Of course I would take it, but I was watching Casper, and it says ghosts have unfinished business in the world, but what would you do when you finish those tasks? There would be nothing to do and I would be bored, so would I take it? No, I'll probably be reincarnated or something to that effect anyway.

I probably would choose it sheerly out of the reason that I fear death. Just like most people do.

I'm sure I'll find a resolution before I die, so having immortality would be very redundant for me.

But hey, if we were all immortal, that'd be epic.

Life being immortal would suck... Everyone you know or love will eventually die and you'll still be alive...
Kinda reminds me of Fortune from Metal Gear Solid 2...

They way I see, there are more pros for immortality than cons. I'd rather live forever then live for a short time. Longevity, ftw.

Immortality sounds awesome, but like discussed it's also bad cause of all the people you see dying. If you fell in love, only to watch him/her die....to me I'd try to commit suicide, but of course you can't. Living with that type of pain would be horrible, I can't imagine it.

    I would never accept immortality.

I'd be at peace with myself if I were to die normally. Staying immortal is nothing more than a pipe dream. It's not even worth it.

    Reasons have already been explained.

i know one argument is that you would miss everyone but what about people who either hate or just plain dislike every other person on the planet

    (no im not like that)

Look, one thing I DO know Is that EVERYONE Is suppose to die at one stage of life. Thats why I myself aren't really scared of death, because I know Its gonna happen, so why be scared?
Anywho, because of my opinion I wouldn't choose to be Immortal. I want to see what death Is like, If there Is an afterlife, or a heaven or anything like that. Anyway, I don't wanna keep aging and getting more old and old until I want to kill myself, but then knowing that I CANT kill myself would be suffering pain

I wouldn't. I'd hate to live forever, especially if something horrible were to happen in the future, and constantly looking for someone to love, friends, new family. Too much pressure.

I would take it, so I could theoretically affect history for eternity.

I would take it if you didn't age. I'm always wondering what the world will be like after I'm dead. Yes family members dying and friends dying would be painful but I would have all eternity to get over it. Plus watching someone grow up from the day they are born until the day they die seems interesting to me. That might sound weird but hey...

The price to pay (for immortality)...is NOT worth it for me.

It would break my heart to watch children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so on and so forth grow old and die from old age. Can you imagine going to your great-great-g-g-g-g-g-grandchild's funeral!??!

Outliving friends and family for generations....

At that point, I would no longer be me.... The person I am now, would be dead. Yes, the body may be alive and functioning..., but my heart would be encased in stone and calloused to the world. Isolation would've grown as the only way to protect against the painful loss of loved ones.

Becoming hardened to the loss of others, being able to watch loved ones die without a care...that would be worse than death. Where's the heart in a life that doesn't care about anyone other than self???

    Nope.

    I'd rather be mortal.

I'd like to point out 2 things. If you where immortal, and couldn't bear to see your close ones die then you could:
    1) Decide not to have children.
    2) Go live somewhere far away from those people.

Additionally, would you like to actually see your grand-grandchildren in a youthful state and tell them who you are? Oo?

Imo immortality would be more dreadful then dying. All your loved ones around you dying and you have to keep going on when everybody you care about is well gone.

See, it all depends, if immortality means eternal youth, then I would take it, but if it means you CANNOT die, then no. If something was too much (like seeing someone die) then all I would have to do is kill myself, but if you couldn't, and you had to bear with it, it would be hell, so, depending on what you mean by 'Immortality' I might take it, I might not.
