This. This is some next level ****. We are in the future, people. It's finally happened. We're finally living in the same time that Her took place. I can't fathom this. This will probably be the coolest addition to my new apartment.
in 5 years we will look back at this thread and say "lol we thought THAT was the future? some obtrusive cylinder that you talk to? lol wtf who designed that ****?" like lights that you clap to turn on. yeah, that's the future alright. who knows, maybe this is the next big step towards that unobtainable vision of "the future" but it will have to go through a couple aesthetic overhauls before i'm convinced. i don't understand this fascination with voice commands. maybe its because i'm a quiet guy, but speaking to do something that i could do with a couple strokes on a screen or clicks on a keyboard seems like a waste. takes more effort to say words than do that. but i hope you enjoy it.
the only practical use i have for them is when i'm driving i'll use them to control my music or something considering that one of my last google searches was "astronaut love triangle rubber tubing" i don't really want to be dictating questions aloud
Google already has a voice command option but it messes up most of my searches, I tried it mostly for the lulz anyway. Besides I' d rather read up the answers, it' s a hell of a lot faster than listening for me. Not to mention I have no clue how this machine could possibly come up with a definitive source. "Alexa, do I still have a brain ?" "No." When I was a kid I was promised flying cars with a TV set and a Super Nintendo in the back. I am not disappoint though, flying cars not existing are the reason I still have walls. Erm ... don' t ask ?
I think this thing should only be handed to old people or people with disabilities. Im not this freaking lazy tbh.
I have an Alexa. It's okay. Amazon has a great marketing department that makes you think these things are some super AIs that answers all your questions, but they really aren't. The only reason I still own it is so I can use voice commands to listen to Prime music.
