Is it even possible to have that many tabs open at once?

Yeah, but I've still never had more than 100 tabs open at one time.

Items that are being saved on your physical memory, your hard drive, rather than on your RAM. If you'll just go into system tools and run disk cleanup every, and this is the max limit, week. Once a week should keep any unnecessary use of your hard drive to a minimum. After running disk cleanup, run the defragmenter as this clears up some more space consumed on your hard drive. It might not be much but you should see a noticeable difference. Other than that, I could only recommend installing, or having someone else install, your operating system on a larger hard drive.

When referring to physical space I always mean hard drive. Your RAM, random access memory, is not physical in the sense it will still be there upon next boot. Your RAM only stores certain things until you shut down, power off, your computer. Your hard drive physically stores files in the sense that they will still be there upon next boot up.

I highly doubt that even with 100 tabs open you'd use even a GB in temp internet files. However, and don't be fooled when it says temporary, temporary internet files are not always temporary until you delete them yourself. That's why it's always good to run disk cleanup every now and then. I rarely clean mine out but I have plenty of space to use so it's not a problem. On systems with a smaller amount of space, however, it's best to clean it out at least once a week.

I have, however, saw a computer crash once before because it had been left running for a year. A whole year with no time to relax!!! And the thing that got it was the RAM. It had gone for so long without being able to clear the cache on the RAM that it just froze. There was no more RAM to use so it just quit working. Turned it off and back on and it was back to normal.

No problem ^^ Anytime you have any issues I'd be glad to try and help. After all, computer maintenance is one of my strong points.

The whole 1000 vs 1024 debate tends to piss me off a bit, really just because there is no real reason for the 1000 model to exist. Sure, maybe they shouldn't have decided to use the metric prefix, but then retroactively going "kilo should always mean 1000, all you techy people are wrong" just adds so much unnecessary confusion. The only place off hand that I can think of 1000 being used is in marketing harddrives to make them sound bigger than they actually are, and in software that gives you the choice in which to use.

When I first heard about the kibibyte, mebibyte, etc. labels 5 years ago I thought for sure that would be one the majority in IT would just go "screw you, we're not doing that", but here we are with half adopted nomenclature. I now rest slightly on using the new labels only because then there is no debate. If I say kibibyte everyone knows I mean 1024, but if I say kilobyte I don't know if the other person is thinking 1024 or 1000.

You remember the good ole days when people didn't change the meaning of terms that have been in use for a long time? You remember when a techy was a techy and knew what you meant? You remember when you could say kilobyte and not be attacked for being 'wrong'? You 'member? Honestly, I've never met another techy face to face who sided with using 1000. My old IT teacher was one of the most techy people in this world, she honestly got chills at the mention of anything technological, and she laughed at the mention of a kilobyte being 1000. At least she laughed the first time, after that she gave you hard assignments for making her mad.

I guess there are only 10 kinds of people in this world though. Those who understand computers and those who don't.
