and then you cut off the limb
    would you bleed
What circumstances are required to not bleed at all when a limb is cut off

Cutting off the circulation also means that blood still resides on the end that is no longer en route through the circulatory system. You would bleed if the limb were then cut off, being the only flowing exit possible for the fluid.

    OR

get a vampire to suck at his job.

You just answered your own question mate. also, google is a thing. do the proper research if you really want to know and it might lead you to learn about more things with anatomy or whatever you're wanting to know more about. Asking here isn't going to give you satisfying answers since we aren't medical doctors or anything like that.

The only way for you to not bleed is if you died. Your heart is gonna try to pump blood to that limb.

EDIT: You'd have to apply a tourniquet for at least a couple of days and it would still bleed if you were to cut off that limb, because of remaining blood in your arteries and tissue. That'd be painful beyond belief...

Death, obviously. The real question is would poison move through the body if it's circulation was cut off.

If you used a lightsaber to cut off the limb, the wound would be instantly cauterized and wouldn't bleed.

Based on information in the novels and EU, certain Jedi disappear upon death (rather than receiving flesh wounds) because they are becoming One with the Force; it is those Jedi who can later reappear as Force Ghosts. It's of course a very mysterious technique that requires an extremely powerful Jedi, hence why Obi-Wan disappears whereas Luke's arm is simply chopped off (though Luke's injury also wasn't fatal).

    I've heard this story
Qui-Gon created the technique after death or something and returned to teach it to Obi-Wan and Yoda? i think? Something like that. Which is why those two disappear but no one else. i think. i heard that it's surprisingly consistent with everything that came before and just works.

but i think he may be referring to the guy who gut cut in the bar. the guy who has problems with everybody for no reason. i think there was blood then.
of course i have no idea what's being discussed here so this may all be totally irrelevant

Obi cuts some dude's arm off with a lightsaber. It bleeds.

Unfortunately the entirety of the EU was dubbed as non-canon wasn't it?

    yeah but **** disney soo
in my head it's just "another" continuity. just as valid as the new eu with disney but not the one currently running.

Suppose the easiest explanation there is that he wasn't human and therefore may not biologically function the same as us.
Not exactly. The entire idea of "canon" in Star Wars is already shady because there are multiple levels of canon. The most reliable is the movies of course, and because this particular issue is shown in the movies and expanded upon in the novels, it's somewhere near movie level canon, which Disney hasn't thrown out. Furthermore, my understanding of Disney's announcements regarding the EU are simply that they are going to pick and choose what they deem canon; it's highly likely that the new movies will be based upon the EU, with changes, therefore making some parts of the EU canon indeed.

Basically just don't ever bring up canon in a conversation about Star Wars because nobody has a ****ing clue, not even Lucas. It's basically just "whatever the **** I want to do and can find some minor support for in the EU or the movies."

i know. and im not condemning them for making everything that came before non-canonical either, they had no choice if they're going to make new movies otherwise their hands would be tied. it just kinda sucks.
