Man, I feel the exact opposite. I hated high school. College is the only time I've ever actively enjoyed school. I do miss some things about it I suppose (friends), but otherwise...

Anyway, like others have said, you don't have to go to an Ivy League to have a successful career in computer science or EE, but you'll need math skills. CS is my college major and even the basic intro course had a lot of mathematical problem-solving. If you want to shoot for an Ivy League school though, go for it.

As for high school... I wish my high school offered Japanese at all (or hell, even sign language, that sounds fun). I took classes this year and liked them so much I added it as a minor. Just don't get involved in too much drama and things should be fine.

I hated high school too, just not as much as I am currently hating on college.

Oh, I remembered something >3<. Okay so I read that at MIT during your first year you don't have to pick a major, they kind of have it so you can see everything first them pick your major. If you don't know what you're going to do.

As far as I'm aware that's true of most United States universities. You can begin undeclared or open option and take academic exploration classes.

Well for a compromise, most colleges have a study abroad program. Wherever you end up going, you could probably utilize that to go for a semester (or maybe even a year, or a summer).

I can't offer too much useful advice since my high school ran 7-12, but I do think something to keep in mind is to just try and put yourself out there and show what you've got! While more limited than college/uni, there are some neat things to get active in in high school (afterschool clubs, STUDENT GOVERNMENT, auditioning for a play or something like that). I didn't do a lot extracurricular wise till near the end of high school, and I always really regretted not doing it sooner because it can be a fun experience and just something to break up the monotony.

High school can be kinda ****** since people are still figuring themselves out and it's a stressful time, but be sure to have some fun so that you're not stressed out all the time. :b

Not at all! College is definitely home to a lot more opportunities and a more interesting learning environment than high school, imo. It can also be kinda tough with classes being more rigorous and the ever looming student loans issue, but what you put into it is what you get out of it. Just be sure to try and give it your all, and you can be pleased with your results.

If you keep your enthusiasm as much as you can, you will have a better chance of reaching your goals. The others have provided some extremely sound advice and I have faith you will survive excellently, friend. The other things I can add, especially considering your future aspirations in regards to post-secondary, are to look beyond school and do things in a community. Make a name for yourself in the school but involve yourself in your actual community as well. Embrace new, positive experiences, ones that will better you as a person. Start and create new things. Innovate.

One of the biggest things to learn as you step forward is time management. Use these years to train you and train you well, because proper time management is a major pathway to making your school life smoother while simultaneously achieving the goals you desire. Take it slowly, pace yourself, and train yourself to your ability to manage your time well. It will most definitely help in the long run.

Finally, your goals -- especially for post-secondary -- may indeed require quite a bit of mathematical focus. But it is absolutely achievable, and I am immensely proud that you are taking on such an assertive role with learning it yourself! Many people find math abstract at times, so if you ever feel frustrated, remember well that there are hundreds of resources to teach you on the internet and elsewhere that can help you, whether they are books or videos or even people. If you want something slightly more applicable to direct work, focus on strengthening what you already know but still feels a bit fuzzy in your brain. Solidify the foundations, for foundations are what all math builds upon, and it becomes just a bit easier to understand something when you know the why behind math. Makaze's link is an excellent source.

    You are ready.

    That's literally all I do.
I'm actually freaking out over here. I never get this many replies when I post a thread. It's a little overwhelming.

I wouldn't beleive what was written there. The guy who edited it is weird. Like who the heck names their female child Billiam F. Preston. Not my parents.
