Ahh Hatok, you describe it so well :3 I agree completely that it is no way to treat people like that, it's the same with trying to get someone to convert to your religion or someething, negativity is never the way to go about gaining acceptance. Sadly, minority groups tend to be treated with such negativity that sometimes they just feel like they have to scream back at the world and anyone who gets it wrong to get their point made.

Why they are so contradictory, I don't know. It could be simply down to the repression again, if society makes them feel bad for what they are doing then they want the world to be free of such constraints but because they feel so passionately about it they won't back down from their own feelings of gender identification. (I hope that made sense 0.o)

My few encounters with vocal members of the LGBT community have not gone well. I find it excessively difficult to empathize with them and when I can't read their mind to figure out what they want from me they blow off the handle. It might be childish but I just withdraw from them. If you are going to get that upset about me not doing things exactly right then you'll get nothing from me. Of course those are just the vocal ones that tend to start up drama. I've also known a couple that have been very patient with my ignorance on the subject.

On the point of the topic, I've don't have much. It can be frustrating when people make incorrect assumptions. I frequently get mistaken for a girl because of the long hair (the beard doesn't help as much as you might think), and when me and my sister hang out people think we're dating. Both of those are annoying but I can grin and correct them usually with some joke. I know it can be rougher when you get it a lot but they don't empathize with us much either. I can't tell what gender the male in a dress identifies as. And both the metrosexual and the transgender would be upset by my getting it wrong.

I've had the same sorts of encounters with some vocal feminists. Whether I agree with feminism or not, interacting with those particular people has turned me off from ever wanting to call myself a feminist. Being a privileged white male doesn't make me a bigot or mean I have a perfect, happy life that I rub in the face of anyone less privileged.

Fact of the matter is, it's about being accepted.

I'm Genderfluid, and I'm fine with being called he/him whenever I'm male and agender, because I never fluidate over to female. I'm still a guy and just happen to not feel like one at times, nor do I feel female. Despite the pronouns, I don't like being called a guy when I identify as agender because I'm not one, I just wouldn't feel comfortable being referred to as they/them.

But that's just me, a lot of people just don't care or know that not everyone is as aware of gender situations.

I can't explain it, but it's distinct. Make of that what you will, because it's the spam zone and nothing will be taken seriously.

By saying that, you're just asking to not be taken seriously. Treat the matter seriously and others will usually follow suit. Now I'm not going to lie. I didn't understand anything you said in this quote or earlier. You seem to contradict yourself and you're so ambiguous about it that makes wrapping my head around it even more difficult. But what else would you expect from me? I've never had that experience or anything similar to it so empathizing is basically impossible. Leaving it to others for them to figure it out by themselves doesn't really help you if you want to be accepted. It's on your shoulders to be able to put others in your shoes so they can understand you and empathize with you and only then will people be able to truly accept you.

Now I'm honestly curious. The concept of being genderfluid has always confused me because it seems like something that everybody experiences. Most people I know don't fit their gender role 100% (I doubt anybody does) but they don't think of themselves as any less of a man or woman. They just accept that that's just the way they are.

What does it mean to be genderfluid? Do you simply not identify with the role that is associated with your sex every now and then? Do you feel gender dysphoria when you're not male? Is there anything that causes a shift between genders? Enlighten me.

Yes, I'm very familiar with that thread, because the last time I made a thread on this topic @Ars Nova had it merged with that and it got buried and I never got my answer.

The last post of his in the other thread has a question mark and it is never quoted or tagged in the next five or so posts before it gets locked. So, from a perfectly logical perspective, no, his question wasn't answered.

Genderfluid means you just switch what you identify as. Some people go through the entire spectrum, others go through only two ends. It's basically just not having a set gender, and alternating what your gender is. Not to be confused with bigender, which is setting your gender as A or B, depending on the day and stuff. Genderfluid people can change every few minutes, every few months, it varies, but we don't have a set role.

I hope that makes sense, it's the best I can explain it.

    Identity crisis, really.

I don't get genders anyway, it's a social construct, not your sex and is not a necessity of life. I'm masculine and feminine, but I don't give **** if I'm described as either, as long as what they say doesn't offend me to a certain degree. Having longer than average hair for a guy, I've had comments that have annoyed me, but not enough for me to question my gender identity. If you're threatened by throw away comments about your gender, you have deeper issues than to be concerned about some people not being correct.

Apart from that, respect yourself and others. And if you don't, find out how to and earn that respect.
