If you travel too far into the future, you might end up in the past.

Actually there is evidence to support this! For example science has shown that if you travel backwards from the planet at a fast enough speed then you can pick up radio broadcasts from the past! Astronauts can listen to for example the 1950's. Also take in mind the fact that everything you see technically is occuring in the past (time delay theory in the organisation of images in the eye) and that if you look far enough in space you are seeing stars how they looked when the dinosaurs were still about! So if we can see the past occuring in the "present" then it's surely plausible (spelling?) that from the future we can see the present!

    :D so yeah...

not possible. time travel itself is impossible. theres even a parapox an it. if you go back in time, and kill your father, your father would never grow up to have you, so you couldnt have gone back to the past because, you dont exist.

but it is an impressive theory.

Who said anything about killing? I read the entire thread and no one mentioned Death. You mean a Paradox? Well, the person you thought was your father isn't really your father then! It's called a Grandfather Paradox.

    TIME PARADOX! OCELOT IS DEAD!

    Whoops...

The idea of time travel is an interesting one but also one that could come back to kick you in the end. Okay...say you went back before WWII and fired a gun. Come to present day and the world is under rule by the Nazis in the Thousand Year Reich.

In movies, tv shows, etc, whenver time travel is involved, there is always strict instruction to not do anything that would change history.

But c'mon, shooting Ocelot was undeniably satisfying in MGS3. XD

    XD I have no idea.

Did I come too far out of left field with that last idea?

Darnit. Oh well, should never try and bring Metal Gear into a logical discussion. Logic just flies out the window in sight of it. xD

no, nobody mentioned killing, its just part of the paradox. allright, if you kill your grandfather then, your dad wouldnt xist, and thus you wouldnt exist and you cant go back in time because you dont exist.

sorry for changing your converstaion but i got theory, if what Zexion of the Twilight said that if a person travels past the end of the universe, he ends up in the past, that maybe a part of theory. I think that even if the person is way past the end of the universe don't you think the time will go in random whether he/she goes back to his/her time, he/she goes to the future, or to the past.

I actually have a theory that the universe is symmetrical (Like...there are many more earths that are functioning exactly like ours), and certain things will end at different times in a continuous circle. It's difficult for me to explain, but basically, TIME doesn't start over again, because time is an idea; it's Matter and Life itself that starts over again. And so, we could have just as easily have been living trillions of years ago. As the same people, in the same situations.

Hmm, I came up with a similar theory last year.

I saw it as time begins at the big bang, the universe spreads out with time, then collapses to the central point, in which, time begins a new.

The one whom you though was your grandfather isn't really your grandfather and the dad is still born, which in turn, the time traveler is born to start the entire pointless process again. Time has a way of fixing itself.

That continuous loop would mean whatever year the last future year is... is maybe when humanity completely dies off... then... the string of future breaks off... and a loop is created, so the person is sent into the past instead of farther into the future... because humanity no longer thrives... :/

But if humanity no longer survives then you would reside in a desolate waste land. You could go into the past because in the past there was an abundance of natural resources that help everyone survive. Where as if humanity dies off that would mean there is nothing to survive on. So I highly doubt this contious loop theory is possible.
