    You picked interesting positions of where to cut, I have no complaints there, and you also seemed to color quite nicely. Yet, I feel like some parts should be improved, such as the shadows, and what not.

    Overall, pretty good, specially on the eyes.

    ...don't save this avy's as gifs.

    Gifs are for animation. Jpegs are meant to conserve space for internet use, png's are meant to retain picture quality. Always save stuff like this as png.

    I'm not a huge fan of the grainy texture, and as Chevalier said you could work a bit on shading.

    The colouring itself isn't at all too bad however. You did a pretty good job on that. =)

    That's the small file type that my photoshop likes to save as. I'll have to see if I can change the default settings.

    that texture just comes from the scans themselves :/ I never thought to get rid of it

    This is why I usually prefer vectoring rather than just filling in directly on a scan. It looks cleaner and smoother. =)

    It also gives you more freedom to accentuate shading and lighting as you see fit rather than just using those pixel-y shades.
