Kingdom Hearts I would like to know your opinion on the "riku/sora debate"

I would not say that they r GAY persay but maybe just really close friends.
There is no solid evidence that they r gay and I just do not think it is going to happen.
I dont think SQUARE ENIX/SQUARESOFT has ever made a gay character in their games.

 

In their heads people can contort Sora and Riku's relationship as much as they want, but in all reality nothing in the game goes beyond them being best friends =/

 

No. I'm sorry, but no. Riku is 100% not gay. He may be overly protective of Sora at times, but this certainly does not mean homosexuality. There are plenty of quotes that suggest heterosexuality, or at least feelings for Kairi:

Then there's CoM, where he displays an almost fanatical obsession with Naminé:

I strongly think Riku is not gay.

Note that I do not mean to slander homosexuals in any way, but this is how I feel about the character in discussion.

... Ok, no offence but, this is the dumbest thing ever. It's not like I'm gonna go out and have Kairi go have s*x Selphie or Namine for Yuri. But, I will answer your question. No, they are not gay, no Sora does not love Riku as a boyfriend or *Sexual* way. No Riku doesn't like Sora in that way either. I think what "your" referring to is each other wishing they were like the other. In which case, Sora wishes he had a heart like Riku. And Riku wishes almost the same for Sora.

All and all, I think this was just a yaoi loving fan girl thats crazed about the kingdom hearts boys thread. In which case, this was a wasteful thread because we are not on a Kingdom Hearts hentai/sexual forum. Speaking of, anyone had the right to be mean here. Which is also why, I decided to be mean. And I will not apologize for it either.

This was a stupid topic. Not to mention it's a T rated game and Square and Disney are 100% anti gay/lesbian oriented. I think this was just a fantasy topic. Oh by the way, I'm not shooting down anyone else's opinions I'm shooting down "YOURS" because you started all this. But, back on the subject, you should really think about what your getting your self into before you post. you "might" be better off. And if you are 14 and knowing and looking at this stuff, thats illegal, be careful.

And by the way, you having 2 game characters kissing each other that are both men in your avatar, and sig. May be offensive to me and others. I know for a fact if I had 2 gaming characters (Both girls) kissing, and making graphic sigs, I would get yelled at by you and 78% of the other girls. And thats sexist. So once again, I would be careful, you could end up in a deep f*cking hole. I'm just giving you advice, I could care less what happens. All I'm doing is just giving you advice, it's up to you to take it or not. Either way though, something will happen in the future sometime for better or, for worse.

 

Sorry, I wasn't completely clear. That was completely my fault there. Allow me to clarify what I meant:
Riku Replica, whilst not being Riku, believed he was and was eventually given Riku's memories, of sorts.
I also forgot to add:
Riku saves Kairi from Ansem whilst he's being 'possessed', and it doesn't seem like he's having great fun doing it. He's having a huge battle of wills, and it seems like he really cares, for only someone who is deeply special in Riku's heart could make his and Ansem's mind have a battle of wills. Note that this sort of thing didn't happen when he was about to fight Sora.

 

Ok... and an interesting point about the battle of wills... I didn't really think about that before...

This thread has lasted longer than I expected.... Even though its got off topic...

 

I think that this post could have been a lot less nasty, in all seriousness. The person asked a question out of curiosity and there are other threads here such as the AxelxRoxas thread or the one about 'Which pairings do you prefer' that would have been more suited to slam as they directly are about yaoi and this is simply an inquiry into people's thoughts. This has actually been a meaningful thread where people give opinions on a question as to whether it is a canon thing or has no chance in hell.

And an avatar of Sora and Riku kissing...why is that so offensive? They aren't doing anything more than that and people do kiss and there's nothing saying on the forum anywhere that it is forbidden because they are both clothed and it's a kiss, nothing more. There are people's avatars with Kairi and Sora kissing but I don't see people making complaints about that or the Namine and Roxas one. Are you homophobic or that against gays? Think about it. That avatar is no worse than any other truly, just it doesn't have a 'male and a female' in it.

I will say that I get sick of the fangurl/fanboi obsessions of trying to make things of their imaginations 'canon', there's nothing wrong with imagination and for those who don't take it so seriously to write and do art for it. It doesn't really phase me as I don't have to read it or see the pictures, though now and then I see some and I laugh and take it with humor. I'm certainly not going to tell every fangurl or fanboi that they are stupid. Attacking the person who wrote the thread is just flaming. Even as others said they can't stand the fangurlism, no one went out of their way to flame the creator of the thread. That's just downright disrespectful.

The only reason why I wont is because even though this is a Kingdom Hearts forum, that doesn't mean you get to ask if the boys wanna "love" or have "fun" with each other on a T rated game... Like I said Disney and Square are 100% anti gay/lesbian. If she can do that I should go out and make a thread on how much Selphie loves Kairi or Namine loving Kairi and make up a whole bunch of useless reasons on why they could be lesbians or show they're love for each other.

I see what you are saying. I just wanted to point out that really it seemed too far to me. I can tell you there are points where in chat etc I do make fun of fangirls and fanboys that are so into the idea of blahxblah because yes, it does get tiring, especially when they take it serious. I just felt that there were worse threads than this one which actually -asked- people's opinions. The author of the thread also has been responsive. The difference between this one and some of the others I've seen was she actually asked opinions and didn't say 'it is this way because I say so'. I actually kind of found that refreshing, but I can see why others would not. No worries.

 

Once again I will give you a 1-up for understanding and finding my point. Good job man, respect stays, always will.

 

This debate has happened over many forums, many times. There's so many people pitching us yaoi-relationships in KH. Roxas/Axel, Riku/Sora, hell, I've seen Roxas/Sora.
Do you think, that quite possibly, friendships exist? Seriously, not meaning to be rude at all, but with Disney involved, I think yaoi is off the cards. Come to think of it, so is all of the relationships except possibly Sora/Kairi, Roxas/Naminé. And even those were just subtle hints. Games designers do like to play with our heads every now and then. I maintain my firm position of Riku just being best friends with Sora, and a little protective.

 

Well I guess we won... No one is saying that Riku likes Sora anymore....

I agree with everything you guys say. Besides it's kinda kids game and Disney so they wouldn't allow it.

 

Why does everyone say it's T rated? Is it different in different places? Mine says E 10+.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I do agree that Disney and Square wouldn't put a gay pairing in the series, but I do think that they could have put in implications if they wanted to. They could have, but I don't believe they did. I just think Riku and Sora have a strong friendship. There's nothing wrong with yaoi in my opinion, but it does get a little annoying when people actually try and pass it as canon.

 

Sora and Riku are friends. As weird as it seems, two guys can be friends and not be gay.

If Sora and Riku were gay, we'd have seen SOMETHING to hint at it by now that couldn't also be defined as a friendship gesture.
