Why can't hollywood ever take a great idea and make as minimal chages to it as possible?

Also, I just had a horrible thought...what if this gets the same attention and fanbase Twilight did?

 

So I heard Zac Efron is playing Luke.

Surely the directors know that their primary audience is the anime fanbase? Then why do they remake the movies to be another one of their crap hi skewl movies? Also, we've now got this utterly idiotic plot about Kira actually caring about people's lives! Come ON! Not to mention that he has this stupid thing going with his mother being killed. Cut the emo crap and get to the god complex. We've got enough emo crap on already. Let's stick to the original insane character who killed off entire prisons every day of the week.

For some funny reason, I just cannot stop imagining that if they ever choose Zac Efron as "Luke" he will at some point wear the wild cats uniform,with ball in hand and start singing.

Zac Effron can't play Luke/Light. He's too preppy

 

He's a great actor and it's disappointing that people look to HSM to define his acting abilities.

 

It's not just HSM. Look at the movies he's been playing in. None of his roles were as serious as what he would be playing if they didn't change up the plot.

and Hairspray would not count as serious....
