    Sigh...
first off Jecht, spell your title right, otherwise people aren't going to take it seriously.
Second, riku wasn't an idiot, he wanted somethiing desperatly enough, and thought that he was greater than the darkness. If anything, he was arrogant and foolhardy, but not an idiot. Sora is the slow one, but he has such a kind and strong heart the keyblade goed to him. I'm sorry, but anyone who was supposed to be the true Keyblade master (Riku) isn't an idiot.

I have to agree with twilightstown. As a Riku lover, I am somewhat offended at such a blantant one dimensional view of this complicated character.

Here's how I see it: In KH1, Riku always loved being the stronger "older brother" type to Sora, and when he discovered that Sora had new friends and didn't seem to need him anymore, Riku was really jealous - he felt he had to prove how much better and stronger he was than Sora.
The only way he could have become an idiot was if he never realized the stupidity of his own egotism and selfishness. That's what makes him so human - who hasn't regretting things they've done and wished to take them back? We're all idiots then.

Ok, "idiot" is just a bit too much. But, turning towards darkness wouldn't exactly be number 1 on a regular person's list of solutions. And Riku deffinately would have been more fit to be the keyblade master

    Let's review here...

You call Riku an idiot, with a HORRIBLY mis-spelt intro post.

You then say he's an idiot because he turned over to the darkness....

If any thing, I applaud Riku for turning over to the darkness. He saw the keyhole and opened it, releasing the heartless on his hometown.

    FREAKIN' PWNAGE!!!!

Riku was a bad-*** in KH1. Most of us guys loved him for that.

Now, you're the type of person who only applauds the good-guys. That's fine. I'm guessing by your posts that you hate Riku completely. Well, if you want to know, he turned into a "good guy" (lol, air quotes) in CoM and KH2.

First of all they're right, especially In the Twilight. Riku feels rejected, replaced. What if, what if your friend said, "Oh well," after you disappeared again. Riku just doesn't understand that Sora wasn't worried about him because he looked up to him, he believed that Riku would be fine, no matter what. Yes, Riku's arrogant, yes, he can be an @$$, yes, it was stupid of him to turn to Darkness but after he felt that Sora replaced him his main focus was to save Kairi and he saw no other way than to turn to Darkness. If loving your friends enough to turn to Darkness means you're an idiot then fine. But that means there are a whole lot of idiots in the world.

Jecht you should really stop while your ahead.
Riku gave him the toy sword as a jab at the fact he wasn't supposed to have been the keyblade master. He gave him one of the swords they had used to play with on Destiny Island, thusly why Riku said: "Here, Sora. go play hero with this." At this point Riku thought Sora was against him, and was trying to put him down. And how can you call Riku an idiot for going to the darkside, then claim to like SEPHIROTH! He is darkness incarnate, one of the single most sadistic and screwed up villians EVER. You are making no sense, and only cementing the fact that you have no idea what you are talking about.

I understand that you are calling out to fellow KH1 riku haters on the forum, but a thread called "idoit riku" is going to also get some of his passionate defenders into the discussion to try and convince you otherwise.

He is but... in the end, it's his mistakes that made him stronger. Nobody's born strong, it's not a talent. He learned from his mistakes and grew from them, moved on, and in the end he's only stronger for it. Giving Sora only the wooden sword helped Sora too. It helped Sora realize that he doesn't need a fancy over sized key. He just needs his heart.
    and then later,
In the end, in an ironic twisted way, Riku helped Sora by taking the Keyblade.

actually Riku was no idiot. He controlled darkness untill ansem took over him. thats when he lost controll. He reached out for what had the most power at the time wich was darkness to save his friends.

Umm... No, not at all. Riku desired power, and wanted anything to get it. He was manipulated, and when he saw his oppurtunity he went for it. All people should be liek that IMO, when you see an oppurtunity take it. and don't say it didn't work out for him in the end, because he re-deemed himself, and got exactly what he wanted.
