Im Reading the Golden Compass is that so wrong?

ok so i saw the golden compass movie with a friend of mine and we LOVED IT! but! theres a problem...most people in my school (public highschool) think its "the anti christ book" or "evil" all cause the man who wrote it was Atheist

big f-ing woop

i asked one of my friends after she saw me reading it and yelled at me for do just that i asked "so if there was a guy that was Atheist and we (this guy and myself) had everything in common but! hes Atheist i shouldnt be is friend" and he answer was "yes"

so my question is that just because people donw belive the same as you are they "bad" and is reading a book or seeing a moive that your chruch (im roman catholic by the way) says is wrong still ok? i know its fiction so im not going to start worshiping it and i am saying to people that get mad that im reading it

"just cause i have a religon doesnt mean i cant have an imagination"

so what i want to know is.... is it ok read..wacth or talk about what ever you want even if its "bad" in the eyes of the chruch?

ugh crap...well this is really me talking about my story on it but i guess i would inderstand if the mods block this thread sorry guys -_-

 

The answer is obviously no. These are just closed-minded perceptions at work and different points of view. Some where out there people think I'm bad because I eat meat, wear store bought clothing, drink iced tea, whatever. "Bad" doesn't even apply to such cases because they're subjective value judgments.
