I think the concept is overwhelming. My question is: Why?
Thoughts?

 

Wow, that's.................interesting.

 

I wouldn't really see the point as these would be purely aesthetic features and do nothing really for a person other than just well...having these extra body parts. I.e. birds have wings but also have hollow bones so they are lighter and could actually use them. For us, they'd be purely a decoration. Tails would also be kind of lame and just something extra.

However, I suppose if people have money to blow and want them ...I can't really say it's so much more strange than wanting fake boobs or other amplified body parts etc. It would be weird and not something I'd do but if it were possible, it would just be totally about looks and have no real functionality at all. Kind of worthless in my opinion but for some people, I suppose it would be cool enough.

 

Sounds entertaining. But there is really no point. At the end of the day, they'll have to pay bills and do things that humans do.

It sounds nice for a halloween party, though it might be over the top, imo.

 

Yeah, same for cosplay. It's not something you would want for everyday life.

 

It'll turn into a fad like most things do these days, botox was all the rage amongst the people who could afford it, and any other type of plastic surgery. Next thing you know someones gonna step out of a limo with wings and suddenly people will be taking out loans and selling their children to get it. Its the way america works, well the world if they can afford it.

Personally I have a very very hard time seeing this catch on, cause the process would seem very invasive and dangerous. To me it seems like a theory some guy just wants to achieve I don't see it going anywhere really. Just like when all the little high school goth kids got those prosthetic vampire teeth.

 

So...people will be able to become One Winged Angels in five years? Wow...interesting..

 

I think it's stupid, humans should just stay human.
And it would be a total waste of time to have wings and not be able to fly with them.

Why do we need wings or tails? What exactly do you gain from getting these extra body parts?

Like Repliku said, with wings you couldn't really fly; we're not light enough. Unless you want to starve yourself just so you could maybe hover for a few seconds? Tails. What will you gain from that? "Check it out, I got a tail." So? You going to hit people with it? Great way to get arrested, right? Gaining animal characteristics is indeed creative, but also disturbing if it goes wrong. What if you end up not exactly how you wanted? Not good at all, I'm afraid.

Secondly, where will you get the extra skin? The nerves? Cells, muscle tissue, veins, arteries, bones, etc. Where could you get them? These are all questions that would be the hardest to answer. What if you have some strange medical reaction to the feathers or to the scales or the extra skin, cells, etc.? This idea is honestly just a good one in a fairy tale, but here in reality: its not good.

 

Well, you do have a point, but what if we found a way to fly. That would be cool.

 

We did find a way to fly, it's called 'Helicopters and Air Planes'

 

To be honest, I would much rather see something useful grafted to the human body. I know on TED there was a man who was talking about taking skin and tissue from salamanders and goat stomachs and applying them to recently severed limbs, making them regrow to a certain extent. Now THAT is something that would be useful, and something I think people should waste their time on rather then "I'm going to maim a human being's body in order to cripple their social life and take their money for it.". I mean I'm sure people will spend money to buy this stuff but I doubt there's people that will keep them or will not regret their decisions after the surgery is performed.

Lmfao. I see a fan made pic with an anime girl on photobucket of a girl with cat ears, and a cat tail and I think to myself "Well, that looks a little sexy".

I see a girl wearing a costume with a cat tail, cat ears, and I think "Dam she's hot"

I see a girl with real cat ears and a real cat tail, and I think "I actually used to think this kind of **** was hot?"



Not for nothen, but humans having animal body parts is a bit disturbing. If someone thinks that they are gonna be able to fly cuz they got wings, then they are dead wrong. Only thing they are doing is adding extra body parts to themselves, which will most likely result in some horrible accident.


I don't think I would be the only one in saying that if this ever becomes a reality, and this is possible, then if humans are still around by then, then at some point, I can almost bet my entire soul on the fact that some metal head, emo, goth, or whatever you think kind of a singer in a band, or maybe an entire band, is gonna end up getting animal parts. Am I wrong? I mean, didn't Marlyn Mansin (I 4get how to spell his name, lmao) have plastic surgery just so he could get one boob for an album cover or something like that?

They say there that they'll be able to graft the wings but they never mentioned that the human body isn't balanced for flying and if you graft wings onto a person they'd need to be pretty big to carry the weight of a person.It would be more of a hinderance then a help getting in doors or doing anything with wings because in order for you to move something it needs to have nerves which means that you can feel pain through the wings too which means you'd be more accident prone.

 

Well, all those rich folks will soon look nice. Until something goes horribly wrong......

But yeah, this will mostly be for appearances. And even then some people might not like it is they use white wings and start looking like angels. I suppose there may be some functional parts that some people might find handy, but wings aren't going to help anyone.

 

yeah, something will probably go Horridly wrong with it, they get mad, Sue the doctors, ect. ect. ect.. now i dont think its gonna happen, it just seems so... impossible...

 

What if you got tired of them? What would you resort to? 5 hours added onto that travelling time on a boat or a train, or 1 extra hour on wings?
