If you, a human being, had the way and time to kill what we refer to as Devil..
Would you kill the almighty evil?

Just, what if you could, this being that has caused hunger, death and disease to millions, a being who has created pain, suffering, evil in the world, if you could would you stop it?

And depending on what you think, you can apply this to God, if you wish to, if he is the creator, he created all of the negative experiences i've listed.

No, because there needs to be a balance in the world. Some of the greatest inventions have come to us because of the act of evil. In some ways evils have helped promote the advancement in technology.

Plus if we all became peace-loving people how would we defend ourselves from the inevitable alien invasion?

No, because neither the God nor the Devil exist.

It's a 'what if', not an actual fact. I'm trying to get answers on the situation presented, and not the belief that relegious beings may or may not exist. Please tell what you would do in this fantastical situation.

Quite possibly, assuming both God and the Devil exist, it's possible that some other angel might take the Devil's place, as a form of universal balancing. Also, I don't remember where I read it, but there is a phrase - something about "how can you appreciate the light, if there is no darkness?".

On topic, though, would I kill the Devil? No. I would kill all his followers (it stands to reason that if I have the power to kill a demigod, I can kill everyone who follows him).

I follow the yin-yang concept that in order to know darkness you have to have light, and in order to have light you must know darkness.
Now if there was a so called devil, I would not hate him, because hate is not in my nature. I can't hate someone who helps bring balance to the world by bringing chaos.

The meaning of life is to overcome your obstacles, if there is no obstacles, then there is no life. The meaning of life is to make obstacles for others, if there is no one to make obstacles for then there is no life.

Its, because of this concept that I believe there is no heaven, nor hell.
The world is made of colors, and there would be no colors if there wasn’t any light, nor would there be any colors if there wasn’t darkness.
I would not destroy darkness, nor would I destroy light.

I would be surprised if anyone here would think it would be a good idea to kill darkness; especially since one of the main themes of Kingdom Hearts was the yin yang principle.

What do you mean by his followers? You mean satanist, or anyone who commits sins( which is everyone).

IF I did have the power,I wouldn't use it cause there has to be a balance between good and evil, that would be the reason why god would have created the devil,to maintain equilibrium in the world.

Also, how creepy would the world look if we were ALL HAPPY?

I'd do it, if I thought the stage was set to create utopia.

Although, in the worlds current state of affairs, people dieing less would be a bad thing.

Within a generation, people would start overpopulating the earth, then we have a bigger problem than we started with. The earth is already overpopulated in my opinion.

However, if human breeding was discontinued, and there was a mass culling of "evil people" then we might have a chance.

As for the great advancments in technology, we'd not need modern medicine if not for disease and illness.

Therefore, there would be no need for human experimentation of medicine.

All the responses are good, I like everyone's thoughts.

HOwever, how bout I say, what if you had the power to remove evil AND good from our lives? Would you remove the constant struggle between the light and dark and leave us with just the world we have?

Hmm. Well I'd have to agree with Jedi, there needs to be a balance.

It if was possible the world would have been what it was intended to be a Utopia and therefore evil would have never existed and we would of never had to come up with the deadly forces of weapons we have now. Eventually it was bound to happen and to get rid of that balance would in a way mess up the life as we know it. In order for the good to prosper and become stronger it has to overcome the challenges of evil regarding what ever they are in any situation.

If evil were to strike and get rid of good for all, then of course it would be abousultely vital for evil and the devil to be defeated and if I held the power to do so I would allign myself with others who could take Satan out as well. For it would take a team effort and not one self to stand any kind of chance. Of course it depends on what kind of power one would have to have in order to destroy the evil.

Most definitely not. Like a lot of people are saying, there needs to be a balance in the world.

Also, if I killed the Devil, what then?

If I killed the almighty evil, there'd be nothing left. Just like if I salvaged the power of good (God) in reality, there'd be nothing left. Everything is both good and bad, imo.

Although getting rid of the ultimate evil sounds poetic, it could be adventurous too.

I'm not sure this would be possible. If you remove the "Devil" another dark force would definitely take his/its, whatever, place. Now, removing the good? We'd be left with nothing. Where there is light, there's darkness and where darkness exists there is some light. I wouldn't say that everything would be "balanced" if you removed both, because every story needs a central conflict. Good and evil need to constantly interact. That's just my opinion.

I don't feel you can remove good and evil because they are concepts we made up to have an excuse for things like war, famine, peace, genocide, etc...

    just a thought.

i can take this from an anime i just finished XD: it might be nicely idealistic to try and think we can rid the world of evil and get rid of anything that can cause others pain, anger, vengeful thoughts, jealousy, etc. BUT the truth is we need things like "the devil" to balance out with the good. its part of life to have good and bad, so even if we had the power to get rid of "evil" thats just not the way things work :D
