Kingdom Hearts I would like to know your opinion on the "riku/sora debate"

Riku and Sora are just Best Friends! Get Over it!

I never actually thought of that. In my opinion, Riku and Sora have always been really close friends.

Please don't just say 'I agree with...' or 'They're just friends'. Try to actually provide some evidence, or at the very least, more than a one sentence post.

Also I don't know if you or anybody else remember but when Sora found out Kairi was kidnapped and they were in Hollow Bastion the scene when Axel is telling Sora that he's sorry for kidnapping Kairi and then Saix comes and interrupts them.And when Saix told Sora he had Kairi Sora got on his knees and begged Saix to take him to Kairi.And when Saix said no Sora was mad at him and told him quote"You rotten!"

To other people I don't believe that Sora and Riku are gay and I respect your opinion but Repliku is right they have been friends for so long that they just have that type of brotherly love and thats all.

 

They are just friends. The only evidence in the entire game was the KH2 ending, but to me it seemed more like brotherly love, than a relationship.

But to my 14 year old cousin who saw it... he said quote, "Hey, is the ending a Japanese version of Brokeback Mountain?"

I laughed histarically.

But notice, Sora always seemed to be more attached to Kairi, wheras Riku and Sora are best friends, you kinda get the feeling Riku is the third wheel when Kairi and Sora are together.

Even when Riku (Ansem form) wanted to leave after Sora and Kairi were reunited.

Oh, by the way, thier interactions parallel the interactions of Final Fantasy 4, between Cecil , Kain , and Rosa.

*SPOILERS FOR FINAL FANTASY 4 BELOW*

In that story, one of the subplots plays out as follows.

Cecil and Kain are best friends, they view each other as brothers.
Cecil likes Rosa, Kain likes Rosa.
Rosa likes Cecil, but Kain is her friend too (just a friend).
Cecil and Kain get seperated when on a mission.
Kain gets taken over by darkness.
Cecil and Kain fight each other, Kain wins.
Cecil becomes a Paladin, then avoids a second fight by talking sense into Kain.
Kain admits he fell to the power of darkness, because he wanted to be close to Rosa, who was kidnapped by Golbez.
Cecil and Kain, join forces, kick ass, save Rosa, then save the day!

THE END!

 

Oh my gawd. You have no idea how tired I am of threads like this.

Honestly, you guys. Think for a second. Sora and Riku have been friends since they were little tykes. Of course Sora would be emotional after he found his best friend. If you think back for a minute, Sora has been searching for Riku for two years. Give the guy a break. Imagine if your childhood friend was lost to darkness and you couldn't find him/her for two years. You'd probably be relieved too and just as emotional. Sora thought of Riku as a brother and a good friend and he was wanting to finally know he was okay, despite the fact that he was in Xehanort's Heartless form.

Another thing that bothers me is that people say Sora had his hand too close to Riku's butt as he was helping him walk in the end. Okay, he was grabbing his belt. So what? If Sora had his arm wrapped around Riku, that would be showing a sign of intimacy in my opinion, and would just be plain awkward.

All in all, forget the Sora/Riku couple. It's not going to happen, sorry. I'm not trying to be rude, but look at the facts. Obviously, Nomura is leaning more toward the Sora/Kairi relationship and wants to keep it that way. Sorry for any misunderstandings or if I made you mad in any way, but I think Sora/Kairi has stuck and is going to stay.

I once posted a thread that questioned whether Axel and Roxas were gay.

Ironically I got flamed because I chose the Non-yoai side of the force... while you are getting super-flamed for the yoai opinion.

And smart people who agree with both of us on either side.

Personally, the only thought that came into mind when Sora helped Riku up after battling Xenmas, holding him by one of the little hook things on Riku's slacks, I didn't think:

OMFG!! SORA IS TOALLY FeLIN UP RIKU!!! OMFG!11!!1!

*Ahem*

So basically, Squarse-soft, alongside Disney, even though Disney does support Gay Marrigaes, Will probably not take the risk of having either Riku purposly kiss Sora for his love, or have either of them fall for each other.

I mean Come on, every guy feels uncomfortable when the topic of Gays is brought up. I know I do, I'm homophobic. (No Flaming posts on my fears, OK??)

There's other controversey's out there like Princess Diana was captured by Aliens and bombed her limo, there's one where it says the devil took over one of the popes for years, there's even controversey's around other peoples (And mine) Reilgion!

Wherever you go, there's always going to be some theory that somebody came up with because they didn't want to open a book and read their science text.

Well, obviously they both have a crush on Kairi. It sickens me to see that people actually make those pictures and things. Well, I could see Sora being gay, but Riku? No way in hell he'd be gay.

not being mean here, but why!? in what way if sora and riku were gay would that help kingdom hearts...kairi already has an undeveloped character, known for being sora's "princess" i mean in kh2, we definately see that...sora goes through the nobody tower to find kairi...and they hug and have a "romantic" moment...

if nomura made sora and riku gay think of all the sacrifices in terms of plot and character...kairi would be done for, and the idea of kh is to focus on 3 friends trying to get back home would die as well...that means whatever happens in kh1 goes bye bye...

Unfortunately fangirls tend to look at some things and blow them out of proportion...
picture this:
you have a really close friend the same gender as you, and people could definately liken you to being like siblings...
your really close friend is gone for a long time, and you have no way of contacting that friend and u really are gettng frustrated.
wouldnt seeing that friend make you some what emotional after all you've been through? I mean, you've been fighting people and creatures trying to kill you and all u want to do is go home with both ur friends knowing that your safe...you didnt ask for any of this...you just want to be with ur friends
you get stuck in a different realm with your best friend and hes hurt. your thinking: how do we get out of here, how will we live, what will happen to us...

the last thing you would be thinking about, is if you like your friend (romantically) or not.

I have nothing against fangirls or homosexuals, I have several friends who are fangirls (my sister included) and I know some homosexuals...its just that this idea is...it wont work

 

I don't think riku and sora are gay. Their just really good friends. We all probably hav that one best friend we're close but only as that . And y should their friendship be any different then that.

 

yehhh.... when it comes to KH (and sometimes other animes/games), its totally fine that ppl make up lil storis and fantasies.. everyone has their own opinions... well... then let em have it. this world doesnt just live on ONE idea/thought or w/e... its all point of view ppl...
but i honestly cannot see anything like that in KH.. i really cant... all i see is the deep friendship between Riku and Sora (they ARE childhood friends... so they SUD have a deep friendship) and the love between sora and kairi. well namine and roxas... i cant really say its love cuz they barely even knew each other.. well namine might have known him from b4.. but they'd just met and then they merged w/ their originals.. well i mean they could love eachother cuz they are the nobodies of sora and kairi..... well w/e i digress.... my point is that all i see in this game is deep friendship and the love between ppl. and as the famous quote goes by chris isaac:
"strange what desires will make foolish people do"
hence what Riku does for Sora and vice versa.
mehh... i mean i dont mind the yaoi, if ppl continues to make yaoi stories its totally ok too... i can honestly say that sometimes i myslef enjoy reading them... and sometimes they are just hilarious... so its ok....
surely even you have a friend that you'd do anything for.. but does it really mean that that you are gay for them? well its still POV.
