Time exists, just our measurement of the passage of time is the artificial part. Time is the fourth dimension, so if it ended then everything would freeze in its thre dimensions lol 'forever'. But forever wouldn't exist so then we would all cry frozen teats of "omg this is annoying"

Yeah.Besides, that's what i think the meaning of life is.It's the question itself! The meaning of life,is trying looking for it,even though that you know that you'll never find an answer!

That is something I think about a lot :P

Even if I could stay the age I am now, I still wouldn't want to. For one thing you would miss out on the experience of growing older, which, daunting as it may be, is something I still would want to experience. Life is nothing without facing everything.

first off O_o why does this remind me so much of Doctor Who?

Hmm, I don't think I would take the chance if I was given it, like most of the other people said, having to face the pain of all your friends and family growing old and passing on would just be to much, it would cause me to want death myself. Of course again like someone else said, wanting death but you can't die would just make ou go insane.

    Why Doctor Who? O_O

It seems to me like immortality would actually be more of a curse than a gift =/ now I think about it, I can't think of anything that would actually make it worthwhile.

I was expecting more people to say they would choose it :P

xD lol "great minds think a like, but fools never differ" I wonder which category we would belong to :P

lol, cool you know Doctore Who to? *loves that show*

You're like me I start missing my friends right after they leave
me: *at end of school* NUUUUUUU~! don't go *tear*
    friend: -__-

so therefore I couldn't deal to lose them all for imortality.

Cuz the doctor is supossedly immortal, or at least close to it. He makes friends, but then watches as they die off....

    [spoilerz!!]

Also cuz the face of boe/Captain Jack was immortal.. sort of.. but he hd the same problem as the doctor.

    [/endspoilerz!!!]

EDIT: lol my browser took like 20 seconds trying to figure out what the spoiler tags were...

Exactly, I can imagine how hard it must be for him, and also talk of end of time and such, just like that episode where they went to the very end of time with martha,
    *spoliers*

and that makes you think there is an end to time and life so would even the imortal not live at that point?

    *spoilers*
off topic kinda - That was only cuz he was revived by rose (badwolf) so he became a fact in time rather than a being in time.

    Hmm interesting question.

I would say, since it was pointed out, that you'd grow 'old' but not die...no. Being elderly forever would be a pain in the butt, especially if Social Security went out! Then I would be too old and feeble to work and no one would support me and that would just stink! That's part of the right of being an old coot. =:)

However, if it was something that would freeze me in the age I am now, hmm, maybe. I mean, I can do all that society has to offer at my age and not be told legally I cannot. However, being 'immortal' instead of just extending life, I don't know if I'd go for that. As others have pointed out, things change and life changes, people die, etc. It would sooner or later possibly be too much for me to bear. I'd be visiting some doctor in the Netherlands to put me out of my misery. It would be fun for a while though, going around and experiencing life to the fullest. I'd have to say no in the end and hope instead for something that would just extend life rather than keep me around forever.

Of course, it could be fun for another reason too...imagine ..Repliku would be around forever to terrorize people! Okay, done now. People can stop crying.

There are MEANY, MEANY ways to do that. I looked at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortality
Obviously, a lot of that page is invalid to us, since it describes the immortality of the soul, religion and afterlife.

The "Causes of death" part at the beginning is interesting. Aging and Disease are easy to overcome by the imagination, but Trauma? Seriously, what if someone would just chop your head off?
The next interesting part, is "Fiction", and among those, Undeath and Regeneration.

There's no one way to be immortal. It all depends on the imagination, and the expectations of the person that's talking about it.

The truth is we don't know. Nothing in science is for absolute certain. Every theory we have could be wrong, Every single one of them. That is because it is impossible to test every single eventuality as there is an infinite number of them.

Another problem is it is very hard, well close to impossible, for us to comprehend anything and everything infinite. It is just outside of our level of existance. We cannot visualise what an infinite universe looks like. Or how the universe is expanding (the question being what is it expanding into if it is space itself?) So something like living forever is a difficult concept to grasp. I mean, I've only been alive for 16 and a half years and it has already felt like a lifetime, and I hopefully have another 60 odd years ahead of me =/.

there is no time like this time... your life is what you make of it... its like a blank canvas with your paints, your choices... nothing could make me choose immortality......

The cons far outweigh the pros for me on this one.

    Pros

For one thing, you'd be able to see new advances and new eras. Advances in science and technology. Perhaps we'd be able to see people colonizing the moon and other planets someday. Maybe there would be advances in medicine that we don't have today.

    Cons

It would be depressing. Watching your friends and family grow old and die and knowing you would never see them again. Never wanting to make new friends or have children to damn them to the same fate? I know I would be depressed about this.

And what if these advances we make in the future are too terrifying for us to comprehend? What if we do clone Hitler and he does the same as the original only he succeeds to create a new Nazi regime? What if we do colonize other planets and find that there is life out there and it is hostile?

I'm largely thinking The Time Machine for this part: What if eventually humans become into 2 castes. 1 being food the other. Would we want to see such things ourselves? I know I couldn't.
