. “We must have gotten rid of the mice that were supposed to be here.” She said, remembering Beucette's heroic plunge. She took the key in her hand, and opened the door. The room was empty.

"Why would they light up the door outside of the room if it was unguarded?"

Zéphyrine felt sick, and was burning with anger for both. Zéphyrine had never felt so horrified in her life, never mind disgusted. It wasn't long after the thought of escaping crossed her mind, before they were in the dining room of lord Everlue.

"Weeeeeelcome Lords. Please have a seat." He gestured to them. He was awfully casual. "How nice to see you again. Which party was it we were at together? Was it at Lady Aria's? I don't recall. Oh and what interesting staff you have...."

 

"We are never doing that again. In fact, let's forget this ever happened." Vance agreed. Repulsive behaviour. You'd think us barbarians, not people of repute and class. Ugh. This mission. I'm certain there must have been another way around it but at least we seem legitimate. I hope so, otherwise the taste of bile in my mouth would not be worth it. However, it seemed that nothing was amiss and thusly they were admitted to the dining room of Duke Everlue. He recalled all the memories he had of Duke Everlue, cleared his throat and took a seat. He drew himself up into his typical straight-backed, official style of sitting and addressed Duke Everlue, practically looking down on him due to Vance's superior height.
"Yes, it would have been Lady Aria's. A fine night if I may say so myself. I believe we may have crossed paths at Lord Gottwald's event some months ago. A spectacular occasion, the wine, to die for. A man of odd tastes at times, but it cannot be questioned that he knows how to stage an event does he not? Were you there Conrad? These grand parties sometimes bleed together." Vance said smoothly, fitting easily into the rhythm of political small talk and introductions. It was customary. First you slipped into conversation. The first opening moves of the game, before entering the midgame where you began to organise your business. It would be wise to prolong the small talk as long as possible for the sake of Aoki and Zephyr. "And yes, my staff are rather something are they not? They came at a heavy price, but I wouldn't criticise most of them. Save one, but no matter. That one will learn, as they all do." He was forced to comment to try and prolong these early stages of the conversation while he could. He'd rely on Conrad to help.




Alessia looked around the room frantically. Nothing here, there's nothing here! What's going on in this place there has to be something I'm missing just looking at it! Why would this be the case... There has to be something, there has to be something... Alessia's thoughts began to spin around and around as she tried to understand the puzzle of this room. She wasn't always the smartest and couldn't quite understand anything in here. Clara was right, there had to be something to all of this but how could they figure it out? And time was running out for poor Beucette, and Eric too. There had to be something, there had to be something... A secret door maybe? Perhaps a stone in these walls opens something? There has to be something because this room is just too bare! What's the point otherwise? She looked up and down for something, anything. Anything that might construe as a solution, an answer to what was the deal with this room! She began to run around frantically, pressing on stones, rushing from wall to wall trying to find a solution.
"Hello! Is there anyone here!" Alessia shouted, trying to see if there was anything around, anything hidden.

Malkira didn't take a seat, rather he stood behind Vance stoically, pretending to be the ever loyal guardian. When conversation turned to Vance's staff Malkira nodded and bowed to Duke Everlue
"Sir, Vance Dorian has hired me as his bodyguard. You may not have seen me before as I have only recently come into my lord's service" If Malkira had teeth he would be gritting them, playing the servant was not his natural position, heck, he had captured castles to release those in servitude. In Malkira's war camps nobody was a servant, people did things for the good of the army but they weren't forced to, and they were justly rewarded. Also there was none of this servant speak, nobody called him 'my lord' when he was alive. The society and traditions of this land were repressive and unjust. He could just imagine himself riding through the cities, slaying the rich and freeing the poor... but that would never happen. His army was gone. His powers were gone. He certainly couldn't ride a horse. He could make an impression here though, kill the Duke and Vance... but he couldn't, not yet at least, he had to wait until his powers grew. He continued "I do not have a name, sir, I am merely a humble golem", Malkira so wanted to show off his true power before the end of the mission and show the Duke who he really was, perhaps he would have heard of Malkira, if not, he would soon remember it...

 

Drosselmayer's Mansion

Jack's pov: "Of course the fire will hurt. I'm not stupid, he is a person. Although I assume that we need to beat the mouse king to have him turn back to normal. Magic can do almost anything. Also I wouldn't be surprised if these rooms work in a magical way. They could be traps for people trying to bust out or someone trying to get it in. Like the door could magicaly close." He said to Clara. "Alessia if your looking for something try a book shelf or under a rug."

Edit: Stupid irl john forgot the nutcracker got set on fire from Thea. So this is not jacks fult, it mine for, forgetting :'(

 

Conrad Heinrich Adelbrecht Carsten von Eisenstein II, Everlue Mansion

Atleast they agreed on the fact this was so wrong they should forget it ever happened and Conrad was glad about it. It felt sickening to say the least, he tried to forget about it so he could focus on the mission better. When they were allowed into Everlue's dining room he thought to himself that the real test was gonna start now. He took a seat next to Vance, sitting in a business-like manner and like Vance having to look down upon Everlue due to the height difference. "Ah yes Lady Aria's party wasn't that a night to remember... I spent the next few days trying to figure out what had all happened that night... fun times" He said with a smile "Lord Gottwald's? No I was not present I had more important business to attend to, but from what you told me it was quite the party and I would love to have been there as well. But what about the party at the Baron of Lauenberger? Where you and I ran into each other, Vance they had quite the entertainment and while I can't compare to Lord Gottwald's wine some of the best I have ever tasted." He listened attentatively when Vance began about his staff and after Malkira had spoken "Yes, my good friend I must thank you for the tip, while the price is heavy, they are justified in the servant's abilities."

Mizuki frowned at Beaucette and her charge into the enemy. It was really frustrating having to deal with this group of dolts. Needless to say, when Clara set off into the castle, and Mizuki was left to choose between her and the 'hero' charging a fucking army, Mizuki chose to follow Clara. She probably had as little idea about what she was doing as Beaucette, but at least she didn't have a readily apparent death wish.

When they got to the seemingly empty room, that for some reason Clara thought was incredibly important despite there being absolutely no indication that it actually was other than the entrance being lit, Mizuki was cautious. She didn't get too near the door, and instead scanned the room from the hallway. It was indeed, as far as she could see, empty.
So that left them with a few options. One, this was just a fucking empty room and they were wasting valuable time here. Two, it could be a trap, à la cardboard castle, and catch them all as soon as they entered. Or three, it could be some sort of trans-dimensional, or simply just magic, room that contained both what they were looking for, and nothing at all.
She remained outside, glancing up and down the hall every now and then to look out for enemies, and observing the room from outside. She still didn't trust that ****ing room.

Ren reacted to Aiden's story with a grimace. Things had been tough for the guy it seemed, and Ren couldn't help but feel sorry for him despite it all being of his own doing. However, they couldn't really let Aiden take a second gem like this. Sure, he was planning to use it to restore to his parents what was rightfully theirs, but it was because of greed that he needed to do so in the first place. Greed had led him to gambling away what wasn't even his. And it was a certain sort of greed, albeit a perfectly natural one, that urged Aiden to try to regain his parents affection.
Whether the warning over the gems applied to greed such as these was hard to know. It would most likely not, the magic over them would probably detect only the most blatant and crudest forms of the emotion. However, there was the possibility that, because this was such a valuable treasure, that the magic was much, much more sensitive. Ren for one wasn't prepared to take that chance. So he would make Aiden an offer.

Stepping forward to make eye contact with the other man, Ren smiled and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “Aiden, I know where you're coming from. I really do,” Ren nodded. “You made a mistake at one point in your life, and now you want to make it up to your family. We've all been there, to some extent or another. But I think there's a better way to go about this,” he continued, becoming more serious. “If you take that gem, there's a huge risk that we'll all end up dead. We'll never get to finish our mission, Annika will leave the kingdom without an heir, all those people turned to stone back at the capital will die in a few short days, and your parents, the ones you would risk this for, will be left without their property and their son.”
He waited a moment to let this last bit sink in. “I don't know about you, but I think they'd rather have the little boy they raised alive and well than a palace filled with gold. So don't take this gem, not for money, it's not worth it. Besides, we can help you if you need some cash,” Ren offered. “The king will be rewarding us for saving his and the kingdoms collective ass, and I'm sure Annika will put in a good word for you as well. And if that isn't enough, well, this Staff of Light... you can have it when we're done. It should fetch a good price.
“I mean, I know I told Ferris we'd give it to him as payment,” he continued to explain, “but really, we all know that isn't going to happen. That greedy little man couldn't be trusted with something like this. You, Aiden, on the other hand... you I think we can trust.”
Ren held out a hand to Aiden. “Sound good?”

 

Scarlett was getting annoyed with this Aidan guy again. Here they were, doing just fine and dandy, until suddenly that moron was prepared to risk everyone's lives over a stupid fight with his parents. Nuh uh. Not okay. "Look, we didn't come all this way just so you can go all saint-like and try to make up with your parents. Get over yourself. You made a stupid mistake now you have to live with it. Welcome to the real world. Now put that jewel back before you get all of us killed for no good reason." She took a threatening step toward him. Well, actually it looked like she was intentionally stepping toward him to try and intimidate him. Scarlett actually just took a step in that direction because it was closer to the exit of the cave. She didn't think Aidan would listen to her so she wanted to be able to make a quick getaway in case of an emergency.

 

Wow, those were some terrible rolls. Therity's role play owner was kind of shocked to see that her character had done so little damage, even though it wasn't that bad of a hit lol. Unfortulately, Therity's owner just finished eight hours worth of homework because she was crazy and had mentally derranged teachers. She was exhausted and it was taking all she had to write with semi-correct grammar and spelling on this post but she promised Alex that she'd post soooooo

Therity used Blitz again. She was staying on the offensive. You're welcome, Ra. ​

 

As Alessia searched around the walls in her panic, ignoring Jack's 'helpful' suggestions, her mind raced and spun in the whirl of movement. This room is too weird, there has to be something to it, there has to be!
"Do you see a rug or bookshelf you idiot? If you're just going to stand there, then help! Beucette is going to burn soon!" Alessia shrieked. She continued her frantic search for something, anything to give a hint. She felt something. One area of the wall was hot. Her panic stricken mind told her this could only be one person- Thea! She must be throwing some kind of fire we are in the right place! Excited by her discovery, she moved faster and faster along the wall until she felt something else odd. Something smooth, and cool. Glass? There was only one thing to do at this point: Smash it. Without saying a word to anyone else, Alessia drew her sword and slammed the pommel into the smooth glassy area she found. Suddenly, cracks ran across the entire stone wall, the illusion of stone breaking as spiderwebs of cracks spread along the surface before shattering in a loud crack and tinkling as the breaking glass rained down upon the real stone floor. She blinked in surprise as the wall collapsed, revealing all of their friends. "Oh thank God, you're all okay. We were worried."




"I'm sure they'll find us soon." Major Mint replied, trying to give Silva an encouraging smile.

Clara watched as Alessia broke the glass wall with Blitz. She looked inside, where the Captain, Major, Thea, Silva, and Sara were all sitting around.
"You guys are alright!?" Clara exclaimed, running to hug Thea. "Wait, where's the Nutcracker? Did he escape?"




Aidan sneered at Scarlett, but did listen to Hasu. He didn't see it as selfish himself, but the safety of everyone could be at risk. He looked at Annika.
"He's right Aidan, we will pay you. We can help you set things right with your parents. You've worked for it, you've earned it. That should mean even more then any old gem." Annika tried to smile. He tossed the gem back onto the pile.
"Thank you, Annika, Hasu." He gave a small nod. "I won't be taking the wand though, it isn't mine to take. Now why don't we get out of here and make a wand?" Aidan gave a small smile.




Zéphyrine stood with mouth open. What the hell was Vance playing at?! Zéphyrine didn't understand royalty, or nobility. Did they gossip about people right in front of them? Or just the servants?

"Problematic you say?" Everlue laughed. "I've never had a problem like that with one of my beautiful maids." As if called by their mention, his ugly maids appeared around him.
"You're so good to us lord Everlue!" They shouted.
"Ladies please, now now."

 

Drosselmayer's Mansion

Jack's pov: Because of plot things happen and everyone is saved, nothing the rper could do about the plot that makes jack look stupid. "We should go save the nutcracker next". With nothing else to do he waited for them to leave.

Amanda's pov: "How do suggest we do that? I don't think either of you know how to put a wand together. Does it magicaly put it's self together?"
