Conrad got annoyed with Shani about her remark regarding maggots, getting it all together and most importantly calling it fooling around. He nearly blurted something out regarding Cacti and leaving him alone but he could just save it. He boarded the vessel and found himself a quiet spot and soon drifted off to sleep, his dreams weren't all that pleasant and he half expected to see Vance when he opened his eyes again. Lucky for him he didn't, not so lucky for him his head felt like it was being hammered on constantly, he made sure to drink lots of water that day and just keep out of the way. For the remainder of the journey he stuck to himself. When they finally reached land again and no one luckily died from scurvy he was among the first to disembark. While he didn't mind being on a ship, he liked rock beneath his feet just a bit better, his entire family was like that. When Vance was going to say something and then sighed running after Thea, Conrad figured in an unknown land they would be better prepared if they stuck together and he too followed.

Shani smiled at Thea, though behind Thea's back she glared at Vance. They haven't talked for the whole trip. The others came to the same building Thea had found.

    Zephyros
looked at the building in front of the group. All that was left of it was a square outline of bricks. Inside of the large square outline was a smaller square outline, which seemed to be more intact as a shabby, old brick box. On the corners and in the middle of the bigger square outline, there seemed to be circular outlines they were built ontop of the bricks. The ground was of brick and was still on the ground inside of the 'building.'

"These circles are short, but they're starting of towers." Florica told the group as she inspected it.

"This is interesting. I don't think it would have had a roof, or else it would be all over the place when this thing collapsed, so it must have happened at the sides. The materials here are expensive." Shani
    crossed her arms.

Mission Information: Anything that is underlined in speaking or description is a clue. You can have your character look at it and try attempt to figure out what significance it has. This could be harder or easier depending on what building you have first/last. You can look more in depth at the clues presented. To recap, this is what we know:

    1. This is a large building with a smaller building inside it.
    2. The outside skeleton of the building is almost all destroyed except for the ones on the ground
    3. The circular shape that was on top of the bricks of the bigger outline seemed to be almost like the beginnings of towers.

    4. The floor of the building's inside is in tact.
    5. Shani says it doesn't look like this thing would have had a roof and the materials are expensive.

Questions to ask yourself as your character:
Based on the evidence, what could have this building been? Why?
Based on what your character has seen in the past, what could have this building been?

Lastly, if your character has an idea of what this building could be, make sure to mention it but let other characters look at the evidence pieces and add to it. Say the building is a barn, and I say "This has to be a barn" then your characters will say "Well, now that you mention it, based on what building materials they used (Which is a piece of evidence), it would make sense considering XXXX"

I will say if the evidence has been fully "completed" or if there's anything else you could say about the evidence. This may be easier for some characters then others depending on different backgrounds as well as magic. Either way, all of the evidence is important in other to get the maximum amount of points.

    The Island Expedition:
The few weeks on the ship were mostly uninteresting. He was by himself for the most part considering there were very few guys on the boat. At some point they reached land. Antonio then said, 'The thrill of something new, Johanna! You must have this feeling all the time as wizards' "Not particularly, I have traveled most of my life and have gotten use to it over the years." That was when Antonio suggested go in groups of three since there's three of us older people. He said nothing as he walked onto the beach. He looked around and did not know what to do for a moment. "How about we go together to a mountain or somewhere, we can see farther then we can now to get a larger look of the land and if there is anything of interest we can split of from there or stick together." He suggested

Aoki hadn't been at sea since she had been many years younger. The smell of the ocean in the air, the sea breeze flowing through her hair, and the boundless view of the water stretching infinitely and endlessly, she felt a familiar sense of awe. She had always dreamed of going on an adventure like this, and now that she was here, it seemed a bit surreal. Furthermore, as she closed her eyes to take in everything, she had felt somewhat connected to the sea. Her destined path seemed to give her some sort of innate bond with the water, and as she opened her eyes, she saw that there was land on the horizon. The zoologist seemed to be absolutely ecstatic about the whole prospect of discovery on this new and uncharted island, and Aoki couldn't exactly blame him. There was a huge sense of adventure welling up inside of her as well, as the idea of this expedition seemed to get more and more enjoyable as the island came into view.

As the group landed on the shore, she felt the sand underneath her feet, and was all set to get going. When the group leaders had said that there was exploring to be done, and that they should get going in groups. As such, Aoki decided to start to get a move on, just sort of taking a cursory glance across the shore, before deciding on which direction to get going in. Ander soon spoke up about which place he wanted to check out, as she said,
"alright. I'm going to go check out the peninsula over there. It seems to be the biggest area of beach land on the island, so we're probably most likely to find something washed up from the sea or something like that over there." Turning to the rest of the group she asked, "anyone want to come with?"

For clarity sake, I'm talking about the bottom right circle on the map.

Thea stepped around the building looking at everything that had happened and listening to what the others were discussing. She looked perplexed as she examined the circular shaped building part and listened to what Shani said about it not having a roof. "Do you think it hasn't been finished being built? Or what had been built has been wrecked by something, a storm or something?" Thea questioned. It seemed like it was half way to being a building but not finished. On top of that to the young girl it looked like it was starting to fall apart but not from old age. "It is a shame it looks like it would have been such a nice place too." Thea said with a small bit of pout in her voice. She reached up and touched the part of the building that could have been a tower of some kind. "How wealthy do you think the people making this were?" Thea wondered.

Clara's words of kindness didn't help much with the guilt that Silvia faced from the loss of the nutcracker. However Lucia's pep talk helped a little with Silvia stepping forward to be ready to go. She couldn't help the nutcracker but there was other people in need. She couldn't just abandon them either because she was upset. Even if she couldn't do much to help chances are they wouldn't be any better off from her not going. So perhaps going was for the best. Silvia nodded at Lucia. "I am ready to go help them as soon as everyone else it."

Vance felt Shani's eyes burning into his back. He wanted to speak to her, but this was hardly the time or place to resolve their conflict. Instead, he returned her stare by making eye contact and giving her a cool nod, as if to say "We'll talk another time". When they arrived at the structure, it felt instantly familiar. He had seen places like this before alright. Some noblemen preferred estates, like his family, however he knew that certain others preferred the more traditional castle to make their home in. He couldn't fault them. It was an excellent defensive structure and it certainly had an effect on the people. Most castles would have walls, which in his mind fit in with the four sides that he could see. Also, the round bases looked very much like towers to him. There was a large central building and to his judgement, this seemed to be the keep of the castle.
"It looks to be a castle. Our central building here is the keep and those circular parts, likely towers. Conrad, did you ever meet the Blackflames? They lived in a castle not dissimilar though as I remember, they went for a four tower arrangement as opposed to the six that appear to be here." Vance judged. Thea spoke, and asked a few questions. He thought for a moment as to how best to answer. "Generally, it would depend on what the castle is built for Thea. They were good military fortifications and were adopted by nobles like ourselves to live in because they're impressive. Judging by the brickwork, it's hard to say. I would suggest perhaps, that it is a nobleman's castle. I don't think a military would have put so much time into the aesthetics. The same goes for the material actually. Looking at it now... I believe that Mother and Father considered a material similar to this to add on to the estate but settled for something else instead." Actually... A thought sprung to mind. He wielded Arc of Time. Why didn't he just use that?
"Wait - Allow me to try something. I would like to test out Arc of Time." Vance approached the central building and began to look at the interior. A handful of walls stood, but perhaps that would be enough to tell more? He placed his hand on the nearest wall and channelled his magic into it to try and restore this part of the wall. Perhaps if some tapestry or decoration was revealed, that would shine some light on the truth of the building.

"Hm... I didn't think about that. You're right." Shani replied to the young girl. She glared as Vance spoke about other nobles.

Shani couldn't help but look at Vance in awe as he restored one of the walls of the building. She had no idea he could do that. Zephyros didn't say anything about it. When Vance restored the wall, the group saw a tactical map. It showed to be what looked like the area that the group was stationed in. Zephyros looked at it curiously.

"Castle's don't usually have a map like this on the inside of them do they? From where we're standing this isn't the building but the outside walls are surrounding a smaller one." Zephyros asked.

"This map looks like it was used for battle." Florica said. "And now the walls are very thick. We know there's more then one layer. There's 5 layers. If only I could try and imagine this now with 5 more layers of wall protecting us from the inside."

Beucette stumbled off the boat. She felt like she was about to puke. Dragon slayer magic apparently came with its down side. "I'm still pissed we didn't get to kill any sea creatures, but god damn I'm glad we're off that boat." She sighed, then looked around the island. Just then, a vision flashed before her eyes. She...No...It's not possible. There was no way it could be happening again...It had nearly killed her the last time it happened. Yet, her fortune telling didn't lie. There it was...A giant blue splotch from Microsoft paint in the middle of the vision aside, she could see the area around it.

She heard Ander talk about going to the mountain, the location of her vision. "NO!" She blurted out. "No. Ander buddy I know we've had our differences, but i wouldn't wish that on anyone. Just, whatever you do, promise me you'll stay away from the mountains, okay? All of you. There's something horrible in the mountains. Something you don't want to face. We should be alright if we stay away from it. I don't think it'll spread to the rest of the Island. Fortune telling...It's a curse. There are some things you just...You don't want to know. You know? Anyway, just...Don't go near the mountains."

The horror played again, over and over in her mind. She could scarcely believe it, but it was undeniable. The way everything looked...That...round, plastic feel.

They were on another fucking Barbie mission.

Ezekiel gave a worried look to the white haired girl, warning them of the mountains. That was certainly ominous. He turned to Aoki, offering to go to the southern peninsula. "Well, i suppose you chose a good place, then. I'll accompany you there." He gave another look at the mountain. Perhaps he'd ask Johanna to remove his limiter and he'd explore there. It may be a good lesson for the girl. He leaned in and whispered to her. "After we've searched the area, what do you say the two of us explore this horror in the mountains? It may be a good lesson. I'll be there in case anything goes wrong, so you don't have to worry about danger. It would be a good opportunity to get a feel for your magic."

Vance blinked in surprise as the wall was restored, not entirely sure what to expect himself. Looking at what he had done, he could only smile. This was power. To be able to affect the flow of time like this... Remarkable. It had however, shown that he had judged this completely wrong. On the wall was a tactical map, used in the creation of a military strategy. This was not his area of expertise per say, however he could reasonably guess that this was certainly a military installation at the very least. He had seen things of this kind in the history books that he had looked into as a child.
"Colour me impressed, this is a very nice emplacement. I didn't think that the army put so much importance on looking good." Vance commented. He examined the tactical map in a little more detail. "Sadly I didn't study military history enough as a child it seems. I can't be sure as to what this is exactly, but judging by the five layers of wall this is a stronghold of some sort. Are any of you more knowledgeable in these matters?"

"I'll go with you Aoki." Alessia said, raising her hand. She walked over to the other woman. That would mean being near Ezekiel, however he was here with Evanora's permission and he was here to help. Honestly, she was a little worried about the new magic that had managed to summon a man like Ezekiel here, so she wanted to be there for Aoki if something went wrong. She'd need a friendly face from her own guild if things went wrong and she was a good protector. As she approached, she could see the man whispering something in Aoki's ear. She couldn't make out what he was saying. Hopefully he wasn't trying to lead her guild mate astray. If so, she'd try and stop him. She wouldn't let him cost Sapphire Eclipse another member, even though she didn't know Leviathan that well when he died. "Between the three of us we shouldn't have much trouble with anything."

Johanna listened to everyone's suggestions. She agreed that going on the mountain would be a good idea, but when Beucette spoke of her vision, Johanna wished that Cassandra had been here instead of her. Instead, the group went to go check out the peninsula.

"We shall follow you then!" Antonio told Aoki, Ezekiel, Beucette and the others. The rest of the group headed to this area. Looking around, Johanna saw what looked to be somewhere where someone had recently been eating. There was a fire pit of some sort, as well as two spears.

"Hmmm. This is interesting." She picked up one the spears. "There are two here, but that's not enough for a whole village."

"It seems that these are the remains of a Papua." Antonio said, picking up a 'core'.

"So the spears aren't for the fish?"

"There are no fish remains, so I'm assuming no." Frazer added.

"This must mean that whatever made the spears doesn't eat meat, at least not for this meal. But we're so close to the ocean it seems unlikely they would travel so far to it just to eat fruit that seems to be all over the island."

"I mean, couldn't this have just been a couple kids in the village eating on the outskirts?" Johanna questioned. Antonio pondered this.

"Natives usually will eat together, and they wouldn't stray from the village with all the monsters on the island." Antonio seemed to speak from some kind of experience. "Look here, it seems like there's some kind of game." Antonio picked up a 'ball', and saw there was a line in the sand. There were footprints but most of them were dragged out. What was clear was a birdlike footprint in the sand on the court.

"We should look around here some more."

Conrad walked along with the others and they found a set of ruins. He looked at the ruins and the position of them. He listened closely to what was said, not that it wasn't anything he didn't notice himself. Then Vance somehow managed to get the wall back into a more original state, since when was he able to do that? He must have learned that while Conrad was out or something. He paced around for a little bit. "
As for the Blackflames, heard of them, father mentioned them a few times, can't say I have met them... and while your guess of a Castle is a rather good one, it's not entirely right." Conrad said, he watched closely as Vance seemed to come to the same conclusion he had already reached. And just after Vance said he didn't know much Conrad chimed in "It is indeed a stronghold. It may have been part of a larger network of fortifications, given the location of this one, I'd say it was used to defend this pass. And Vance aesthetics of a fortress can make it look more formidable or threatening than it actually is. Sure it costs quite a bit of coin, but solid defenses are more than worth it." Conrad said pointing at things as he explained all the knowledge that had become relatively useless to him. "Given the state of this place, this has been the scene of some harsh fighting, taking strongholds is always rather.....messy..." His mind drifted to some historical accounts he read but quickly snapped out of it. "They tried to defend the stronghold and then send a portion of their soldiers through the pass to swing around.... risky tactic....but if executed properly it could have helped in breaking the siege allowing for a more organised retreat..." He muttered mainly just thinking out loud.

After Beucette's little freak out, it appeared that the beach was where the group was going. She didn't entirely like the idea of sneaking away to a place of apparent danger, but there was something intimidating about the blond haired man that just made her awkwardly nod and say, "sure." As the group had walked over to the beach, it had become increasingly apparent that they were not the first people to be here on this beach. Seeing clear signs of civilized people, as they could, at the very least make fire and wield spears, she got to thinking about all of the things that they had found on the shore. Looking around at the fire pit, she then turned to Zephyr and said, "hey Zephyr, you've got some kind of fire magic right? Would you be able to tell if this fire was made with magic or not?" She figured it'd be good to know whether or not the residence of this place were wielders of magic like themselves, which wasn't inherently important, but it'd be nice to know.

Then looking at the tracks, they definitely seemed to be bird like. While some kinds of bird tracks were apparent, which kind they were was probably important as well. Thinking about it, she remembered that the zoologist had said something about peacocks being on this island, and figured that they were probably that bird. Turning to the man she said,
"you're a zoologist, and Johanna you've got some connections with animals. Do peacocks normally hang around on the beach." Discerning natural patterns was probably something that was important to investigating a scene...probably.

She had zero idea what to make of the food, thinking it might just be what they ate and just hung around here while they did it. Thinking more on it, she then figured something else was weird with the scene.
"I don't think it's really weird that people might be eating here, and that they didn't use the spears for fish. But that they just kind of left the spears." She then motioned to the forest saying, "I mean, they probably went back in there, and considering the wildlife here is probably some kind of dangerous, it seems weird that they would just up and leave their spears here. Even if it's not much, some kind of protection is better than none."

"Peafowls like tropical forests, such as this one, but it prefers dry forests where it can find it's food: snakes, lizards, frogs, worms, insects etc." Antonio replied.

"So in that case, it wouldn't stay by the beach where there isn't any food. They would go into the forest where's there dirt and bugs rather then the sandy beaches." Johanna added. "You're right. Leaving the spears here wouldn't make any sense, unless they're not afraid of the monsters Antonio's crew found here."

"Maybe the people on the island are CONTROLLING the monsters." Frazer muttered.

"Don't make assumptions like that, we don't want to misunderstand what's going on here." Antonio warned. "Plus, the monsters seemed to be invasive, remember?"

"If the fire was done with magic, we'll figure out whether the population here is magical or not. Really, learning fire spells aren't too hard. I agree with Antonio about making assumptions, but if the fire was done by magic I can't help but wonder if the people here may be the source of the monsters after all." Johanna pondered this before looking back at the tracks. "This was one heck of a volleyball game."

Vance listened intently as Conrad put the story together. He nodded along, and a vivid image of events began to build up in his mind as Conrad hypothesised. It made sense really, and he gained a new appreciation for having a wider sphere of knowledge. Had he paid more attention, perhaps this would have become more apparent to him. He was glad that Conrad was here and was with his senses. Had he not been, then they would have stayed on their mistaken track for longer and may not have realised it at all which would have been terribly embarrassing. Another thing to the white haired man's credit was that he didn't sound patronising. In fact, he sounded rather more like a teacher when explaining things.
"I had no idea you were a military scholar Conrad." Vance commented. Thinking more on what he had said, something sprung to mind and he clicked his fingers. "If we assume that you are correct that this was a fortification, and that they could have tried to break this siege to allow people to leave... Where did they go? After all, if people were hiding out here then they must have had somewhere to go. Some plan in mind?"

It was at this very moment that she realised that she was utterly useless here. She had never seen anything like this place, nor seen the animals that they were talking about. She knew nothing about tribal-ish lifestyles thought she had heard about them in stories. In short, she had come to the wrong place. She should have really gone with Clara and helped her. Instead, something possessed her to come here. Maybe it was the idea that she would see something different. And well, this was different. But still... She should have gone with Clara really. She sighed as she looked around, trying to think of something helpful that she could do or say.
"Maybe they left their spears behind in a panic? Maybe they couldn't get to them? I mean, there are these big marks here. Maybe they were playing and then ran for it from whatever it was? If they did, then there should be marks in the forest somewhere if it's that big." Alessia suggested, attempting to be helpful.

    The Island Expedition:
Aoki spoke up about going go check out the peninsula. It made sense that she would want to go there being that she picked water as one of her choices. She then went on about finding something washed up from the sea. He did not see how something from the sea could give more information then over looking the land. That was Beucette told him not to got to the mountains. Beucette then said, 'Ander buddy I know we've had our differences, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Just, whatever you do, promise me you'll stay away from the mountains, okay? All of you. There's something horrible in the mountains.' "A dragon slayer is afraid of something on a mountain? That is something new, but what do I know? It must be something big for you to say that." That was when she said something about something to spread to the rest of the Island. "What will spread? You are not making any sense." He then saw Ezekiel talking to Aoki, he was up to something, what he could not say. That was when everyone went to the peninsula and he had no choice, but to follow. He reached the beach and look at what the others found. There were two spears, and a fire pit. Who ever was here did it eat meat, but had weapons. He then looked to Aoki, when she said about magic, and the birds. "The spears maybe were used for protection, There are monsters and wildlife here so the use of them is not surprising, but leaving the on the beach is odd. Something must have been here, but the only foot prints on beach are the peacock footprints." He then looked at the sand to see if the water had did anything to the footprints. That was when Frazer said that 'Maybe the people on the island are CONTROLLING the monsters.' "It would have to be someone with powerful magic to do such a thing." The fire of course. "Fire is sometimes used to scare off things Monsters or animals."

Ezekiel knelt down to look at the tracks on the ground. "I agree that the spears were likely used for defense, if not for hunting. And these larger tracks would support that."

"But look around at the tracks. There's somethin' missing, ain't there? Other than ours, there ain't no human tracks."
"That's correct. And outside of the ones right here, there aren't any tracks of the birds either. Only the large lines leading away. There's no sign of any remains or meat, so I doubt this monster of ours made a meal of the birds. If something large came through here, it's possible it took whatever was at this camp with it." Hm. This was getting interesting. Whether it was by force, or for a means of travel was impossible to say. That man just might have been onto something about them controlling the monster. At the very least, they couldn't rule out the possibility.
At that point, Beucette chimed in. "Hey, if we're wonderin' whether they could use magic or not, didn't someone say on the boat that no one had ever seen this Island, and that there might've been some kind of curse causin' it? If there's someone on this Island who could pull that off, it's not too far out of question they could control a monster."

"So then, what does this all mean as to what happened?"

Conrad snorted at the comment of him being a military scholar. "
I nearly got to put the theory into practice as well, just a bloody shame I didn't pass one test." He said, he then thought about what Vance said. "Okay, if what I say is true about them trying to break the siege by going through that pass, it means the forces came from that way. The most logical option for retreat would be in the exact opposite direction, I assume this would have been a forward position of a defensive line and if the attackers came from there, then retreat would be in that direction. And while they could have just fallen back through the pass giving up their position I suspect their officer had orders to fight, furthermore getting groups of soldiers out is going to get noticed and it'll turn into a massacre. If my assumptions are correct, then we should investigate in that direction..." He again pointed to things as he spoke, in the end pointing eastwards through the pass. "It alll however does rely on my assumptions being right... Alternatively we could investigate the immedite area to see if there are traces left of the invader..."

"That implies that there was a battle." Shani replied to Conrad.

"You think something else happened here?" Florica asked.

"I think that if there was a battle here, then it would have been cleaned up by now." Zephyros agreed. "Plus, wouldn't there be dead bodies, or at least bones? If someone was here to clean them up this place would still be active, no? At least, if someone was here to clean this place up there would be a sign or something, "Do not enter". This means that this place hasn't been visited. There isn't even any Graffiti. I think that considering this place hasn't been defaced by a group of young teenagers that it means there wasn't a battle, but a natural disaster that caused a battle before it happened." Zephyros added in what Shani thought as well.

"So here's what we got: There's a Stronghold here, and something destroyed it. Some of us think it was a battle, some think a disaster. Whatever the case, it had to have happened a long time ago because there are no bodies, or something sucked them up, like a tornado or another disaster. That's why we believe it wasn't a battle, because even if the people never came back here after the battle there would be bones." Shani continued. "Whatever the case we need to go look around some more to figure out if it was a battle or what, and with that information maybe we can figure out what happened to whoever was living around here, if anyone."

"I just want to find the treasure."

"Well, maybe the people from El Dorado murdered these people and went somewhere. We still need the whole story either way." Florica told the impatient Zephyros.

"Where to next, Captain Thea?" Shani gave an enduring smile to the girl as she asked the question.

Thea had gotten lost on what all the adults were talking about. She didn't quite understand everything that happened there, nor did she really care. Instead Thea found herself wandering around the remnants of the fortress up until she heard her name called. "Hmmm... lets see." Thea began thinking about where they should go next. "Captain Thea says that we should head That way!" Thea said as she headed to the right and down. The young girl ran and skipped through the grass until she came to another structure a bit away from the last one. Thea decided to stop, not for her own interest but because of how much thought that the others put in the last part, Thea thought they might be interested in it.

"I'm not sure we are finished here, however I believe that in sieges, one must set up a camp correct?" Vance began. He pointed at an area just above their present position in what looked to be a lightly wooded area. "This could be where they set up. They would need wood for siege engines and such. That to me looks to be a place where an invading force could find such a thing." It seemed that this mission would indeed be changing his perspectives on people. At the start, he had discovered a secret about the man that he wished to keep guarded, which made him feel some sympathy and made him realise that perhaps, he needn't be so hard on the man. Now he was finding that he was a man well versed in military strategy, an area of knowledge where he found himself quite lacking. Naturally, he was completely overridden by Zephyros, Florica and Shani. He sighed. They may be right, perhaps there was no battle. But what happened? This was a sturdy location so what could have happened to cause these people to flee and destroy such a well built structure? In any case, it looked like they weren't going to be able to find anything else, not without exhausting himself using Arc of Time.
"If I may suggest, Thea, may we look at the forest above this strongh- Never mind!" Vance grumbled as he ran to catch up with his incredibly energetic daughter.

"Maybe we need to look around not just on the beach? I mean, there might be more things to find elsewhere." Alessia said, feeling particularly useless. She looked at the scraps of food, the cores of the strange fruit that they were eating. "Hey, does this fruit grow near the beach? If not, then it must have been brought with them from further in. That means that they must have come from further in. If that helps at all. I guess it was kind of obvious that they came from further in." They were all coming up with great ideas about how everything tied together, but she was missing something. Like, completely missing something. She really, really regretted choosing this mission.
