If I had a choice, I would think.

If I said yes, then I will live in more pain, more suffering, sadness, and etc. An example would be seeing too many of my friends dying and I watch them die without any way to save them. But I can live as long as I want with no fear of death and see how the future will turn out and be happy with it. ^^ *purrs*

If I say no, then I'm okay with it. ^^ I don't want to end up like the soldiers in the front lines in WWII or WWI who had changed after knowing how it feels to lose a close friend in a battle and then turn more aggressive to innocent people.

Ah, I'm out of time. I'll explain more later this week.

    Lol that's what i thought..

I hardly want anything more than lots and lots of time, it'd mean less pressure, and I could take however long I want to get really good at something. If I could just choose how long til i die now, I'd say 100 000 years, but immortality's too risky since everything else could end or I could want to die one millenium...

Or that you'd still be whole when that decay sets in.

Living more would be fun, 'cause there's more time to see the world, all the cool places, but living forever will just be boring after a while, there will not be anything else to do and to see, also, you'll see every friend of yours die, while you'll live forever, it doesn't look that good.

No. Who wants to live in this world forever? It'd be a drag. A miserable depressing drag.

Come on guys, no Highlander references?

Anyway, I'd never want to be immortal. Everyone dear to me would slowly die before my eyes, and judging by how much fun losing one person close to you is, everyone would be torture. Not to mention the fact that you'd never get a break. Life would just start to wear down on someone to the point where they be begging for a way to die.

If I had to be immortal, I think I'd want to keep running through lifetime after lifetime. That way I could age with people and experience things at different points in my life.

If I were immortal, I'd have to witness the end of the world. And hearing more news about Sarah Boyle (okay, I know this is supposed to be serious, but c'mon! :P).
So, no. And, I'd have to go through losing each of my family members and friends, one by one.

Live Forever? So long as the world keeps spinning and we all keep changing, then it'd be interesting.
Live Longer? Of course. A humans time on earth is often too short for what they want to acheive. This'd be prefered.

Well I wouldn't really do it, I mean to see everyone die would hurt, but as long as there was someone who I could trust and loved.. then I think I could survive. I mean I am scared of dying.

I wouldn't want to have immortality. I get upset when people move away, let alone if I had to lose everyone and know that everyone I loved and cared for would fall away time and time again. Even if I did get to see the future generations, I really don't think I want to, especially with how much society and the human race is already decaying. I have lost people very close to me before, the pain is like nothing else. To feel that forever every single time I lose someone, I wouldn't choose that.

It would be nice to have so much time to do everything I ever wanted, but, if there is no chance of death then you won't live.

Dying is what makes us live, if you had eternity you wouldn't appreciate it.

I am terrified of growing old, that is no secret, but at least when my time comes, I can look back and say yeah, I lived.

I've been reading alot about social ties and connections here. Also I've seen how everyone wants eternal knowledge. My personal philosophy with prevent me from relating to either point. For me I'd like to have immortality. Sure everyone I'd know will die, but I'm an introverted person to begin with so I wouldn't care. not being able to die would mean no consequece IE I'd become this "super villan" I keep hearing about. This wouldn't bother me because I'm also a greedy person aswell. You see, my objective in life is to amass as much happiness as I can. Immortality would make that number infinity. However, I don't really like the thought of living period. I just want to exist.

I'm sorry if my points seemed disjointed and lacking any structure. It works in my head, but I don't know how to put it into words.

I don't know why but I think that life is only beautiful when you live with your generation. With immortality you would just watch as your friends die and you just remain the same... I once did something I was ashamed of to a friend and it has come back to haunt me even now... I'm not really sure I want to experience that pain and unfairness to everyone else.

To be immortal would be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Think of the fire you come under if you continued to defy medical science. Wouldn't you be forced to live with your back to the wall with others seeking your timeless knowledge and secret to immortality? At the same time having the ability to gain wisdom for generations to come would be amazing.

It wouldn't be fun unless you are a borderline sadomasochist and would enjoy watching everyone you love around you die miserably while you are tortured to watch their deaths. You couldn't be in a long term relationship, seeing as your spouse would die before you do. You would be psychologically plagued constantly, as you would never have anyone around you permanently, seeing as they would all die while you wouldn't. Since you wouldn't be invulnerable, you would still feel the sickening pains of life-both physical and psychological-and would still live.

I'm not going to make this too long, so in the short end, Immortality = A burden. In fact, you can read a very short children's book called "Tuck Everlasting" about the dangers of immortality (though it is not very in depth on the aforementioned topic, to my relative knowledge of reading it many, many years ago.)
