Not really. The social culture has just come to accept Christmas. Think of it as an end of the year celebration.

It's definitely a topic up for debate.

On one side, you have that most of society grew up Christian so they celebrate it, even though they're not Christian because it's all they know. On the other hand, you have the argument that a lot of families don't associate Christmas was the church so it's easy for deconverters to celebrate it without associating it with Christmas. Either way, the non-Christian Christmas I think at this point has become basically a universal holiday to all those that accept the spirit.

Well bah humbug to you too.
And it probably would be if America hadn't been founded by Protestants.

We require a secular holiday. Someone bring back Saturnalia.

I enjoy the way that Christmas brings so many people together, and the fact that, for one day, 99.99% of the world can co-exist peacefully.

Yeah that is one of the perks to celebrating the holiday.

You know what I never understood? Why do people capitalize the word "Atheist?" It's not a religion, it's just a lack of belief in gods and godlike deities.

I don't know, I just see people capitalizing it all the time so I thought it was correct.

It is correct, but I don't get why it's correct. There's no reason why it would be capitalized.

Last time I checked Santa wasn' t in the Bible.
Last year I couldn' t join my family, so instead I joined a bunch of friends who were in the same boat. We ate chocolates and cakes, exchanged gifts and drank our brains out. Trust me, there was nothing Christian there.

I just don't see it as a secular holiday designed for everyone.

but it orignally was, it was the celebration of the winter solstice leading to the new year, the church just decided to use it to celebrate Jesus' birth (which wasn't even at christmas)

Hey--who cares if you're a Jew? I've got a Jewish friend and he's awesome. You should celebrate Honikah with him. But I don't think you'd travel all the way to Washington D.C.
